Howard Johnson Inn

We stayed here for a wedding. This an older HoJo but it’s under NEW management. This is what I have observed:
The furnishings are older but well kept.
The bathrooms are INCREDIBLY clean.
The towels are white, white, white.
The bed has been turned down every day.
Our sheets were clean and crisp. We could still see the creases in them from being folded.
There is a fridge, micro, and TV (with remote) in our room.
A standard breakfast is served daily.
Updates will be made after football (high season).
The lobby has a large fireplace, nice seating and is clean.
There is a coffee pot and a popcorn machine in the lobby.
There are two floors and NO elevator. There are at least two sets of stairs to get upstairs.
There are a lot of parking spaces available.
Milwaukee is about 1.5 miles away, Green Bay is about 30 minutes away.
The town of Appleton is quite nice and is easily accessed from the hotel.
This HoJo isn’t the fanciest place but it’s kept up and CLEAN! We have stayed at many a fancy (read expensive hotel) but if you are traveling and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, make a reservation and give it a try.

Simply put: They do not change bedding from former guests. My sheets had blood (in the area where one’s groin would be!) that soaked though the mattress pad below. The sheets and pillows were wrinkled from use yet the bedspread was placed over the blood used pillows and very neat. It took two hours to resolve while I stood around waiting after a full day on the road. The manager was apologetic and eventually changed the bedding herself but the owner/​operator refused to return my calls and ultimately offered me a $ 10.00 credit (through another manager; the owner refused to speak with me). The insulting $ 10.00 credit would only apply if I stayed there again. Want to sleep in someone else’s blood? Howard Johnson corporate claims they have no authority over this owner/​operator but eventually sent me a voucher for $ 25.00. Both «remedies» are unacceptable to me. The place is a filthy, unsanitary disaster. I have photos.
