I absolutely despise this Safeway, every time I shop here the employees give completely shitty service. They treat everyone as if we OWE them something just to do their job. Every time I came here with my fiancée an employee named Caesar would follow us around the store, stare down my fiancée and try to hit on her if we went in separate aisles. I understand that a company can’t predict these things happening, but their lack of response once notified is sickening. After numerous attempts to speak with the manager and being placed on hold and told to call back several times, just to be told the manager had already left; it became clear to me that they do not give a single SHIT about their customers, and how their employees behave towards customers.

Good store has good deals everything you can expect from Safeway, staff is always friendly and willing to assist you, deli and hot food section never disappoints, the meat area always has good deals! 4 stars because at time you get those certain type of people that are hangin around in front of the store and can disrupt your day or even the staff as they enter the store, but that is not a common occurrence but it happens, other than that it’s a good store

Waiting at Starbucks for my drink line is very long due to it being Christmas and there are only 2 people working. The lady making the drinks is texting on her phone In between making drinks and is not being loud at all when calling out the drinks people’s drinks are sitting in the window getting cold cause they can’t hear.

What happened to Antioch? Wow. True story. Last month I walk into this mess of a Safeway and stand in line to order a sandwich. There are 3 other people in front of me and it’s taking forever. The girl making the sandwiches is actually rolling her eyes and has an attitude as she is doing it. Big surprise. Anyway, I overhear the customer in the front complaining about her sandwich. It’s now my turn to order and guess what. Shanaynay in the front informs me that they are out of Lettuce and Tomato, also out of mustard. I tell the genius, why don’t you walk ten feet and grab a head of lettuce and a few tomatoes? The produce isle was within reach. She wouldn’t do it. I said hell with it and decided to ace the sandwich. Waste of almost 25 minutes in line. On the way out I go to throw my garbage I had in my hand out but notice the trash by the door is overflowing and all over the floor. Who is the manager here? Obviously, they are scared of the employees and doesn’t want to tell them to get to work. Actually I found out later in the day, a lot of the businesses in Antioch are in fear of a civil suit so they just let the bs go on at their business. It seems no matter how lazy and worthless you are, you can’t be fired. This totally explains why Antioch has taken the head first plummet to sub-​standard. Before the housing boom, Antioch was a nice community. A coincidence? Yeah right.
I just went today for the first time in a while. No hand baskets. They were stacked seven feet high by the self check-​outs. I grabbed them and put them by the door and the loser working there laughs.

Make sure you come here before dark because there’s shorter lines, less ghetto & friendlier employees.
There’s a self check out so if you don’t want to wait in long lines, that’s the place to be!
This store is always stocked and clean. I like the Starbucks department, but the service is super slow.
There’s also a Redbox inside right by the entrance door, very convenient.

I went to Safeway very early on a weekend morning & was in a hurry. The store was surprisingly busy. Edwin helped me check out with the self-​checkout area. He was so nice and helpful! To be honest, I’ve really never had a bad experience there, but I feel he deserves mention. The store is great!

I am giving a high review, because I had an issue and was very happy with how management handled it. I ordered a cake with the bakery about 1 week before my party, a gentleman in the department was very kind and spent a lot a time explaining everything to me. A few days later I ordered my cake and the woman associate, she was very nice and accurately took my order. I went in to pick up my cakes, but I was in a hurry. I completely forgot about my smash cake, and realized at check out that the rhinestone ribbon I requested was missing. I was already running late for my own party so I didn’t have time to go back and deal with it and get my missing cake. I called a few days later and spoke with Jennifer, one of the store managers, she was very happy to resolve the issue and she did. The cake still turned out cute, but the ribbon would of brought it to a whole new level. And my one year old was just as happy with a slice of cake as opposed to her whole cake.

Worst deli ever. Alexus and Andrew are awful. They heated up the ingredients one at a time. Egg. Then potato. Then sausage. Then the burrito itself. 20 minutes!

Safeway always my choice to shop at, so of course I stop here. What happen to Antioch Safeway? What happen to Antioch? It’s a bit GHETTO than it was 5 years ago. Anyways back to Safeway the bakery doesn’t seem fresh, of course if the bakery not fresh then you can’t trust the deli. I found what I needed but a few shelves were empty. However for a last minute shopping in a last resort city this will do.

I love the employees but this place has been a hot mess ever since Issac left a few years ago. I guess the company should treat their management better!

Do something about your bitter ass gas station guy Chris. Dude has the ugliest attitude of anyone associated with Safeway. His people skills are –5 stars unless your a girl in booty shorts he treats u like your a POS. F him, write his ass up

Absolutely ridiculous.
The lines were so long that they blocked isles. Many people could have easily used the «express» lane cutting down on the gridlock but no one saw fit to have one open. This kind of wait to buy a few items combined with not having any baggers is what I would expect from a store like WinCo where I could at least enjoy lower prices.
Also, can you please turn the air on in the store? It was so hot just standing there that I started to sweat and I’m a skinny guy if you must know.
This store is in serious need of some competent leadership and I hope that someone from Safeway actually monitors these comments, takes this seriously, and addressing this stuff before you lose more customers.

Love Safeway but this has got to be the hoodest (if it’s a word) I have ever been to !!! I feel like I’m in the middle of east oakland with the characters that shop there but the prices are still the same $$$$$$$ oh well! The Safeway in Pleasant hill and Brentwood are a lot more pleasant.

They are a ripoff on gas prices. As of June 6^th 2015 they sell gas at $ 3.35 a gallon in Antioch while in neighboring cities like
Pleasant Hill $ 3.15 gallon
Tracy $ 3.15 a gallon
Sacramento $ 3.07 a gallon
San Jose $ 3.09 a gallon
Vallejo $ 3.17 a gallon
Antioch $$ 3.35 a gallon
Costco is $ 3.12 a gallon. I quit shopping at Safeway in protest a long time ago. I shop at Costco because that’s the cheapest gas in Antioch so if I get my gas there then I buy groceries there.
What pisses me off is they sell gas very cheap in Pleasant Hill and raise gas prices in Antioch to make up for lowering Gas prices there.
I’m guessing Safeways District manager lives in Concord or Pleasant hill so he makes it cheaper there.

Safeway was busy a usual. Employees are super nice. The parking area was busy. The grocery store was clean with lots of light. The sandwich line was super busy and in high demand for their delicious sandwiches. Someone should open a sandwich shop in the Deer Valley Square shopping center across the street and give these great people some competition. Love the Starbucks but wouldn’t mind a Starbucks store nearby too.
This location is super close to everything. It’s nice that lots of nice homes are all nearby to shop instead of having to drive across town to get your groceries. Very grateful for this lovely Safeway. The location is perfect.

The staff are nice enough and try really hard. The lines are often super slow @ peak times… but i have also experienced the same thing in other Safeways around the bay area. Some of the clientele are sketchy, glad they have security in and around the store.

It’s typically very clean and easy to navigate…
My main issue is ALWAYS with the checkout lines. The week before thanksgiving and only 2 registers open?! It makes it nearly ImPossible to walk trough the front of the store
Especially when you need something up there. And when you finally get to a cashier they just looked pissed. I would be too if I were them. Open up more and help the guys out!

Typical Safeway. One thing different about this one is that they have a sushi and asian food section (in addition to the their deli sandwiches). Their chow mein is good but I would stay away from the other stuff. Sushi are made fresh daily and kept in a display case. It’s not bad but don’t expect it to be cheap. Typically will cost about $ 10.00 for a small tray which is comparable to restaurant pricing.
Their sandwiches, I’m not a big fan of; but their fried chicken and chicken strips are not bad and good value.
Their groceries are okay and produce are fresh although not as cheap as FoodMaxx. Shelves are stocked full and arranged logically.
One thing I hate is their lack of cashiers. Expect to spend 15+ minutes waiting to pay for your purchases on a Friday afternoon as the times I went, there were only three cashiers plus one cashier managing the self checkout section.

This place got ahi poke and limu poke. If you like Hawaiian style ahi tuna. This is my go to spot. Yum! It’s in their butcher section seafood. My favorite spot. Don’t need to drive to so just to fix my craving, will be coming here at least 2 times week. Keep it coming safeway! Just as long as you have this I’m your favorite customer!

I’m going to be very cautious buying organic from Safeway from now on.
I usually go to Trader Joe’s for organic fruits, but lately I found that Safeway had a pretty good selection. The last time I bought avocados here they were great! I went in yesterday 8÷7÷2014 and I saw that their organic avocados were a bit skimpy. I squeezed a few of them & they were SQUISHY!!! Totally rotten!!! But I found 2 that felt pretty firm. So cool, I probably scored the last 2 good ones… WRONG!!! I got them home & sliced them open and this is what I got…
ROTTEN ORGANIC AVOCADOS:
There were maybe 2 dozen organic avocados still sitting there! Like I said ALL OF THEM were squishy!!! Is there no quality control at Safeway? Do they expect customers to buy these rotten avocados? Or like me, find a couple that I «think» are fine but bring them home to find they’re rotten?!
Never buying avocados here again!!! And I think I’m just going back to Trader Joe’s & Again, I’m going to be very cautious buying organic from Safeway from now on.
