Overpriced! For the amount you get :/might as well go to an actual restaurant for the price you pay here. And the food is OK

Great good, great people, great service. We were traveling through town on a recent Friday night. We stopped in 15 minutes before closing, and were welcomed and not rushed. We ate in. We had the homemade meatball sub, cheeseburger, Day Go Dog and fries. Not a bite left. The food was obviously made from fresh ingredients and well made. Locally owned. Highly recommend.

Overall I would give this place a 4.5÷5 stars. Why not a 5? Because the name mentions hotdogs and pizza and therefore you need to do those well. The hotdog 3.5. pizza 4.0 and salad 5.0 I love a good hotdog. Hell, a bad hotdog is still ok but that let down is always a bummer. That is how I felt when I first ordered a hotdog from here. I did not go with the Chicago Dog and instead decided to get the DayGo Dog. Eh, it felt like something I would get at my old babysitter house when I was like 5. You know the type, just enough to think you were eating someone wonderful but, it still left you desiring something else. If you have read my past reviews you will see that my love of dogs is for real and I appreciate a good dog. The fries were a welcome treat and they alone upgraded the review from 3.5 to 4. Fresh home style fries are a dying breed. Day Go if you read this, I would totally market up your fries. Best in Arlington Heights. Ive gotten the Cobb and Mediterranean salad here and they are pretty darn good. I think what separates this salad from other places is they use highly quality balsamic dressing(in my house I have 6 different types and I like to think I am a balsamic aficionado and same for olive oil) and the chicken. Not sure what they marinate the chicken in but it borders on scrumptious and ridiculously awesome. The salad itself could be upgrade. Iceberg is ok for a burger but for salads I think the salad is suppose to stand out without dressing and in that case more tasteful greens are more appropriate. I need to come back and finish this for the pizza. I always just run in a get a huge slice to go for a few bucks. Its good.

It was a rainy cold night and the baseball game was underway so why not try the nearby Day Go Dogs on Campbell Ave. There are not many cheaper to-go spots in the area, so they already have price going for them. I got the cheeseburger which was great and the toppings were fresh still later in the day. The fries were really good, rough cut and plentiful. The meal was filling and only 11 bucks w/a drink. There’s a ton to choose from between 5 – 10 dollars.

Wasn’t too sure what to expect, with a name like that, but the food was pretty good, super cheap, and in large amounts. The kids meals included drink, cookie, fries, and an entrée, and the main meals were good too. Oh, and the fries are hand cut and hot and fresh, while the hot dogs could be thicker rather than the skinny ones. Its a family run joint, but they take pride in making sure you enjoyed the meal and will make it right if not. Keep your money local, and count on Day Go Dogs for a great.

Came for the lunch hotdog special. Hotdog was good but to be honest it was something I could had made at home. Nothing overly special or better yet nothing to differentiate it from any other hotdog. It was good tho. The fries potion was huge! Fresh fries and huge portion. The fries saved the day. Fries, dog, and drink for $ 4.97 and not a bad deal for lunch

Though I’m not even a resident of Arlington Heights, I do have a heart for local businesses which breaks when one goes under. The previous tenant at 5 W. Campbell was a rather forgettable hamburger joint that had apparently stood in that spot for many years(so forgettable that I now can’t remember its name), so one may imagine my joy at seeing a new business had opened there! The layout has not changed much since its days as a burger joint: it’s a long, narrow stretch of a space, maybe 20 feet wide and about four times as deep. The cozy, welcoming décor definitely implies Italian, with lots of red, white, and green splashed about. I walked in during a weekday off-peak time — approximately 3:00pm — and was promptly greeted by a friendly, enthusiastic, fresh young face(I never got her name, but… blond). I asked her how long they had been open(since March) and if it was under different ownership than the burger shop that was here before(it is). I told her that this place had perhaps the best name for a fast food restaurant I had ever heard. The young lady thanked me, but told me they had had some«haters» due to the name, but just as many supporters, most of them area Italians who take no real offense at the ethnic slur suggested in the name. I asked if the owner was of Italian heritage, and was quite comfortable with the business name once I learned that, yes, she is. The young lady behind the counter(I REALLY wish I had asked her name for her praise) was very personable and engaging, and answered my inane questions with a smile and an eagerness to be of service. She told me of the lunch specials, to include the Chicago Dog special — a traditional Chicago Dog, an order of hand-cut fries, and a soft drink — which comes out to a mere seven cents more than just the Chicago Dog alone! She also told me that the meatballs, the pizza, and the Italian beef sandwich are all made from scratch from homemade family recipes passed down to the owner by her Italian immigrant grandmother. As for the Chicago Dog… well, if it DOESN’T taste like a Chicago Dog, then they’re doing something wrong. A Chicago Dog shouldn’t have a unique taste outside of the Chicago Dog Manifesto: Vienna Beef frank in a poppyseed bun, piled on with a dill pickle spear, tomato wedge(s), diced onions, picalilly relish, yellow mustard, and sport peppers, all dusted with celery salt. If you taste something else in it, something more or something less, then it’s not a Chicago Dog. Daygo’s Chicago Dog has all the classic ingredients, piled on just as they’re supposed to be(meaning: spilling out of the bun), and served practically buried under a veritable heap of their fresh, hand-cut french fries. The taste? Divine. Classic Chicago Style Hot Dog! Beneath the Vienna beef frank the bun was a little on the soggy side, which may mean the frank was put on a little too wet, or the picalilly relish has a lot of water in it, but let that not take away from the near perfection of Daygo’s Chicago Dog! The fries arrived hot, crispy, and voluminous; it was a shame to throw away any of their goodness, but I could not eat any more than two-thirds of what they served me. The only disappointment in today’s Daygo Dogs & Za experience was that their soda fountain was out of Dr. Pepper, and they had no more to replenish it. This lunch special combo all came out to just under five dollars. Naturally, one can’t judge a full restaurant experience by one visit and one meal, but Daygo Dogs & Za made a fantastic first impression with me. I will return!

I live two blocks away from here, and every day I open my windows, the smell of amazing delicious juicy burgers are lingering in the air, forever taunting me! They have amazing food! The burgers are amazing, the beefs are perfect, the dogs are good but the relish is a little much. I love their Mediterranean salad with fresh sliced mozzarella! Mmmm! Soooo good!

Arlington Heights definitely needed a fast food type restaurant like this since the only other one in the Downtown is Noodles now that Panera went out of business. But nevertheless, I was disappointed. I’m willing to try it again if they take input from these reviews. This isn’t a place you want to eat in on a hot day because the inside is hot and stuffy and they could really benefit from turning up the AC. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food, but maybe that wasn’t a good thing when it came to the slice of cheese pizza I ordered. Since pizza(«za») is in the name of the restaurant, I was expecting a slice of hot fresh homemade tasting pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza was far from fresh. The cheese was solidified rather than gooey and hot and was also very greasy. I’m not sure how long it had been spinning around the pizza warmer before it was served. The mozzarella sticks were quite delicious but the marinara sauce served with them was not tasty at all. The french fries were definitely fresh but not crispy enough. Again, I’d be willing to try this place again since I do think Arlington Heights needs a restaurant like this, but I hope they can make some improvements.

Went here for lunch a little over a week ago. Service was great from the staff. The food was very basic. I didn’t find the food to be anything that stood out to me. I ordered a standard Chicago hotdog and fries. There were a lot of other options including pizza, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. I was going to try a slice of pizza, but saw it was in one of those pizza warmers and wasn’t too fond of that. If I’m in the downtown area during lunchtime I might stop by here again.

Live in downtown Arlington Heights, and have wanted to try this since it opened. Stopped by for lunch on Saturday and all i can say is YUCK… Had a cheesey beef and my husband had a hot dog. Food was flavorless and very expensive. The worst is the service, horrible! I really wanted this place to make it. based on this food, I wouldn’t never go back.

Day Go Dogs & Za is an alright place to go for fries, burgers, sandwiches, etc. It’s a bit pricey compared to other similar restaurants in the area, unless you’re only ordering off the specials menu but this is partially justifiable by the quality of the ingredients used although the portion size could be larger. I tried several items here and didn’t dislike any of them, but also didn’t find any of them memorable. The best item I had was probably the fresh cut fries, which did have a good mix of crisp/soft texture and were seasoned just about right. The burger was also alright, similar condiments and contstruction to the one at Portillos but the patty was a bit on the small side. The chicken parm had a well cooked cutlet but could’ve had a crispier/crunchier crust. The meatball sandwhich had generously sized meatballs but were a little on the lean side and could’ve used extra seasoning. Overall, I’m slightly on the fence about this one. I didn’t dislike the food but either the portion sizes need to be larger or there needs to be more specials(or slight reduction in price) for me to choose this over going to somehwere like Portillos.

Been here several times. Service is always great. The food is amazing. Had the homemade beef sandwich and it was excellent. Great flavor and tender beef. The Day Go Dog is one of my favorites. Fresh cut fries served on top of the dog. I had the cheese pizza with my daughter and it was out of this world. The dough is made fresh daily. The crust was perfectly crisp. The homemade sauce was very flavorful and Richie’s special cheese blend will blow your mind. Best pizza I’ve had in years. There are many choices for pizza toppings and types. The homemade meatballs from an old family recipe is a must have. Great flavor and the marinara sauce on crispy fresh Italian bread is a perfect combination. Give this place a try! You won’t be disappointed! 5 Stars!

We were super impressed for our first time visit. Food came out really fast. I don’t think we even waited 5 minutes. Hot dog and all food was very fresh. This might actually replace our trips to Portillos for us(which says a lot) If you’re in the downtown Arlington Heights area, I highly recommend this new spot! Esp the Italian beef, Chicago dogs and cheese fries.

Forget the hours. I am damn excited to have great food a block away. We had an awesome gluten free pizza(great crust) plus char Vienna dog plus fresh cut fries. I also sampled a calzone and cheese pizza which were great. All the food is homemade and I like the new décor!!! Definitely a great addition to the downtown Arlington area. I would like to see the following changes in their hot dog offerings: 1.Rosen Poppy Seed Buns. 2.Same thick, skin Vienna dog as Portillo’s 3.Option to buy hot dog without fries… Make these three changes and business will increase!
