I have waited quite a while to leave this review and didn’t think I would write it but, since I still think about my experience with Dr. Oh over a year later I want to share with potential patients and hopefully with the Doctor herself why I am writing this. I spent a very long time researching gynecologists in the suburbs, my former was at Northwestern and I no longer live in the city, so I needed one closer to home. After much deliberation I chose this Doctor. I was experiencing several symptoms and was a bit concerned about my health and was anxious to see a Doctor and try to start on the road to health. After waiting 45 minutes, kind of typical I guess, a very harried Doctor entered the room. Within 4 minutes of being in the exam room, not once asking me questions nor allowing me to speak, the Doctor said she had a weight loss program that would help me. She then began to SELL me on the weight loss program. Keep in mind I was at a Gynecologist experiencing gynecological issues. Not once addressing those issues, she told me I need to give up on the fast food and sugary sodas. Well, if she had given me the chance she would have LEARNED that I am a vegan. To my knowledge there are not many fast food vegan restaurants and as far as the sugary sodas she wanted me to stop drinking I haven’t had a soda since 2010. HMMMM. I have NEVER felt so judged and dismissed in my life. She took one look at me, saw that I was 20 pounds over weight (I am well aware of the correlation of weight and the effects on my health) and made an instant judgement that my problem was I was driving through McDonalds eating a Big Macs drinking Cokes daily and to right that self inflicted wrong she had the perfect plan to SELL me that would fix everything. It was unequivocally the WORST experience I have ever had with a Doctor. As I have said before I have never felt so JUDGED for carrying extra weight in my life. Until that appointment I was unaware health care practitioner could be so insensitive. So perhaps if you have the optimal BMI and want to have your gynecologist appointment serve as a home shopping network experience, this is the Doctor for you. I prefer a Doctor that listens and doesn’t judge, perhaps I’m crazy. By the by, my new Doctor found the problem, and there was one, and in doing so that appalling, offensive, disgusting, 20 extra pounds are gone and I didn’t even have to BUY a program to do that. Oh, and I’m still looking for those vegan fast food restaurants!
