Just ate here for the first time this past weekend. Went with a party of 7. The food and service was excellent. We ordered the platter of food that feeds 6 people. It was piled high. We ended up walking out with a couple of doggie bags. Will definitely come again. Looking forward to going when the weather is warmer and sitting outside. Could not have asked for better service. The owner stopped over to see how we were doing. Extremely friendly!!! Loved this place!!!

Ate there tonight. A great treat! Slow roasted pulled pork was the best. Leave some room for the cornbread pudding!

I was pleasantlysurprised by this place. Have a family to feed and dont feel like cooking? This is the place to go to. My buddy and I ordered«the lancaster» to split between the two of us. We almost didnt leave alive… it was that much food. The food is good and owner was very friendly as well. I think we ordered the brisket but were curious about the shredded pork as well and the owner gave us a small side of it for free. The only downside to the place is probably the size of the joint. I’d recommend ordering for pick up.

A very good BBQ restaurant. Not as good as the authentic ones you would find down South. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Service was good. The food portions were very big. Wasn’t overdone on bbq sauce. One of the things that turn me off about many BBQ you buy around here. The brisket was excellent. Very soft and moist. It worked perfectly in the Brisket Chili Soup. One of my favorite Chilis I ever had and I’ve eaten many. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars but Unilocal only allows whole stars. Well worth your time and money.

Another amazing meal at Barbacoa, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Plan on leftovers because they know how to feed you!

We went there with our friends. Great food! Very delicious pulled pork, and I like their sweet potato wedges. They are next to a beer shop. Bring a specialty beer to the BBQ. Great! We will go back again.

Excellent selection of BBQ and higher quality than you think you’d find on the Mainline, Barbacoa will more than satisfy any carnivore. If there’s one thing I miss from living in the South, it’s definitely the barbecue. Northern folks just don’t get how good it is south of the Mason-Dixon. So I was thrilled to find such a highly rated BBQ place so close to where I live. Pick up was quick and easy, and the 10% off for takeout on Tuesday and Wednesday is a nice incentive. We decided to try some southern favorites — the Slow Roasted Pork Sandwich($ 8.99) with slaw and cucumber wasabi spread, the Louisiana Po Boy Sandwich($ 11.99) with breaded shrimp tossed with sriracha mayo on a bed of greens with fresh tomato, and two sides, Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens($ 4.99). The pork sandwich had a distinct smokey flavor I loved, interestingly topped with a mild creamy-good wasabi spread and traditional crispy slaw that is a must on this type of sandwich. The Louisiana Po Boy isn’t authentic in the slightest, but it didn’t prevent me from enjoying the large sub with a breaded shrimp and that stellar sriracha mayo. The sides were only average — the mac & cheese was tasty but unremarkable, and the collard greens were a bit watery. Also the prices are a little high, especially the sides which were really small for $ 5(one person could easily eat the side). If it were $ 2 – 3 cheaper and I may come here every night. Overall, other than the average sides and prices on the high-ish end, you can’t argue with the interesting and delicious combinations offered by Barbacoa. I will definitely be back for the chicken and chipotle dippers.

Wanted to try this place out, but I was turned away two hours before close because the owner had a «family emergency.» The entire staff was still there and there was a family eating. I would say it’s time to train more than one person to operate the kitchen or if the wait staff was lying it’s time to hire new people that won’t close your business two hours early on a Friday night. Wish I had something to say about the food. It sounded awesome. I guess I’ll never know.

Ate here with a large group for a friend’s Birthday and it was… AWESOME! Great BBQ! Great Service! And it’s byob! The Ribs, pulled pork, and brisket… all cooked to perfection! My favorite was the Chipotle Dippers and the cornbread pudding! I highly recommend this spot to anyone who likes BBQ. I will most definitely be back! Thank you Guy and Shannon for an awesome dining experience!

Their specialty is BBQ but that’s about it. Mac and cheese fell flat– super oily, oddly sweet. Salad was literally a bag of mixed greens and a handful of craisins and walnuts that weren’t candied like menu said. Not worth the money unless you’re ordering meat only. Make the sides yourself. Location and décor is really nice. I also love that they have outdoor seating– there’s not enough of it in Ardmore!

For the record, this is NOT a Peruvian restaurant. For some reason, the establishment wanted to tag«Peruvian» because of the way they prepare the chicken, which in my opinion, has no Peruvian flavor to it. Other than that, the atmosphere was a bit too crowded for me, but average nonetheless. The smell of BBQ was intense, which is a plus. While we were waiting for our order, I could not stop sniffing at our neighbor’s food. I ordered the BBQ Ribs and the chicken. Both were spectacular. I also tried some of their pulled pork and briskets. Delicious. I would place this restaurant a few notches above Boston Market, yet not worth a five-star rating. Famous Dave’s had better service in my opinion. The«Peruvian» style chicken was«Murican» made. Sorry, but nice try.

Came here with my dad to get food for father’s day; we ordered the Athens(2 – 3 people). Good: — Food was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and yet not dry, the brisket was tender and pretty much perfect. — Wait time was about 4x longer than than predicted(we were told 15 minutes, we waited closer to an hour or more) BUT the manager noticed how long we’d been waiting and gave us our order on the house. Excellent business strategy, since not only will I come back for sure, but I also know to call ahead for my order now. Bad: — Wait time.(If we hadn’t gotten the order on the house, the 1hr+ wait time would have made me really bitter, no matter how good the food was). — It’s not an issue for people who like warm weather, but I’m pretty intolerant to heat, and there was no cool indoor place to sit – inside was actually hotter, since it was smokey from the ovens. Outside, there were flies to contend with. But takeout solves those problems. –Fries were alright but nothing special, might benefit from more salt or flavoring.(not really«bad», just average) Overall: We were very pleased with what we got. The food was amazing and the portions were good for the price. Manager was always polite even when we got impatient and hovered a bit after 40 minutes. Will remember to call ahead in the future to avoid the wait time.

Omg! How amazing is this place!!!(Rhetorical question) I’ve had my share of Peruvian chicken including the popular chain Nando’s. This place kicks Nando’s butt in its chicken. I’ve never had such moist chicken and their green pepper sauce is spectacular. I can’t speak for its sides because I haven’t tried them. BYOB. 5 stars for the chicken.

Well. Driving home tonight I felt a little too lazy to cook, and decided to dip in to good old Barbacoa for another meat fest. Had the brisket tonight and it was pretty damn good. I’ve reviewed this place a number of times and aside from one off night which happens to everyone it is always solid. I meant to post up after my last visit but didn’t get around to it. They deserved that review. Reason I mention it now is that that particular night I was made a promise. I was told that if I ordered a particular item that I would have trouble resisting it in the future. That it was so good I would be blown away. Now after a build up like that I would expect to be let down. But. I wasn’t. Two words… chipotle dippers. Get them. Eat them. 2 little pork shanks will knock your socks off. They say award winning on the menu. They deserve it. Damn. So good.

As a Texas native, I am an expert in BBQ. I’ve had Louisiana BBQ, Texas BBQ, Georgia, Alabama. I can boldly and safely say this is the best BBQ food you’ll find north of the Mason Dixon Line, and possibly the best outside Texas. 6 out of 5 stars. It doesn’t get any better than this!(Unless you’re in Texas)

The food here at Barbacoa is just kickin’. We ate the equivalent of a barnyard of animals, with chicken, pork, and beef, all served family style. The beef brisket was the most tender I’ve ever eaten, and the rib meat just falls off the bone. Other notable achivements are the corn bread, corn bread pudding(yeah that’s a lot of cornbread), and tavern cut french fries. So why not five stars? Inside is really tight, loud, and smokey. I presume some of the smoke from the kitchen wafts over to the dining area, so you will get your yearly dose of second hand smoke. Also, since this is a barbecue place, you’ll go through an Amazon rainforest equivalent in napkins, which is bad for the environment. Heads up there. Finally, and this is no fault of management, some large family decided to bring their evil screaming spawn, which of course sat next to us. I’m beginning to see why the Carthaginians engaged in child sacrifice. Overall, the food here is not to be missed but is probably best enjoyed via takeout(SangKee watch out) or when the outdoor seating opens in the Spring. Make sure you call ahead for reservations if you choose to dine in.

Very good savory meats, the best BBQ we’ve had in the area! Got the Lancaster meal, which included a whole chicken, brisket, a ½ rack of ribs, cornbread, coleslaw, mac n cheese, and cornbread pudding. It was a little over $ 50 after tax. The meats were EXCELLENT. Very moist, flavorful, and juicy. They did not need sauce, which tells you how good they were. However, Barbacoa’s sauce was definitely a great addition. Subtle enough not to compete or steal the show, which was exactly as it should be. Better than any other BBQ place nearby, for sure.(5STARS) My husband took the Unilocalers’ recommendations on the cornbread pudding, which was FABULOUS! He went nuts eating it.(5STARS) The Mac N Cheese had some goodness going on there too. Quality cheese, some appreciated seasoning, baked to a good consistency. Better than any other BBQ place nearby as well.(4.5STARS) Slaw was tasty. Crisp and fresh. No complaints.(4STARS) Fries were not our taste, and got ruined the way the takeout was packaged. They were ripple-cut wedges with skin. I prefer standard julienne fries, or steak fries, which get nice and crispy. The thick wedges don’t crisp, and when Barbacoa served them underneath all our meats in a steamy container, they got completely soggy and covered with sauce, which we didn’t necessarily want all over them. So the fries were a real bummer and we didn’t eat them.(1STAR) The cornbread was a bummer too. It may be homemade, but it looked and tasted like it was from a food supplier.(1STAR) For how excellent Barbacoa’s meat /side items were, we were really let down by the fries and cornbread. Engine 23 Smokehouse BBQ in Morton is way inferior to Barbacoa in meats, but their cornbread is great(the only thing worth getting there). The best cornbread around here is French Quarter Café in Royersford, which has the best cornbread I have ever had. Would have given Barbacoa 5 stars easily for the items done well, but the fries and cornbread made us have to take one off. Only other complaint is that twice now when the restaurant is supposed to be open(as per hours on their menu we just picked up when there), we have called and no one answers. We figure they’re busy and wait a few minutes, call again, still no answer. Another time, we drove all the way there during business hours and they were completely closed with no sign on the door to explain anything. So that was really frustrating and doesn’t seem reliable. All in all very good BBQ. Next time we would order just meats and sides; the $ 50+ for the meal, when considering the letdown items, seemed like it was overpriced. So we’ll have to hone the choices down next time. And we recommend that you definitely call before heading over.

Zero negative things to say about this place. This is my favorite type of restaurant because it is local, friendly, not too trendy and knows their product very well. The overall generalization of the type of food here is bar-b-que style foods mainly in sandwich form. Any sandwich you order is a wonder size and may have a possibility of a left over. If you want sides those are ordered separately by either the pound or ½ pound orders. And they usually have specials listed on their board. There is also a back to their menu where can order basically a whole meal if you bring a big enough crew with you if you don’t want sandwiches. The night I went I got the classic Po Boy(their version) and it was phenomenal! My dining partner ordered one of their specials for the evening that consists of a sausage with pulled pork stuffed inside and bacon wrapped around the sausage. We ordered 2 sides of macaroni & cheese and cole slaw and got both in a ½ pound size. Perfect amount for just the 2 of us. If we only got 1 side we would have probably ordered a pound. I would recommend both of these sandwiches and sides, and I hope they have their 1 pound baked potato special the next time I am there. The place is small so maybe call a head to check out the scene. It is also BYOB and there is a beer shop right next door if you want to wait to pick up the alcohol. Fabulous food!

Oh my god, the corn bread pudding! Want to see something funny? Put a heap of that corn bread pudding in front of a bunch of fitness folk who aren’t shredding. See how long it takes for someone to face plant in the serving dish to suck up all of the pudding.

This spot had been in my bookmarks forever and I finally got a chance to check it out with my friends. I love that it’s right around the corner from where we live; this gave us the chance to show up pretty close to closing time. Luckily, the waitress agreed to take our order. I got the Chicken Barbecue Sandwich Special and a side order of macaroni and cheese. Everyone was pumped to sample from each other! Unfortunately, the waitress misheard us and brought out one less sandwich than we had asked for. By that point, the kitchen had officially closed and she did nothing to rectify the mistake. I was not impressed. All in all, the food itself was amazing – almost enough to bump my review up to four stars, but a mishap like the one we experienced is hard to forgive. I do love that they have outdoor seating, and the interior of the restaurant is really cozy too. I think I might be willing to give them a second chance. To be continued!
