Great specialist and easy to talk to. I totally recommend him.

MT I’ve been a patient of Dr. Ding for many years, and I’ve always received the finest care from him. He is an excellent surgeon! He’s done two hand surgeries, and a knee surgery. I’ve had no problem with his skills and care. He is to the point! I want someone skilled not Mr. Congeniality!

I had low expectations coming into Dr. Ding’s office today after reading all the negative reviews before me. After my visit, I have to say the negative reviews do not reflect my experience. I had little wait time(got called in within 2 minutes after filling out paperwork), and staff was friendly. I came in for a lower back problem. Dr. Ding was very patient and took the time to educate me with anatomy models and explained my treatment options. I agree with many things Barbara mentioned in her review. Dr. Ding was knowledgeable, to the point and realistic. I did not feel rushed or sense a lack of manner. Instead, he was quite courteous. He concluded our session by asking me if I had any more questions. I didn’t look at the time, but the entire conversation lasted well over 5 minutes, unlike some reviewers here experienced. To give bad reviews a benefit of the doubt, maybe their service improved, or maybe I was lucky and avoided the busy hours while the Dr. also happened to be in a relatively good mood. In any case, I had a good experience at Dr. Ding’s. Cheers!

Definitely recommend you go to another doctor. I have never met such a rude and horrible doctor. He is not very patient-friendly. My mom had to get surgery, and the whole time, Dr. Ding was very rude, condescending, and not helpful at all. He also has a pretty bad temper, and yells at his employees and patients. #1. You are a doctor, you do not need to be arrogant and so rude, you also should not yell at patients! 1. He spends 5 minutes with you, and does not bother to go over the surgery details. He literally said two sentences and then left to another patient. He also gets impatient if you ask questions. Well, duh, you’re going to cut open your patient, we would like to know what you are going to do 2. After he did the surgery, my mom had following checkups for her shoulder. My mom’s shoulder kept hurting a lot more, so my mom just wanted to know«Is this normal?» A normal doctor would have said, yes, this type of surgery tends to hurt like this”. NO, he didn’t do that, he accused my mom of moving in her sleep, and my mom said she wouldn’t(duh the shoulder hurts too much to lay on it), and then he demanded to know if she even had a 24⁄7 camera on her watching her sleep and how she would know he didn’t move. What the heck. You do not treat patients like that. You are supposed to try to make the patient feel better and explain things if a patient has issues. You do not accuse them of anything. 3. We definitely regret going to him, but we did not know any doctors at the time. However, because of his lack of explanations and his rudeness, we decided to go to a second doctor for a second opinion and more clarification.

Yes, he often does have the bedside manner of a troll, but he can be extremely sensitive and understanding. What do you want from your surgeon? Someone who is nice or someone who has excellent surgical skills? Rarely, you get both in the same person but not usually. Dr. Ding is an excellent surgeon. I have not met anyone who disputes this fact. I have had three surgeries by him and am getting ready to schedule my fourth. He has performed surgery on my husband and numerous friends. All regard his surgical techniques highly. By the time you land in his office, you need surgery. He doesn’t need to poke or prod you or hold your hand. He listens to the complaints, reads the mri results, the x-rays and/or whatever test results are pertinent. He will over schedule, scheduling four or five people at the same time. Some visits take 5 minutes and others take 20 minutes. He is very businesslike, cut to the chase sort of guy. He will tell you the truth, which more often than not, hurts. I’m fat and diabetic, both of which will negatively impact the surgical outcome. He comes right out and says things like that. For your internist, you do want a nice guy/gal. You want someone who can listen long enough to diagnose you. You want someone who will poke and prod you. For my orthopedic surgeon, I want an excellent surgeon, not Mr. Nice guy. Oh yes, more often than not, he will take you the same day you call.

DOYOURHOMEWORKONTHISDOC. I was about to let him do surgery on my shoulder for a torn RTC a severed bicep tendon and torn cartilidge and found out he has no licences to write a pain medication stronger then vicoden .and he refuses to put in a pain pump… and did not even suggest that I get an Ice machine, I started to get the feeling that someting is very wrong. I called another doc for a second opinion and he told me that every surgeon can write perscriptions for even demerol if they need to. and the second doc. said he gets an ice machine sent to the patient before surgery also a pain pump is instaled to give pain relief just for the area. and he gives a 3 day supply of oxycontin to get you threw the worst of the recovery. dr. ding does none of these do not let him cut you unless you like to be in alot of pain

Dr. Ding had very poor bedside manner with his patients. When I visited his office on several occassions, I had to wait 45 minutes to an hour to see him. Actual appointments would last only 5 minutes, during which he would be condescending and inpatient. Dr. Ding only seemed to care about patients filling their paper work — so he could bill the insurance company. His staffs shared the same attitude towards patients. On one occasion, I requested to speak to him after the appointment for one more quick question. I was turned down and was told to go seek a second opinion if I didn’t trust Dr. Ding. That’s exactly what I did. I went to another specialist, Dr. Kenneth Sabbag in Pasadena. I was treated very nicely there.
