I had purchased a Groupon for this place, since I always like to try new bakeries and support local businesses. I drove up from Grimes, and thank goodness for GPS because it was tough to find. I wasn’t sure what they would have for options, and while they didn’t have the vast selection of a huge bakery, the selection they had was good. I opted for some scotcheroos, pecan rolls, and cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls were fresh from the oven, and WOW. Some of the best I’ve had. Let’s talk about the frosting – AMAZING. Better than Cinnamon. The pecan rolls, microwaved for a few seconds, are to DIE for. Worth the drive. Yum!

I like this bakery, but am bothered by the lackluster customer service. Every time I walk in, they look at me like I’m interrupting them or inconveniencing them. I am very friendly but they never seem to reciprocate. Anyway… the bakery items are delicious. The cupcakes, scotcheroos, cakes, cake pops, cookies, etc. are all good. They don’t typically have a very good variety of items though. Sometimes my daughter and I go in to get a treat and they don’t have much there, or anything we want. Go to Main Street Café & Bakery instead if you want to be guaranteed a good variety of wonderful treats and GREAT customer service. I will likely order specialty cakes from Sweet to Eat though because their cakes are delicious and it looks like they can do beautiful custom creations.

ABSOLUTELYAMAZING! YOUMUSTGONOW! Sweet To Eat Bakery and Cake Shop is definitely our #1 bakery place to head in Ankeny. Their baked goods are extremely fresh and well thought out. I enjoyed a raspberry and white chocolate scone that was hands down the best scone I have ever tasted. The texture was extremely light and moist. It almost reminded me of a cake texture but in scone form. It was not crumbly(which is a pet peeve of mine) and each bite had raspberry and white chocolate in it. I don’t know how they manage that but I am glad they know how to do a scone right. I said several times that I wanted it to never end and almost bought them out of scones for the day. They have really good coffee too — they might want to consider sleeves for the to-go coffee as the cup gets really hot. If there are sleeves, we definitely missed them. We will be back soon — definitely a place we will take our visitors from out of town when they visit. Keep up the great baking!

I have used them for my baking needs multiple times. Most recently we celebrated National Pie Day(3⁄14) by ordering 5 pies for my team at work. The team loved them so much that we had to divy up the remaining pies for them to take home. They have also made me several cakes for special occasions. Great detail, and great pricing. I am having them make a cake for my wife’s upcoming 35th birthday, wouldn’t think of going anywhere else.

Such a cute little shop! Kinda hard to find but with it. Super cozy with nice furniture to enjoy a baked good. Not a ton of selection but what they do have is done really well and tastes like home! Prices are competitive with other local bakeries! Cake pops are super moist! Very yummy. I will have to go back to try more!!!
