I don’t give out many one star reviews… but I feel like this theater warrants it and here is why: 1. They charge for kids 2 and under. They wanted to charge me to take my two year old(who would sit on my lap) to a kids movie that wasn’t even sold out. Seriously… my kid wasn’t even two yet how in the world is that right??? Even airlines don’t charge for kids under two but this movie theater does. YUK. Money Grubbing. 2. I don’t know whether you call it RACISM or GENDERISM or PROFILING or whatever. But my 16 year old son went to go watch a movie on his birthday with a friend of his. My son likes to carry his backpack along with him pretty much everywhere he goes(another long story). So I buy them their tickets and they walk into the theater. As soon as they are admitted a 6 foot 6 ticket guy comes rushing after them telling my son that he can’t bring his backpack in. I say ok… why? they tell me its because of SAFETY after what happened in Colorado. So I think to myself ok that makes sense EXCEPT for the fact that as they were talking to us a CAUCASIAN woman with a bag the size of a small child walked right in without ANYISSUE! Now hold on a minute, first you say my son can’t go in with his back up but a woman can go in with a purse that I could fit my two year old in??? Their response«Well it’s different for women because they need to bring in their feminine products.» WOW. So based on what Springwood 9 is telling me you can’t bring in a backpack unless you are a woman and need to bring in feminine products. Then there is a different set of rules. Wake up Springwood, a policy on safety should apply ACROSSTHEBOARD. Think about it. When you get on a plane for our SAFETY they apply the rules to everyone not just teenage kids that are not WHITE. So I ask Kelly, «Is this a man/woman thing? You mean that as a man my son can’t bring a back pack but a woman can bring in a purse??» Kelly’s response«I guess so, yes» So then I say«So…if my son comes back with his mom’s purse you will let him in???» Kelly’s response«Yes» WOW…COMPLETEINSANITYINTHISTHEATER. Rules of logic obviously do not apply here. the only reason I come here is because they have a monopoly in Ankeny, otherwise I would be somewhere else.

This theater is over-priced for what it is. I went to a showing last night and all around the room I heard people say their seats were broken. The sound also leaves a lot to be desired(it was turned down some and there was very little bass). The whole theater is small and worn out looking. For the same price you can go to a much newer, nicer theater a little further away. The stadium seating and the staff are nice, but that doesn’t justify the price.

Well, the only movie theater I go to in Ankeny… Of course I’m going to say it is good. It does not really differ from other movie theaters, there are no features that stand out. It is hidden behind a building so you may miss it when driving by. Parking is easy here and never had it too crowded in the theater before.
