Superstition Marine

My son and I did an exchange of the ignition switch on our 2005 Crestliner (50HP Mercury) boat and took it to Canyon Lake, only to find the switch wouldn’t turn the engine over and the trim switches would not respond. The gauges and pumps had power and lights but no cranking. The battery was fully charged and it had cranked up in the garage after the exchange. After an hour of retracing wires and coming up frustrated, we packed up and drove to Superstition Marine to see if we could get another switch and start over. When we told the owner our story he said let’s check it out. he took the cowl off and checked the fuse and then said to re-​hook the battery and then put the meter here and there and finally looked at the battery and said there’s the problem. Terminals had the greenish look and when the contact was made, it cranked right up. This is the kind of customer service that has made us want to come back for any parts, or service I need from now on.
Sure, you can call us dum-​dums for not cleaning our battery, and I accept that, but my point is: This dealer chooses to help his customers and not just fill up his cash-​box and if more business’s would be this way, us customer’s would become repeat instead of shopping around for whoever is a dime cheaper. He has my business for life and if you need a fair shake, visit his shop.

I was referred to SM last summer by a co worker when I bought my first (pre-​owned) boat. I took it in and asked for a complete boat «physical» so-​to-​speak and was impressed when they only recommended a few inexpensive tune ups. They had the boat tuned up and lake ready in no time and explained everything they did and even suggested things I could do myself in the future.
This week I took my boat in because the engine wouldn’t crank. They diagnosed the problem and it turned out to be a very minor wiring issue. Again, they had the opportunity to create a big bill but were honest and didn’t even charge me for it. I was only billed for 30 mins of labor which is the time the mechanic took to diagnose the problem.
The staff are friendly and explain everything then offer tips and advice on what could be done at home vs. bringing it to them. They have earned a customer for life and I would recommend them to any boat owners out there.
