Overall, V&N was a pretty underwhelming experience. I paid $ 8 for the«Deluxe Burger Basket,» which came with a large fry, soda, and burger. The fries were crinkle-cut and most likely came from a frozen package, and the burger was comparable to a McDonald’s single burger– small, not many toppings, overcooked. I also had to wait about 20 minutes for the food. I would be willing to try the place one more time, but with so many options in the area I most likely won’t.

Forgot to add, the food is pretty good for Humboldt County I’d recommend trying. Just don’t forget to bring cash

This is the classic burger from your childhood. Brings you back. The walls of the place are covered in rude signs basically saying if you want to complain, go shove it. Not typical friendly customer service. They actually did get my order wrong last time, but I didn’t want to say anything with all the negative signs. Crinkle fries are basic and boring too. Overall not thrilling, and because of the signs on the wall, I go to other burger places.

Love their yummy burger, classic burger joint with a classic burger feel. wish it was bigger though, it does get cramped during lunch rush

This is your classic burger joint. WAY better than Stars– in my opinion, Stars sucks(wheat buns? really?) V&N’s meat is good, the cheeseburgers are just perfect. The onion rings are the best onion rings in town if you’re looking for classic, crispy, greasy onion rings(if you want intensely gourmet, beer-battered thick and crunchy onion rings, go to Six Rivers). It’s a great place! I will say though, the fries are a bit less than mediocre.

Honestly, I don’t know what those other two people giving this place 1 star is talking about. I’ve tried Stars and a few other places around Arcata and still feel that V&N have the best burger around. I think the key is in their patty… there’s something about it that is just right… maybe because everything is made fresh… and come to think of it, its also probably why the wait is a little long. 10 – 15 min. Not too into the fries, the chili is kinda greasy as well, but if you want a place that serves an awesome burger, this is the place to go!

Well, as bland as you can make a burger, they’ve now made it. Plus you’ll be waiting a ridiculously long time for it. No upside here. Can’t comment on anything besides the beef, but I can say you’ll be much happier with Stars, Tony’s, or many other places that serve burgers.

Decent burger. The other reviewer is stupid enough to think that its a bar. so that’s her own fault. They make decent shakes too. Give it a try if you are in the area and don’t want to spend much money.

In theory, when you mix together two of the tightest things ever(i.e. pizza and beer, PB and J, water and white t-shirts, etc) — you should have a brilliant package, right? In reality, some people take this to a whole new level of nastiness. Take, for instance, the V & N Burger Bar in Arcata. It sounds tight, doesn’t it? Burgers, bar, mmmmmmm. Right??? NO. First of all, you named your restaurant after your sweet first initials. That never works. Secondly, when you said«Bar», I thought you meant BOOZE — not a wooden dowel people have to belly up to to get served your greasy, undercooked, petite, worthless excuse for a burger. Not to mention the fact that I think your restaurant is really an old RV with a few decades of crusty painted façade in front of it. Ick. There is so much good food in Arcata — even for the few meat eaters up there — don’t waste your time with this place. Head up to Stars. Their burgers won’t give you the HIV and they actually serve beer.
