Sweet baby James am I in love. I’ve worked at the Rachel Upjohn Building since the day it opened, but as I don’t drink coffee, I never ventured to the café in the basement of the East Ann Arbor Health Center next door. But as I was out late last night and failed to make myself something of sustenance to get me through the day, I wandered over on the rumor that they had food of some sort. Boy do they ever. I love soup. Love it, don’t eat enough of it, will partake in it every chance I get. So you can imagine my exulted joy when I see: Soups of the day: Caribbean Jerk Chicken and Cheddar Potato. Yum a dum dum! It was a tough choice, but I went with the Jerk Chicken and I can’t remember the last time I was so satiated. And the best part — are you ready for this — $ 2.50. So while I can’t vouch for their coffee and I’m not a panini guy, the soup at Java City is pretty fabulous and awfully cheap. The selection is small and its not like you’re going to travel here(or their other locations throughout campus) specifically for their wares, but man, you can’t do much better in the basement of the out of the way health clinic.
