Children’s Dentistry of Apex

Worst establishment I’ve ever been to. I work in health care, and brought my son in a few weeks ago for his cleaning. I sat with my son until I was told I either had to go back to the waiting room, or sit in the back on these benches to watch. I decided to watch, and what I saw appalled me. For one, even though I know it’s a dental office, we were one of the first costumers of the day, and the dental hygienest coat was covered in toothpaste from clearly previous cleanings the day before. I ignored this after seeing how great the hygienest was with my son and how caring she was to his needs, (my son can be a little fearful of the dentist at times), but when the dentist came over to check his teeth, he started crying. The hygienest tried to soothe him, only to be snapped at by the dentist for «commenting.» And she should «just be quiet.» Soon after, the dentist told his hygienest to put fluoride on, and when she went to get some new gloves, he snapped at her again for «wasting them» and she should «figure out a way to REUSE THEM.» I was APPALLED. I didn’t say anything because she changed her gloves anyways after he left, but I wanted so badly to ask her if this was the norm here. I do NOT recommend Children’s Dentistry of Apex due to the dentist mean attitude, cheapness, and straight up rudeness and lack of empathy to not just his great employees, but to his clientele as well. I will not be going back and I will never recommend this pediatrics office.

I have been taking my oldest to Dr. Venezie for over 12 years. Now that I have started taking my little one I have really noticed how cold his bedside manner is. He is very stern with my son and intolerant of his expressing his fear. My son is just over 3 years old. The past 2 times he has been, they have performed the exam and cleaning with him on my lap. Not this time. Dr. Venezie and his hygienist (not Megan, love Megan!!!) pinned my son down while I was instructed to wait on the bench outside of his line of sight. He screamed and cried the whole time. I made a sarcastic comment to my son about «did they torture you?» which was going to be followed with praise for how well he did tolerate it, but Dr. Venezie scolded me for using that word and suggested I was going to implant some kind of negative association (I’m pretty sure the pinning him down and keeping him away from his mommy is far more traumatic than a word he doesn’t really know). I told the dentist I thought his assessment was rude, but he continued. As I went to leave he apologized that I felt his comment was rude. It was so kind of him to apologize for my feelings… At any rate, I will not be going back. This is not the first time he’s rubbed me the wrong way, but it is definitely the last. There are many other fine pediatric dentists in the area that will treat my son much more kindly.

Cannot say enough good things about our experience at the Children’s Dentistry of Apex.
I have a timid 2 year old and this was her first time at they dentist. To be honest I was dreading it. However, the hygentist and dentist– Ronald Venezie were fantastic with her! They took their time with her and let me be a part of the experience with her to make her comfortable. They were able to get more accomplished then I thought would have been possible for her first visit.
We were recommended to this practice by friends and would recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist for your infant, toddler, or teen!
