I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed both trips. I had the 2 Am burger, it was great. It says it has a cheddar fondue, but it seemed more like melted sliced cheese. It also was topped with fried pickles, and bacon. The fried pickles were amazing, I wish I had more. The burger had great flavor and I loved the pretzel bun it came on. It came with a side of house made chips that were crisp, but not too hard and had good flavor. I’m not a fan of beer, but my friends tried a few and really enjoyed the selections. The atmosphere is great. Parking is a bear and service was a little slow, but I would definitely return.

I always use the parking lot across from GP when I’m in Ann Arbor. The place draws me in, usually just for a beer or two. Their seasonal beers are usually what I go for and have always left very happy. Their menu is cool and offers some unique selections, however like I said, I’m usually just in for the beers. I’ve had dinner once but it was so long ago & I would not be able to give fair judgement of the food. I would be happy to give their food another try, should the opportunity arise. The atmosphere is nicer than many of the breweries I’ve visited. It’s welcoming and relaxed but the beautiful dark wood & high booths give it a bit of a nicer feel. This place is a staple in Ann Arbor & I know I’ll be back many times in the future!

Nice décor and a cute menu. I tried their Homemade Shandy and if I wasn’t traveling 10 hours I would have bought some. Their burgers are good but nothing special. The buns are fresh and a burger without a good bun is nothing. They have a beer sampler which looked cool. Also prices are decent.

Let me start off by saying this review is based solely on the atmosphere and food. I do not drink so I cannot comment on that aspect of Grizzly Peak although it seems they have an extensive beer selection for those interested. To start off with the positives. This place has a great vibe and the outdoor seating was really nice. Also, the staff was quite friendly and service was prompt. Unfortunately, I did not feel the food matched the quality of service. I ordered the Kobe burger and right away noticed the burger was overcooked and frankly lacked flavor. I tried a bite of the beef by itself and it was quite bland, pretty disappointing. The sweet potato fries were good, but honestly there are 20 other places in town to get similar sweet potato fries so this wasn’t necessarily a redeeming quality. My girlfriend got the Salmon BLT which I have to say was pretty flavorful. I do question the choice to serve it on a large piece of bread though… I’m not expecting a ton of salmon for 15 $, but the large bread just makes it look even smaller… Overall, great atmosphere and service I just wish the food had been on par.

Great food, but a little pricey for what you get. There were a decent amount of vegetarian options. I ordered the truffle mac and cheese($ 15) which was really good. I had a peach Moscow mule($ 8) which was also good, but a little too sweet for my taste. My brother got the mushroom burger and liked it. Overall good atmosphere and decent food, but definitely expensive.

We were walking around downtown Ann Arbor trying to find a location to grab a bite. The prime spot was a place that had a TV because the game was on. We opted for this location. It has a good atmosphere and a few TV’s. We were seated at the window but we asked to be seated somewhere where we could watch the game. I had the Salmon minis and sweet potato fries. They asked how I would like for the salmon to be cooked which was different. I opted for medium well. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and my friend agreed. The sweet potato fries were also great. The waitress was attentive but faded off towards the end of the meal. We wanted more drinks but they must have decided to take a spontaneous break. Overall a good experience.

After an early morning flight we stumbled into this place just as they were opening. Craft beers at 11:00 am, sure. Food was delicious, service great, and a couple of good solid crafts were the perfect precursor to a nap.

Love this place. Great food and drink and never over populated and busting at the seams. Service is solid and I always leave full and happy.

Grizzly Peak, just a block off Main Street, has been a mainstay in downtown A-squared for many years. I’ve always loved the atmosphere here… dark, private booths, lots of oak, plenty of exposed brick. The food however, can be hit or miss. We stopped in mid-afternoon on a weekday when it was especially quiet and chill. I started with a cup of Grizzley’s highly-touted Cheddar Ale Soup which is always a guaranteed home run. I then took a flier by ordering the Hawaiian Pizza while my wife went the more conventional bar-food route with a Kobe Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. The pizza was… meh…while the Japanese beef delicacy hit the mark. Once again, the Peak demonstrated what it takes for a bar/restaurant to have longevity in this college town.

Three of us on a Saturday night at 6pm. We were seated right away, next to the kitchen counter(ugh), but we took it. Tried the beer sampler — it was a sloppy mess. All the glasses were wet and sitting in beer slopped into the cubbys on the tray which meant EVERYTIME you picked up a glass to taste, you has beer dripping down your arms, face, etc. Not a well thought out set up. Beers were fine — we tasted 9. The food was hit & miss. The fried cheese appetizer was great! My husband’s ribs might possibly be the best we have ever had. Really! They were awesome. The fish was good but the fries/chips were cold and we had to ask for a new order. The pizza was yuck. Stay away from that. Burned bottom, very little topping, soggy middle. Service was fine too. We would try some place else unless we wanted ribs, then no question it would be back here.

Went for brunch on Mother’s Day and had a wonderful time. Service was stellar as our party had multiple food issues. Our server, Destiny, was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. The food was uniformly good. I had the brunch special French Toast and it was yummy but could have used more caramel for my taste. Also had a hard cider that I loved and my sister finished every drop of her house brewed beer. Impressed with the level of organization here, and I’ve worked in many restaurants! A big hit with us, we’re already looking forward to going back.

We came back this place on a busy Wednesday evening around graduation time at UMich. My fiancé and I have just arrived after a cross country flight from California, so I was famished given I don’t usually eat much food on the plane(I get motion sick). Everyone got some type of burger around the table. I got their normal burger with a side of string fries. Their string fries was pretty excellent. However, the burger was overcooked and burned. I asked for a medium burger. The burger came with one side pretty much charred, and the inside very well cooked. It was late and I didn’t bother asking them to recook my burger. Overall, it’s a pretty okay college town establishment with a decent drink menu, but their burgers: meh.

Great service. Chill atmosphere. Watermelon Moscow Mule: oh god. I only wish it came in a bigger cup. They also have blueberry and peach. Pork belly burger: order medium-rare but it came out more on the raw side. Pretzel bun was great. A good burger but I was expecting the pork belly to be crispy. Kind of a disappointment. Overall: probably go if I was craving a burger and ready to spend a good amount of money. Otherwise, no.

SETTING: Reminds me of a log cabin or ski lodge. Dimly lit venue split into 3 main areas: the bar, the main area, and a back area. Pretty big size. Bathrooms in the back and downstairs. FOOD/DRINKS: The appetizers were solid, especially cheese curds. I had cheese curds once elsewhere before and it was not my thing. So, I was a bit skeptical when the group ordered it. But… it tasted really good here! It kind of tasted like the cheese in melted mozarella sticks, but fried with a fish & chips type of batter. Sauce was great too with a spicy kick. The soft pretzels were not bad, but I would definitely go with the cheese curds which is good enough to share with 3 – 4 people. For drinks I got the Steelhead Red, which is a good light drink. For my dinner, I got the Brewary steak sandwich that everyone was raving about on Unilocal.Perhaps my expectations were off. The medium rare I requested was more of a medium/well done in that the meat was tough to cut with a knife. The potato pancakes used as the bun were kind of lukewarm. The bacon also wasn’t very crispy and I really had to bite into it. I like the concept of the sandwich, and I think this would be a great meal if tweaked a bit. SERVICE: A bit spotty. The waitress was available in the beginning to take our orders for appetizers and drinks. Then she disappeared for a good while. Then we flagged her down to put in more orders. After we got our dinner, she checked on us way more frequently. IMPRESSIONS: All in all, not a bad place to hangout. It’s pretty lowkey and quiet on a weekday evening. The cheese curds and drinks were the best part of my experience here. Everyone else in my group was not as impressed with the meals.

Great beers lots of options. I sat at the bar and the bar tender explained the beers perfectly. The food is super tasty as well. I got the cheese curds they were amazing super ooey gooey. I also got the fruit pie which was great super sweet and crunchy. The beers are full flavor and robust.

Not a big fan of the pesto here, it was super flavorful but a bit too strange for my taste. The pizzas were super interesting, really creative toppings that everyone seemed to enjoy. Had the mushroom burger here previously which I really enjoyed, and the kale salad which was sadly nothing other than kale. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who eats meat, so I don’t think my judgment is super fair since my vegetarian diet is restricted and this isn’t the best place for vegetarians. Definitely recommend giving this place a fair shot, it can either be a hit or a miss, in my opinion. Menu has some really great options.

Loved, loved, loved that we could sit outside in mid October! We had a variety of beers and apps. I had the Cider, which was delicious and the pork sliders — to dies for! The shredded pork and slivered pickles on a moist, warm bun was just right. We also shared the cheese bites which for me were a little salty, but still delicious. Our group raved about the mussels and sausage! If you like them, I suppose they are fantastic! I’m not a fan! The friend polenta was amazing, which its crispy outer crunch and savory and soft inside tasted so good with the southwestern dipping sauce. Finally, we had the pretzels and dip. They were warm, soft and slated just right! Sometimes sharing small plates is not such a good idea!!!

We went on a busy Friday night of a football weekend and had a great meal. The food is on par with what you’d expect from a brew pub. I had the pretzel crusted chicken and it was awesome — super crispy and so flavorful thanks to the honey mustard glaze(which still allowed it to be crispy… amazing!). The pesto ranch also deserves a special shout out.

3 stars for food. 4 stars for beer! Came here with a group of 15 on a Saturday night and the place wasn’t too crowded. The menu has dozens of options covering burgers, pizza, pasta, salads, fish, etc. Ended up getting the fish and chips, but they were SO greasy! The tartar sauce was very nice, clearly homemade and fresh! We got pitchers of the Victors’ Gold and it was wonderful. Service was good and the food came out decently fast! I would def come back here for the beer again!

The group I work with has been going to GP for a staff dinner for almost a decade now, and in that time I have eaten just about everything on the menu. While I think the quality has started to slip overtime its certainly possible to get a great meal if you follow my tips. So here is the insiders guide to the GP Apps Do get –Cheese curds. These are becoming more common outside of the MN state fair for a reason– cheese good, fried good, grease– good. Put those 3 together and you have a mouthwatering bite of metabolic syndrome in the making. The dipping sauce is meh, so I advise going raw. –Polenta fries– these are absolutely magical. Usually for our group of 20 or so we get approx. 500 orders of polenta fries and none of them go to waste. They are best served piping hot so its important that the second they come to the table you stuff your mouth with as many as possible. –Calamari– not my personal favorite but my business associates turn into a sharknado-esque feeding frenzy when these get brought to the table so they must be good. Don’t get –Wings– pretty subpar. Way overcooked, sauces are pretty bland, just mediocre in every way. –Pretzel bread sticks– these are ok in a vacuum, but compared to the things above they just don’t make the cut –Bruschetta– I mean, if someone in your party orders this at any restaurant the correct response is to get up and leave for another table not full of idiots. Main Courses So they have 2 steaks. Steak frites, and Hangar steak. Every year I can’t remember which one is amazing and which one is terrible. I am writing this review primarily so that next year I can remember as last night I blundered Good: Hangar Steak Well seasoned, delicious sauce, great mash potatoes, you can ignore the seasonal vegetables to save room for more cheese curds. Bad: Steak Frites My steak last night was horrendous. It is extremely thin so if you order it say, medium rare, by the time the meat is cooked there is no crust and the fat is still basically raw. Not good for a ribeye. Duck fat fries are my siren song and I always think«well those will be great». They aren’t– always soft/mushy, not crisp. A disaster. Good– Steak Sandwich This is pretty weird. It has like potato pancakes instead of bread for the sandwich but it is damn tasty. Bad –Salmon This isn’t terrible, but it is vastly inferior to the other options. Good– Baked Mac and Cheese This is super rich and too much for some people, but those people should go back to Canada. Bad– Ribs If you have ever had good ribs these will be an affront to your tastebuds, ancestors, and ancestors tastebuds. Dessert Ok so there are like 6 desserts. Any reasonable Unilocaler knows to ignore things like«seasonal fruit pie» so it really comes down to 2 choices Truffle Cake Black and Tan brownie I have had each probably at least 4 times and I can tell you that the hands down winner is the brownie. It is way gooier(sorry to bust out science terms), and much more rich. The Truffle cake is good, but it is sort of bland, obviously you can order different ice cream but as a general rule of thumb anything paired with«espresso«ice cream is garbage.

We came here on our last trip to Ann Arbor because of the beer sampler. We wanted to get a taste of the Michigan beers without actually ordering 9 different beers! There was a bit of a wait when we first showed up but they had a good system of texting you when your table was ready so we could explore other places on Main Street while we waited. I really wish more places would do this. When we were seated we were sadly informed that they were already out of 2 of the 9 beers so we got a seven beer sampler instead. Sampling the beers was a lot of fun and was definitely a good option for us. For food we ordered the kobe burger and the brewery steak sandwich. Both of them came with chips — fries were extra. I ended up adding on the cheddar and ale soup to my burger order because I thought it would go well with the beer. My god it was a lot of food! The kobe burger was very good but it was very difficult to eat haha — still thoroughly enjoyed it though! The soup was also very good but I actually preferred it as a dipping sauce for the chips more than as a soup. My boyfriend liked his brewery steak sandwich — I thought the«bun» was very interesting and tasty! Overall definitely more food than we should have ordered but definitely worth it at least once to get a taste of Ann Arbor! PS: My only peeve was that we didn’t get our silverware/napkins right when we were seated. This was annoying for us because we split something and had to actually ask for napkins that didn’t come with our silverware. I think napkins and silverware at the beginning is pretty standard and necessary.

What other awesomeness can I find at GP?! First the mussels and now the Salmon BLT… Oh snap! Sushi grade salmon on grilled farm bread with their tasty french fries was a fantastic lunch. Salmon is cooked to order(seared-but rare) Herbed mayo on the side was great for dipping fries or complimented the fish nicely. I had to take off the bread to be able to finish. It was a lot and easily shareable with someone. Best sandwich I have had in a long time. Highly recommended.
