One of the best burger places in town. Be prepared to wait during lunch hours… But it is worth it! Don’t come expecting any fancy aioli, of some grass fed so and so. But come prepared for good ol’ flattop burgers with any fixing you can imagine, and you will not be disappointed. Staff is awesome, and it definitely has its own vibe to the place. A staple of Spenard!

I had my eye on this place for a while and was over the moon when I finally got to try it. It’s a tiny joint but we were lucky enough to get a table. I’m a blue cheese gal so I had to go with the Stella burger with onion rings. It did not disappoint! For the price, the quantity and quality is great. For some the burger may be a bit big but it’s not TOO big and if you’re like me it’s actually the perfect size! Oozing cheese, all the toppings, fantastic flavor, and the bun actually held up thankfully since I had to squish it to fit in my mouth. Sometimes burgers drip all the grease and make the burger fall apart, ruining the experience entirely, but this burger didn’t do that! And the onion rings were on point with a great crispness. My boyfriend got the special and fries, which were also to die for. Now, anytime I’m craving a burger, it needs to be from here!

My husband and I thought we found a awesome burger place. Food was great, chili cheese fries were amazing. We went about 5 times in a month after trying it for the first time. The last time we went we both ending up with food poisoning. :(unfortunately we haven’t been back since.

Tommy’s Burger Stop is every definition of the phrases«hole in the wall» and«divey». But the reality is it supports the saying about holes in the wall being some of the best places to eat. Situated in a converted house between a pawn shop and liquor store in Spenard, once you pull up you may wonder about going inside. But follow the lines of people and you are truly in for a treat. Of course just don’t expect to stick around and openly find a table because Tommy’s only boasts 4 tables which are actually fashioned out of picnic tables. The easiest way to experience it is to call your order in and get it to go. And arrive early because if you arrive in the middle of a rush you may be waiting awhile. Having been to Tommy’s once before I decided to stop on a spur of the moment this afternoon to place a to go order while out running errands. I knew my arrival was pushing 11:30 and that actually may be too late. And I was correct. I arrived in the middle of a rush and squeezed into the last parking space in the area. I stepped inside to all tables filled and a line 4 deep at the register. Pretty much no breathing room left by this point. That coupled with an employee unloading supplies made for some interesting maneuvers. I half expected to hear Bowie’s «Let’s Dance» blaring over the speakers in a perfect example of the day’s operations. I was greeted quickly by a friendly employee. For some reason Tommy’s has always reminded me of the old show«Alice». I half expected to see Flo at the counter cracking her gum or Mel slinging burgers on the back grill. Greeted warmly as «honey» that day I did my Pasodoble move up to the register and ordered Stella Bleu burger with lettuce only, fries and a fountain drink to go. $ 18.50 was the total. As she swiped my card she asked me to move on over to the fountain drink machine to get my drink while my card ran. Dial up you know. Whew knew such a thing still existed in today’s modern technologies? Nothing fancy here folks! As I did that she expertly fielded phone calls and continued to take orders of the few people behind me all the while calling out names of customers whose orders were up. Angela is a great addition to the staff. And I happen to remember her name quite easily given it is my own. As my order was placed so began the waiting game. And more dance maneuvers of shuffling in and out while people tried to get in and out of the building. Finally a couple behind me had finished their lunch and I grabbed the only remaining table and planted my butt on it. It shouldn’t be too much longer after all. People continued to flow in and by that time a group of 3 from the local military base arrived. As soon as I saw them eyeing my table I knew they would be asking to either join me or if they could have my table. After some friendly banter and me giving up the table to them I rendezvoused back over to the soda machine and snuck in to grab another table that had just emptied. By that time my order was up and I moved to the front counter to grab it. In and out in about 15 minutes though it did seem longer. «Thanks sweetheart» was called as I exited stage left. When I arrived back at work and opened the container an audible«holy crap» emitted from my lips. I had forgotten how big these burgers were. That coupled with the ginormous container of fries. I could have easily made 3 meals out of all of it. The burger was hot and fresh and the tang of bleu cheese notable. Love a strong blue cheese and this did not disappoint. I also am one of the odd ones and love the fact that Tommy’s seasons their fries with pepper. A person after my own heart. I love the extra bite it gives to fries. Tommy’s continues to shine in my book. And easily rivals any of the other burgers in town that boast they are the best. Stop by for a bite. Just make sure to have on your dancing shoes.

Great food, always!!! I have tried quite a few of the burgers here and been happy with all of them. They know how to cook a burger well and they offer great variety. I love the onion rings. It’s a great place to split a meal as the portions are large. Too many times if eaten toooo much here. Always good meals. Love the staff too. Wish they had more seating.

I finally got the chance to go to Tommy’s Burger Stop after hearing so many good reviews on their burgers and believe me, they certainly did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is small and cozy with a few chairs and benches for eating, but I suspect the majority of their orders are for pick-up. It’s not exactly located in the best part of town, but don’t let that stop you from trying some of the best burgers that you can find in Anchorage. I was excited to try their specialty burgers so I ordered the Stella Bleu Burger. This was a cheeseburger lover’s dream come true. This came on a toasted Kaiser roll with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and mayo on a 5.5 oz. patty topped with bleu cheese crumbles AND mozzarella.(!!!) I have never had this combination of cheese on a burger before and it was a treat for the tastebuds. Seeing that I didn’t have lunch and was busy all day studying, I inhaled this beautiful work of art in just a few minutes. I also ordered a side of onion rings. They were okay not the best I’ve had so I focused all of my appetite on the Stella. This was a great way to close out a busy day. I plan on coming back to try out their Sweet Charlotte which has grilled mushrooms, avocado, and Jarlsberg Swiss cheese(definitely another winner) and if I’m feeling adventurous when it comes to cholesterol, the Spenard burger which is basically their bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg. Excuse me while I take a nap…

Tommy’s is my go to spot if I get a craving for a hamburger or veggie burger. My favorite of theirs is the Cajun french fries. They’re decently priced & delicious with BBQ sauce! YUM! Tommy’s employees are all super friendly, and will do their best to take care of you. I come in here from time to time & recommend this place if you want an authentic homemade burger fries, & Cajun style food.

I used to work here, so I really know the inside scoop! Tommy cares about his employees, and it shows through the amazing food. This place is cleaned spotless every day, and we even did regular«deep cleans» taking everything apart and away from walls and we would scrub and scrub until it was all super duper shiny and new again! The food is tremendous. Tommy does the shopping for the ingredients himself and he really cares about quality, the customers and the employees! Halibut Po Boy was my fave. Also, check for daily specials. It’s hard to find a better burger. Yum!

I am surprised that I’m impressed. I have been hearing about Tommy’s quite a bit in the last few months and finally decided to give it a shot, I like a good burger. The entrance is on the side and around a fence, then you walk in a mud room type space then walk into the actual establishment. The staff will give you a menu and there’s a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and po-boys. I got the Aloha Burger with fries and my boyfriend got an Aloha Philly sandwich. The prices were reasonable and the staff was super friendly. We grabbed the only semi-private-ish table in the back and waited for our food. As we waited, I spied a plate of onion rings being taken to another patron and I decided I needed some in my life. I hurried to the front to ask the lady at the register if it was too late to change my order. She told me our food was almost done, but did ask if I wanted to add some to our order… She must’ve been able to tell that my eyes were bigger than my stomach and that I was having a difficult time making a decision… So she offered to have them make me a little plate to try a few rings, on the house. I was so excited and thankful and it was so worth waiting a few minutes more. How often do places just offer you free food?!? DELICIOUS. I left super full and satisfied, and I will be back! The food was pretty great.

Great burger with great service! Don’t know what else one can ask for! Came here on a whim with some of my cousins while I was visiting Alaska. It was all of our first time at Tommy’s and I’m surely it won’t be our last. I ordered the weekly special, the Battered Husband. Which thanks to my exceptional eavesdropping skills is a pretty sought after burger that is only on the menu for a short amount of time. I had to get on that stat! The burger patty itself was beautifully seasoned, and on top of that they added fried cajun jalapeños, melty Swiss cheese, and an amazing aioli.(I’m all about that aioli). I also had a side of fries which were pretty good, but lacked a little crisp for my taste. I think I’ll stick to the onion rings next time which were great. Needless to say I was stuffed, so I got dessert to go(obviously). I ended up getting the carrot cake and Cajun delight to share at home. Both were delicious, not too sweet, but decadent enough to warrant a 5k… Or something. Also service was great, delightful, smiling faces all around. Anyways, this place was great! Gooooo!

Goooooodness! If you are looking for a seriously worthy calorie splurge… then a burger from Tommy’s is where you must go! We felt like we stumbled into a secret speakeasy club … it is super duper tiny inside — we got ours to go which required standing around making odd small talk for 15 minutes, but the burgers were totally worth it. The staff was really friendly and the patrons were all very happy with their burgers too. I’m still thinking about my bacon cheeseburger… a few extra gym trips and then I’ll splurge again!

We were able to find a table quickly, service was fairly quick. Among the best burger places in Anchorage, comparable to Arctic roadrunner. I had a cheeseburger with onion rings and hubby had a rle burger with fries. They were both delicious, hubby was really happy with the size and thought it was more flavorful than Arctic road runners.

As requested from this place on their wall, I will write a review. Ordered 2 burgers and fries. This was nearly 30 minutes ago!!! I’m now sitting out in the car still waiting. Listen… A regular restaurant doesn’t take that long to get food back to the table. A walk in «to-go» order(small at that) should not take more than 10 minutes to pump out. If there is going to be a long wait, the customer should be told upon ordering, «currently wait times are 30 min». I would have happily left. I sitting here still… No food yet? What the heck?!? Just noticed the people who order TWOORDERSAFTER U.S. get their food. Finally, had enough and asked what was going on to be told, «your order was pushed back cause it’s to go». WHAT!!! I would have eaten the damn meal here if I had known i’d be waiting for OVER30MINUTES for a damn burger!!! Get it together people! Hope this burger the best on the planet. Just got it!!! 32 minutes later!!! What a joke!

I thought this place was worth the fuss. The first time we went, we were told that it would be at least a half an hour wait to get our food, but the nice person taking our order said it would be worth the wait — a customer waiting quickly agreed. So we took a chance, and agreed it was worth the wait. We ended up making another trip later in the week, and the wait was closer to 15 minutes to get our food. The place is small, kind of divey looking. There is limited seating, with a cute patio outdoor eating area that seems hard to grab a seat in when the weather is nice. The menu selection of specialty burgers and Philly cheesesteaks, with a few salads thrown in and a few other picky-kid friendly options. There is also a weekly special that sometimes gets shared on Facebook. When we went the first time, I really thought looking at the place that I was going to need to do some serious blotting before I ate. But surprisingly the burger was that perfect balance of not too dry, nicely moist and not greasy. Same with the fries. The burgers and fries were described as being Cajun seasoned, and it was a nice flavor but not strong or spicy at all, as some Cajun spices restaurants use can be.(I don’t mind spicy personally, but this was good too.)

A lot of hype before I went to Tommy’s, so I assumed I’d be let down… not a chance, this place is awesome. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger Spenard style(egg on top). Everything was cooked right. Burger tasted like it was seasoned with salt and pepper and a hint of garlic powder. I asked for no tomato. I received no tomato. The bun was the perfect amount of bread for the patty, as was the cheese. The onion rings are easy to describe. Think about onion rings made the right way. That’s what their onion rings are. The only problem was that I couldn’t finish my burger, so maybe next time I’ll get a mini-stop.

I’m pretty new here to Anchorage and was just looking for a decent place to eat. Someone mentioned Tommy’s Burger Stop, and I thought I would give it a try. It’s always scary trying something new, but I’ll tell you Tommy’s Burger Stop is legit. It’s a little burger shop with good business flowing in and out, but they were able to get orders out as fast as the customers placed them. The Sweet Charlotte is a very well seasoned burger and comes with grilled mushroom, avocado, Swiss cheese, and mayo. All the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions are optional. It a very exceptional hamburger. Tommy’s Burger Stop is definitely worth the stop. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. I definitely know where I’m taking out of state visitors! Definitely worth the 5-out-of-5 stars!

Tommy’s has, hands-down, the best damn burger you’ll ever put in your mouth. Their French fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection… Their milkshakes are delicious. I’ve been to Tommy’s probably 40 times since I moved here and I have tried just about everything on their menu and I have yet to find something that was not good. Holy run on sentence, Batman. It’s so good, grammar rules don’t apply. But I digress… I walked in today and asked for a low carb option of their normal burger(no bun, extra veggies) to satisfy this crazy burger craving I’ve had since I started this dumb diet. The snappily dressed woman at the front counter told me that I could have it without the bun OR in salad form. I have found the holy grail of salads. I had the hot wing/Philly salad and it was so good, I would like to be buried alive in it so I can eat my way out. My first bite muffled the stream of expletives I couldn’t contain when my taste buds struck gold. It had a perfectly balanced flavor profile and was oh-so satisfying. If you have a hangover, go to Tommy’s. If you have a cold or allergies, go to Tommy’s and order something spicy. If you had a bad breakup, go to Tommy’s. If you just found out you’re gonna be a daddy and you’re not sure how to feel, go to Tommy’s. Tommy’s for president. Go there. Eat. Be happy.

This place is pretty fucking great. Delicious burgers, helpful staff and a décor that even if redolent in mostly popular art(robots, Star Wars, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley paraphernalia) — and therefore unlikely to elicit much love from anyone looking for highfalutin’ dining environs — is an honest expression of the owner’s loves and interests. It’s basically the punkest, most fun burger joint you’re likely to ever stop at. Be forewarned — the place is tiny. There are, I think, three tables indoors, so seating space is very limited. By the way, did I mention that the burger was pretty fucking great?

I love this place! My favorite burger is the special, «battered husband» Get a coffee milkshake on the side! Go here! It’s a must, don’t worry about the yard tables, they totally have charm in the short Alaskan summer.
