Daikichi Sushi is a shop located in the Mitsuwa Market. It is a few long, refrigerated cases that are filled with already-packaged pieces of sushi and other Japanese lunches. It’s a grab and go/express type set up, where you pay at the cash register of the supermarket area of Mistuwa. The variety is pretty impressive. Whether you’re a fan of fish or not, there’s an offering for you. Common items like tuna rolls, California rolls, and salmon rolls are available, either on their own or in bigger combination trays. Then there are offerings with eggs, eel, and even baby octopus. Everything is insanely fresh, which is a huge plus. The rolls are also pretty massive in size. I was expecting to pay a lot more than I did. I get sushi fairly often from a place near my house, where I get less variety and way less quality. At this other place I get a pack of nine tiny rolls for about $ 10. Not here! Six of these giant crab rolls cost only $ 6.99 here, and they don’t look as though they’ve been sitting out all day. I also got a «deluxe» tray, which has $ 18 various rolls for only 16 $ or so. It tastes good, and is well worth the price.

Fresh sushi as far as the eye can see! Well, at least to the end of the refrigerated case, which is still pretty darn long. I bought a massive Cali roll for $ 5. Offerings at Daikichi are simple like spicy shrimp roll, crab roll, salmon roll. The roll itself is extra large, but some of the individual pieces are 2 bites each. To purchase, grab what you want and then pay at the regular grocery checkout. The security guard stared down my friend and I, like we were going to bury salmon rolls in our pants. Even if I wanted to, I had leggings on, and those pieces of sushi are so large that there would be bulges in places there shouldn’t be. The security guard reminds me of the lame cop from«Superbad.» The cashier will ration your wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce. Daikichi is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace. I would buy sushi here again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

No joke, this is THE best store bought sushi you will get. It rivals fancy restaurants with their $ 20 specialty rolls. Daikuchi, if you change and if I see your prices go up I will be saddddd and become angryyyy hulkkkk. My favorite is the salmon avocado with the biggest most tenderest of juicy fish pieces. Also their rice is the best tasting rice I’ve had in any sushi roll. 6.49 for 8 giant pieces. Plz plz plz keep that up, faithful customer forever haha.

Daikichi Sushi is the grab & go section of Mitsuwa Market. As far as grab & gos go(gogo haha), it’s as good as it gets. All of the fish is fresh and the portions are so huge! Not only are the portion sizes big but the pieces themselves are monstrous as well. I had a salmon & avocado roll today that was so thick, I had to take each piece in two bites. My tiny mouth didn’t help matters much! I bet you’re thinking these giant sized maki rolls run at least 10 buckaroos a pop. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh(that’s my buzzer noise)! Wrong! Nu uh!!! These colossal servings run $ 4-$ 6 for most rolls. Insane in the membrane!!! Fresh fish, tasty rolls, massive helpings, good prices… what are you waiting for?!

Would not get sushi here unless you’re dying of hunger. The sushi looked ok, but the rolls were bad. Selection is very small and simple. The rolls are huge and mainly packed with rice. Unimpressed to say the least. Definitely rates somewhere on the bottom of the list of sushi places I’ve gone to.

For those who thought grocery store sushi couldn’t be fresh or fantastic: Behold! Granted Daikichi is located within the Midwest’s largest Japanese market/superstore, it should still be noted that this stuff is damn fine… and for non-fancy schmancy rolls, the best bargain/bet I’ve seen — ever. EVER. This is some SERIOUS sushi. So serious, in fact, that I’m going to be doing a whole heck of a lot of caps locking over the course of this review. BEWARE: There’s a definite choking hazard with these HUGE, heaping pieces. And not just a buncha rice and filler — I’m taking giant chunks of ultra fresh fish, expertly sliced. Obviously some ninjas are employed here. If you go later in the evening/day, your selection is highly limited, but if you are able to make it in mid-day, it’s PRIMO as far as options. You can get sushi, sashimi, stuffed rice paper balls, bento boxes that you can re-heat in their microwave(a little ghetto, but the price is right). The prices are crazy. Like, before I was buying the stuff I got kind of worried as to how quality the fish could be considering how many GIANT rolls I was getting and how much fish was packed into the package, but it was sooo good! So good, in fact, that my dude and I ended up fighting over the pieces(even though one package is more than enough food for a full meal for one person) to the point that we decided to go back in and buy another giant package. The only annoying thing is that you have to ask for soy sauce when you purchase the sushi, it’s not just out for you to take, so your soy sauce intake is limited to however many packets the Mitsuwa cashier will give you(hint: it’s never enough) and the little solo cup is too small for the size of the sushi rolls so you can’t really dip your as is. Also, there’s no fresh wasabi — you get the mustard packet wasabi, but it still tasted fine and if that helps keep the cost down I can be okay with it. I go to Mitsuwa fairly frequently but this was my first time purchasing sushi from Daikichi. I think because I usually go after 3pm and at that point there really isn’t much left in the long case, but on this particular occasion I had managed to get my ass up before noon and was able to partake in the fishy fruits of Daikichi’s loins… which is the grossest statement ever, but I’m going with it. Holy Moly Roll-y and Beam me up, Daikichi!
