Appleton, WI
Maritime is the only bar in Appleton that will freely let Metal and Punk bands play. In a sense it’s like CBGB’s of the Fox Valley. While most every bar in the area that has live music is simply having cover bands, they at least are having a place for people that don’t want to kowtow to playing pop.
As far as the actual bar itself, it’s definitely a product of its clientele. Don’t go to the Maritime dressed up fancy. It’s always packed on Fridays and Saturdays.

John runs one of the best damn bars in Appleton! I loved hanging out and playing gigs here.
Fair pricing on drinks, free popcorn, live bands, cool bartenders and clientel.
Look on the wall behind the bar — I think one of my mementos is still hanging there: a cracked cymbal.
