This section of Thruway is slightly more lovable than the section heading East from Buffalo to Everywheresville, NY. Firstly because it takes you away from the confines of NY state and whisks you to the PA border in under an hour, and doesn’t charge you an Airport Plaza Jewelers Arm & A Leg for it. Secondly because this is some of the WORSTSNOWTERRAININTHEUSA and they manage to keep it open most of the time, and in decent condition. Thirdly because I take this road to eat delicious food in Cleveland, Pittsburgh or Chicago. Or get to the Deep South. Or get to Texas. Or get to Cali. Or get to Seattle. Or get to Walla Walla, WA. Or Intercourse, AL. And so on. Fourthly because a girl that I thought was a super duper hottie was at Fredonia so I used to drive this road regularly to spend the night with her. But still, NYS should not be charging for the use of its roads. And the only service plaza on this stretch(Angola) is pitiful, you have to walk across the highway to use the services(in the middle), it’s overpriced and not very frio. Except weather wise.

Come on… join the 1980s and start taking credit cards. The Ohio Turnpike does. Don’t offer me E-ZPass as the way to use my credit card.

On the road heading South. From Buffalo that means taking this part of the Thruway until PA. The NYS Thruway system is actually pretty good. They keep the roads cleared from snow well. Not many potholes, or not that I found anyway. The exits are easy on and off. This is not the cheapest Thruway, largly since others are free to use. However, it is well plowed, EZPass works well and all in all, its all good.
