VFW Harvey Pierre Post 2778

Parents went there for Perch on Friday. The cole slaw was warm. Waitress went to get them another bowl that was taken right out of the fridge… still warm. Who eats warm cole slaw? Something must be wrong with their refrigeration. Perch came and they were super tiny pieces. Not to mention, the fish tasted terrible. The perch came looking «ivory» in color and tasted like the fish was sat out all day and then was refrozen. The bill came to $ 33. What a waste of money. Never EVER again!!! Wanted to give zero stars… just terrible.

Wow. All I can say is take me back to days of yore. The VFW has been a landmark for years. Great service, even better fish, and decent prices. Whoever’s running the show now needs to take a few lessons from the past. I hadn’t been there in several months and went for lunch on a Friday recently. What freaked me out was that the place wasn’t even half full. That’s not the VFW I remember! The waitress seemed like she had no idea what was going on and forgot an order so there was a wait for that. I had a seafood platter which in past times would have been sumptuous. I got four scallops less than the size of a quarter. The rest of the platter was quite good but overall you don’t get much for the money. Wake up– this is the vfw not fine dining. Folks go there for the fabulous fish fry which used to be larger portions for less money. I would be bummed to see a landmark such as this place drift into mediocrity.

not the best in Appleton — not even good sorry-​once again — our order got lost. We took the suggestion of the bar staff to have our meal in the bar and it was still lost. Ordered and they came back 30 minutes later and told us they were sold out of what we ordered (really 30 minutes?) My hubby likes this place but I’m not so much happy about a $ 50 tab when we didn’t get what we ordered and we had to wait wait wait. I think the staff has the right heart but management is crippling them them from doing the right thing — potential but alas shooting themselves in the foot — I won’t be back

Great Post, friendly service, recently remodeled. We often stop in for Friday Perch, it’s one of the best in Appleton.
