Fratellos Waterfront Restaurant

This is a very beautiful place. It is very classy and romantic. Great place to take a date. Wasn’t really impressed, but wasn’t disappointed. Consistent good service and expectations.

The location was great. Our table sat back from the river, but we still had a great view. The menu was varied, so everyone in the party could choose different types of food. I ordered the cinnamon pork loin with butternut squash ravioli. The food arrived quickly and was flavorful. The atmosphere was very laid back. I would highly recommend eating here and I look forward to stopping in next time that I in town.

The food is always excellent. The atmosphere is the best in the valley. The bar picturesque. The bar service erratic. Recently, we had to listen to a bartender pour out her problems to a customer as we attempted to get a second drink. Should not happen in a well managed bar.

Beautiful location, nice staff and interesting sounding menu items. However, the food was so-​so. I wanted to love it, but when your served bland and room temperature thai curry and open face chicken sandwich that was dry and bland, I couldn’t.

Sorry to say this place has really gone downhill since it was built. Back in the day the food was top notch and they had a great chef. Since then it is more like a chilis with a nice view! Lol The quality of their food is just not there. The menu is limited and does not offer healthy options — it seems like everything is a deep fried or greasy. It’s basically a fun place to go and meet friends if you’d like to have a drink in the bar. The bar has great atmosphere. Our server was not overly friendly –she seemed to be in a hurry even though the restaurant was not busy. We did not get any warm fuzzy feelings and do not wish to return. Sorry but there are too many other new restaurants in Appleton to try. We feel their manager or owner needs to step it up with their staff, a new menu, and a new chef… if they wish to stay in the category of a higher end restaurant otherwise we prefer to go to the Olive Garden because they’re more consistent. If I could I’d give them zero.
Just stopped there to eat at 8:20. The hostess seemed annoyed we were walking in, and proceeds to tell us we can eat there for 20 more minutes and walks to away to seat us. We ask her what she means and says they’re closing and only have 20 minutes to order and after that we can have water. What?! So they close at 8:40 on a Thursday night? Aside from the weird time issue, the hostess was rude. Way to lose business. We left.

The atmosphere is a bit stuffy for my taste, but the service is friendly and the food spot-​on. The view of the river is stunning, especially around sunset. My only qualm is the adult beverages could use some tweaking by a professional mixologist on hand to at least review the concoctions.

Awesome crunch chicken table snack ! Entrees run hot & cold, some good, some not. Service could always improve, especially the bar service.

Subpar food and service. Server wasn’t familiar with menu items and gave us a wrong answer regarding ingredients used in 2 items. Had to ask for silverware and napkins twice after food was served. Other tables/​servers had the same issues. We won’t be back.

Wonderful experience. .. Taken by the stylish renovation of an old warehouse, the ambience was a beautiful mix of vintage commercial with some trendy flair. Upon our servers recommendations, we tried the pan seared sea scallops and the walleye and both were exceptional — delicious flavor with perfect portions. Our server, though juggling a party and several tables, provided us with exceptional service throughout the night. .. Only disappointment = too many delicious sounding dishes, not enough time to try them all.

The food is okay. It isn’t great. They seem to serve a lot of different kinds of foods, so there is a wide variety, but they don’t seem to specialize in just one genre. I have ordered pizza, chicken, salads and other foods here before and the food is really nothing special because it tastes so bland.
On the other hand, I enjoy sitting next to the Fox River and the staff have been friendly.

Sitting outside is a must on a nice summer evening. Such a beautiful location!
My sister had the scallops, which she loved. I had the Ahi tuna appetizer, which was very good. The Thai noodle bowl was not spicy at all and had way too much peanut sauce.
We also enjoyed the mini ice cream cones dessert.
I would recommend this restaurant to friends. The server was very nice and knowledgable of the menu.

So sad when a place has such a great chance to amaze — this location and interior is really cool.

Let’s go ahead and talk about the location… perfect, and they scored big with this place. An old power plant, beautifully restored into this adorable restaurant.
All staff was very friendly, while hostess was sitting other guests the bartender promptly came and brought us to a table. The servers were very knowledgeable of the menu, and how the food actually tastes. I love asking servers at restaurants their favorite drinks, and entrée items. I will often order what the suggest. He suggested the cream soda which was AMAZING and I highly recommend trying it.
Bread with oil&herb mix is at the table, drinks, and meal came quickly. Our server was very attentive as well. Our table and surroundings all clean. Food was cooked how we asked and was hit and full of love wonderful flavors throughout. LOVE their menu.
Even if you do not get a window seat the entire restarunt is beautiful on the inside and their are windows all through. You won’t miss the view!

The scallop dish was incredible, one of the best I have ever had, as were the appetizers. We had a great time sitting on the patio eating next to the river, and the service was great as well!

One word: bland. My parents, husband, and I went here tonight and each one of us thought the food was just… okay. I ordered the curry chicken stir fry, hubby had the Fratello Burger, Dad ordered the chicken alfredo, and Mom chose the bruschetta chicken. All of us had the same consensus: boring and bland.
I mean, I ordered *curry*, and it barely had any flavor! A curry! Dad’s chicken alfredo and Mom’s bruschetta chicken were also bland, Mom’s dish only saved by the riscotto sauce which barely added at least a little bit of flavor. We all had to add salt to our dishes just to make it palatable. Hubby’s dish was also nothing spectacular. He ordered his burger medium and it arrived well done. Fries were also limp and nothing special, but had a good flavor for being french fries.
I bumped it up to three stars given the great location and atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. But will we come here again? Probably not. :(

Very pleasantly surprised to find this rather urban oasis in this more provincial and sleepy town. Beautiful heritage building plopped on the shore of the Fox River. Large, generous windows open right onto the river. Warm lighting, exposed brick walls, crisp linens and great soft ambient music lend to a great atmosphere. Loved this place from the moment i walked in.
There’s a great long and narrow bar that is backed by a wall of windows. Mostly wine-​centric, but a solid classic cocktail menu as well. Sipped my old fashioned there while the table was prepped in the restaurant.
Service was efficient, attentive and friendly without being saccharine. I really wanted to love the steak I ordered, but it was riddled with fat. Inedibly so. But it wouldn’t stop me for a second from returning to try some of the other tempting apps or mains. This fish selection looked good, and their variety of burgers need further investigation. Great Malbec with the main.
Dessert was limited to 2 chocolate options and an ice cream deconstruction, as they were out of pumpkin brûlée. I chose the ice cream deconstruction and wasn’t disappointed at all.
If you’re looking for an experience in appleton that combines ambience, heritage, a view, great bar, great service and what I think is usually great food, there probably aren’t too many places that can compete with this place. I’ll be back.

Great atmosphere and views from the riverfront. We had good service on the terrace and the food was very good.
I had the cajun pizza. While I wish the andouille sausage was a little spicier, I realize I’m in Wisconsin and not Louisiana. It still had great flavor. And the crust was excellent.

Great ambiance, views and design. Everything was great: service, food and setting. I had the salmon and it was perfect and white chicken chili. Perfect.
I enjoyed the interior design of the place. Beautifully done.
