Awesome Austin’s DJ Service

Awesome Austin is definitely NOT awesome! I know my review is delayed seeing that I used his services at my wedding in 2012; however brides and grooms out there need to know how horrible of a dj he really is. At least don’t waste your money. We paid him $ 500 and I regret every penny! He did show up on time; however he did not listen to the type of music that was decided upon during our phone conversations.
During dinner, I wanted something different played so I figured being the bride he would honor my request of changing the style of music that was on. But that’s not what happened at all. When I approached him and his assistant about it, they told me they were busy and that they would change it when they had a moment. I was not a bridezilla by any means so when they told me this, I responded with telling them my guests are even saying the music choices were not the best. He was playing music that was fit for a retirement party. I asked a second time and attitude again. He was horrible at mc-​ing as well. My coordinator was annoyed by him also as he didn’t follow her set plans either. I honestly could go on and on but I don’t need to waste anymore energy on Awful Austin! Just wanted to give others a heads up.
And btw, Austin I hope you enjoyed the cupcakes. Many of my guests said they saw you shovel in your mouth about 10 or so. Maybe some of that sugary energy should have been put towards finding my requested play list. And the complementary CD was horrible as well. He didn’t even put any of our important songs on it. I wish I could give him ZERO star because that’s what he deserves.
If you are considering hiring Awful Austin, please reconsider!!!

My Friends and I have used Austin’s DJ Service here up North and in Southern Calif. in the San Fernando Valley and are ”Very Happy” and ”Completely Satisfied” with his DJ Service. Austin brings ”Good Energy” & a ”Commanding Presence” to Your Events and only wants the «Best» for his Clients and their Party Event. Awesome Austin is truly (‘AWESOME’) & is a Consummate Professional as a DJ and as a Topnotch Guitarist. I grew up in the same town as Austin, and My Friends recommended him for my Birthday Celebrations, and Family, and Class Reunions that my Friends and I have had. Austin (Really Knows How To Bring It!) & has been in the Music Entertainment Business, counting His Experience with Bands for close to 40 years. How does ”Awesome Austin” handle all this; is ”by Loving People, Wanting to do a Great Job, and ”ALWAYS” Wanting People to have a GOOD & FUN TIME, an (AWESOME TIME) if you will, My Friends!, ”This is What Awesome Austin’s DJ Service is About”,. ”SHOWING the LOVE”, being a ”TOTAL PROFESSIONAL”, and ”BRINGING THE VERY BEST” for YOUR PARTY OR EVENT!..

I truly wish it was possible to give 0 stars, because I would. Awful Austin, or Atrocious Austin would be a more fitting name.
Austin mumbled into the microphone and didn’t lower the music when he spoke. Nobody could hear or understand him. The head table was near his area and even we couldn’t understand him. He did not command the attention of the guests. Nobody paid any attention to him because nobody knew when he was talking. My sister actually had to take the microphone away from him at one point and be the MC herself because he was so inadequate. He completely screwed up the Father Daughter dance. My dad was unavailable at the time the song started. When Austin saw the bride standing alone on the dance floor for an extended time he could have easily fixed the situation by fading the song and saying something alone the lines of, «It looks the like the Father of the Bride is missing at this time, lets find him and start this again.» Instead, he continued to play the song — I even left the dance floor and he still played the song. I had to go up to him and request that my father be present during the Father Daughter dance. Apparently, one of my bridesmaids also tried to talk to him during the dance and Austin actually said, «How was I supposed to know?» Um… hello? Bride on the dance floor alone for two minutes? Not a hint?
I feel he was the low point of our entire wedding. I absolutely would not hire this man again. He is slow at everything he does. When the groom asked him to make an immediate announcement, he stared blankly at him. He screwed up the Money Dance because nobody could hear him. He told us he was unable to fade or stop a song when it was requested. I asked Austin to play a special song for my parents (they celebrated their 30^th wedding anniversary earlier this year and I wanted to play their wedding song). When he announced it, my mom could not hear him and she had no idea what was going on. Our guests were also confused and nobody understood how special the song was. I could go on and on.

Returning to Anderson from Sacramento for my wedding and trying to find a good DJ was, well, trying. I interviewed four other Redding/​Anderson DJs before meeting with Austin. While the other DJs were either a definite no, or a maybe, Austin seemed like a good fit and oh was he ever. I have picky music taste, and my husband likes completely different music than me. Austin listened to what we had to say and delivered. He played a great mix of music that kept everyone on the dance floor. If you are struggling with finding a DJ in the far northern California area, I highly recommend Austin. He even gives you a CD of all the best music from your event so you can listen and remember any time you want.
