Best breakfast around. The food is amazing. It does get crowded and the line extends outside, so plan accordingly.

Was in town for work and my boss took me to Shawsheen for lunch. I hadn’t really eaten much for breakfast that day(still had to get my Dunkin’ fix in MA however), so I was in the mood for some good lunchtime breakfast food. Shawsheen definitely hit the spot. I got the special, a ghost pepper cheese, chili-filled omelette with hashbrowns. It was fantastic. I’m kind of spice-fiend, so I must admit I was expecting the ghost pepper cheese to be a little hotter, but then again, it was probably perfect for a normal human-being. I think the location is nice, and the atmosphere seems perfect for a homey Andover restuarant. Next time I’m back in the area I’ll have to try some other food, and I’m glad I got a chance to eat some quality food at Shawsheen.

By far one of the best breakfast spots in NE. I had the Barn in the Yard thing with Johnny Cakes basically a cornbread pancake… OMG to die for. The portions are great and the coffee was some of the best I have had in a while. This place is so popular that it gets packed pretty quick… Not a fan of having people linger over me as I eat watching me and telling me to hurry up with their eyes… But really good… So worth the 1 hour and a half wait some times… Staff was accommodating and so nice.

Been here a few times on various weekdays, so we never had to wait for a table. Even so, this place is always busy. Service is always friendly and fast! I always get some sort of breakfast and a coffee, but my dining partners have gotten lunch items as well, and loved everything they’ve tried. I really like it here, when I’m in the area I do try to stop in — the coffee is delicious as are all the dishes I’ve had. Parking can be tough since its at a busy intersection in Andover, but is worth it!

The Best Breakfast around! Hands down! Only draw back are the tight quarters… but the BESTBREAKFAST food that we have had anywhere around here… and we have tried every diner from Reading to Lawrence and in between! Can’t beat the food here! Fresh and Delicious!

This would be 5 starts, but the bill was a little outrageous. The server at the bar was awesome. She was friendly, attentive and fun. The purple hair normally signifies laziness, but i_pleasantly surprised. She made the $ 15 omelet easier to swallow. If you don’t mind the cost, you should go here. Good breakfast and good staff

Went for the first time today and we def found our new breakfast spot. The menu is pretty basic which I like for a breakfast place but they do have a nice specials list. Coffee tastes great! We tried the French toast croissant, corn beef hash & eggs and the Johnny cakes. The French toast croissant was good but compared to everything else I wasn’t crazy impressed. The fruit on top was fresh which was delish. The corn beef hash and eggs on the other hand was out of this world. They have several types of hash… corn beef, vegetable, chicken and sausage(I think?). The Johnny cakes are a crossbreed between a pancake and a corn muffin. They have legit pieces of corn in them and are very sweet. We didn’t even need to put syrup. We will absolutely be going back! The waitress recommended the coffeecake French toast for next time.

My last review wasn’t too cool & I’m sorry about that! There are good days– and not so good ones, I’m sure in the restaurant world. just like anything else. This restaurant is very convenient for me. Therefore, I decided to give The Shawsheen Luncheonette another shot, returning for breakfast on a weekday. MUCHBETTER! I always order the Johnny Cakes and scrambled eggs. My dining companion always orders an omelet — usually The Potato Head. And, this time around they did not disappoint. Both of our meals were excellent! The service was also great. Perhaps due to a weekday/time(9:00) when they are not as busy? So, now I’m back on track! which is a good thing : —)

A great place for breakfast or brunch. Nothing fancy, but the food is tasty and the coffee is remarkably good. Expect to wait a little while on the weekends as it gets quite busy.

This place has some of the best breakfast and brunch selections in town! My only gripe with this place is that its tiny! one often has to wait to for seats to become available, and its a seat yourself kind of joint. As far as their food goes; I love their sweet potato pancakes! their chicken hash is also pretty damn tasty. They have such a great selection of food! Price wise, they are right on the money! not too expensive. If you are willing to wait in line for some amazing food… this place is worth just about every minute of that wait. Also, sweet potato pancakes! do it!

By far, this is my favorite breakfast spot whenever I’m home from college. The food is delicious, service is great, & the atmosphere is splendid. The chocolate pancakes are always cooked to perfect(fluffy and light), the omelette is made with just the right amount/type of cheese so that it’s not overbearing, and the coffee is simply delicious. Whenever my mom and I visit Shawsheen Luncheonette, we share a single chocolate pancake and a create-your-own omelette(cheese, spinach, mushroom, tomato, onion, and sausage) that also comes with two extra sides(toast & hash browns for us). Plenty for two. What a cute, lovely place to catch up with family or friends when you’re in the Andover area. Although there has ALWAYS been a wait and a line out the door every time I’ve visited, I would 100% recommend waiting because the food is worth it!

I been coming here for the past few years. This place by far is my favorite breakfast spot in the area. Coffee always on point, the food I don’t have one complaint, omelette, pancakes, chicken hash or beef by far the best. The breakfast specials is a must try. Always something new.

The place always has a line out the door. One of the owners was nice enough to make my daughter a hamburger on a Sunday even though they don’t typically server lunch food on the weekends. The restaurant is a «seat yourself» place and it typically has a line out the door on the weekends. It is your typical eggs and bacon breakfast joint. I thought the omelette that I ordered was very good at the time and my mother thought her eggs were very good at the time. About an hour or so later we both were not feeling great, I think the grease or something didn’t sit well. Could it of been a one-time bad experience? Sure… The lines don’t lie in this pricey area of MA where people can go anywhere for breakfast food. I would have to say that Matty’s in Salem, NH is still my breakfast choice over this restaurant.

Coffee good and hot. Not easy to get a refill. Eggs, hash browns and chorizo excellent, served quickly and hot. A slight delay in getting my toast as the waitress was chatting up a regular. Highly recommend for the food but the service not so much.

This is not the place for fresh-squeezed orange juice, espresso drinks and brioche. This is the place for regular coffee, great solid food and friendly service. They do have some amazing healthy options like the breakfast salad. I was hoping for the spicy pork hash others had mentioned, but they didn’t have it that day. They are able to add poblanos to the chicken hash. I had 2 eggs over hard, hash browns and wheat toast. I was surprised that the chicken hash was just hash browns, chicken pieces and poblanos. Usually there are onions at least. It was good chicken, wonderfully crunchy hash browns and the eggs were done perfectly, so not much to complain about. Solid food with updated healthy options in a classic diner setting make Shawseens worth a try.

Good food and variety. Coffee not so good, ie cheap. A little on the expensive side. Service was almost not existent for drink refills. Otherwise service was friendly. Just read someone else really liked the coffee?!? For frame of reference, I’m originally from Lower New York state, and have lived in MA for more than half of my life. Also have traveled extensively around the world. Maybe that one person who liked the coffee was native to Andover, MA? The fruit is disgusting. The regular pancakes taste like bacon grease. 2.0 stars

By far the best breakfast and lunch menu in Andover! I’ve been going to the Shawsheen Luncheonette for about 8 years now and they never falter in quality, consistency, and service. It’s home-cooked, bar none. You know you’re at the right place when you see a line forming outside their door. The wait is worth it, trust me.

For two years this has been my go to spot. I tried others in the Andover area and while there are other places to get a decent breakfast the competition isn’t close: Shawsheen Luncheonette is the best breakfast you can find anywhere around this area. Saturdays at 7am you can find me ordering one of their many hash offerings. Staff is great if you are a regular but I can see someone easily being frustrated if they are a new customer and if you are there at a busy time. YES, it is worth the wait: peak hours can mean 30 minute wait or more but you can’t find better breakfast in a 30 mile radius. Coffee is nothing special so I don’t know why some maniac was touting its merits but with so many great options and consistently great food you shouldn’t care. Spicy pork hash, chicken hash are tops. The breakfast sandwich is excellent also but be warned: they do not have sausage PATTIES so if you get a sandwich with sausage you’ll have to deal with butterflied links and it makes for some messy eating. We live very. close to this place and have seen lines put. of the door almost every weekend. We wanted to go there for a while and finally we gad a chance this past weekend The place is very small and also prices are big. The food is I guess the same as other places since if u look at it how differebt can an omelet or waffle be I got veggie onelet with ghost pepper cheese which was def spicy and the omelet was the same as other people so was potatoes and hash brown. My wife had a plain waffle which looked really good The place is not bad at all but then again how different can a breakfast be since I felt I had same kind of omelet and orange juice at other places for cheaper price. Def andover location prices. Go try it out I can tell you you wont be disappointed but also wont be wow’d
