TE used to have decent food, but my order tonight was just awful. I had beef teriyaki and a fried Twinkie. The teriyaki looked and tasted like stew meat; it was cut in chunks instead of strips and was ridiculously tough. It was drowned in the sauce, and I immediately tasted MSG. Twenty minutes later I have a terrible MSG headache, so those with sensitivities beware. The Twinkie was sad. They had put whipped cream on it while hot at the restaurant, which means it melted and the Twinkie was swimming in sweet milk soup when I opened the container. They use regular tempura batter, so not only is it not sweet, it tastes odd too. I took one bite and threw it away. We used to order delivery from TE a lot, but that was their last chance with me. We won’t be back.

Super fast. Egg rolls were great. Chicken teriyaki looked and smelled awesome. But the veggie girlfriend wouldn’t allow me to have any! As usual.

3.5÷4 rating. We ordered the spicy pork bulgogi and tempura express combo. As the waitress serving my plate I was disappointed with the meat portion, but the taste and fresh ingredients kinda compensate for it. However, the tempura express had a lot more and was served bento style. I should have ordered the express as the portion was way bigger and it would cost just a dollar more — my point try the tempura express. I told my wife I had to taste her plate for the sake of providing an accurate Unilocal review. So the crunchy sushi was decent, tempura was better than expected(a piece of onion, potato, pot sticker), and surprising the sticky rice was perfectly made. This place was pricey for an informal lunch setting, but it is a good place to hit up once in a while. Let me also add that they could use extra help to run the dining area, asian lady was taking orders on/off the phone and serving meals. I thought a frisbee landed on my table.

Decent, nothing more. For the quality of the sushi, I would say if the price of each roll was $ 2 – 4 cheaper it would be worth it. Nevertheless, it is convenient sushi that you can have delivered to your house. Also, they are open 7 days a week so that is a plus. The yakisoba I got as well was mediocre. I would definitely suggest getting a better tasting one of the other Asian restaurants around town.

Wow! Ordered delivery sushi and it was absolutely fantastic! I am a sushi snob coming from Seattle, WA and having lived in Japan for 4 years. Reasonably priced, 3 rolls with full flavor, I have nothing to complain about. The sushi chef definitely knows what they are doing!!! Halibut roll, spicy tuna roll, and mountain view roll were all excellent.

Food is good;shrimp fried rice is my fav, love the crunch rolls, other sushi items are okay, shrimp tempura is yummy, plates are good too. I love that they keep the food warm for to-go orders(holds meat in foil) price is typical, people there are friendly and dining is nice too-okay for kids. However, I suggest having someone that speaks and understands English well on the phone-have had confusion a few times ordering here in which sometimes I end up coming in and getting food. Couple times coming in a lady got our order wrong and even asked me if I wanted to pay for my food when I just started eating. Although I know she didn’t mean no fuss, just is bothersome. I spend lots of money here but I take it else where when it’s just too much work to get a delivery order straight. Love the food tho!

I always get the Unagi Roll and take it out. And I appreciate the free bowl of miso soup. Never been disappointed. It’s a very nice little place.

I ordered the curry chicken to go and instead of curry chicken it was mostly curry fat. Gross!!! All of the«chicken» pieces were mostly fat like I was given all of the throw away pieces. I literally picked all of the pieces of «chicken/fat» out of the dish and just ate the rice with sauce. What was used for my curry chicken dish should have been thrown away… not given to a customer. I will not be going there again :-(

Horrible service. Went there with my kids to order the chicken teriyaki combo. We sat down and we’re not immediately help as the lady went and help those of «opposite» color. I also notice the rash attitude when I asked simple questions to her. When our food came I asked for extra plates for my children and she said rudely«over there on side». Horrible service and the chicken was not tasty I would have rather went to hula hands or Kansas for better Teri chicken. The sauce was too salty and chicken very dry. Would not recommend to anyone

I’ve driven by this place so many times not really taking notice of it because I assumed it was another little over priced gimmicky restaurant with no flavor but I was completely wrong, which makes me mad because I could’ve been eating there far longer than I have been. It’s a little on the spendy side for lunch but you won’t leave there feeling hungry. They are quick and efficient without sacrificing the flavor or quality the food.

What a shocker this place is. Heard a comment that was enough to peek my interest on Thursday and was blown away on Saturday when I had my first lunch. For the money? Amazing! I am bummed it’s not open on Sunday. Oh well, everybody needs a day off. The comment I heard was that the owner used to be the old superstar sushi chef at samarai up on Muldoon.

I like this place! I would really give them 3.5 stars but that’s not an option so 4 it is. My work orders from them a lot on Fridays. I have seriously never had anything bad from these folks. I love their mongolian beef, its sweet, the beef is tender, and its very tasty! I regularly order the teriyaki chicken which is great too! and they have a combo that’s called the Tempura Express Combo that has a crunch roll, chicken teriyaki, and shrimp tempura, salad, and some vegetable tempura, and one gyoza, that I love too. It’s a lot of food but I always get two meals out of it so its worth it. This past Friday I had the spicy shrimp and vegetables and was very pleasantly surprised. The shrimp was sweet and really good, and the spicy sauce was light, non greasy, and served over a bunch of chow mein type vegetables with rice. It was very healthy and good! They are just decent Chinese food at a good price. One thing I really like about them too is that in there«to go» orders they separate all the items by putting them in foil. So the rice is in the container, with like the spicy shrimp in a separate foil container next to it. So they don’t mix together until you mix them and they stay warm. When I got my meal Friday it was actually hot enough to burn my tongue still, even after delivery! The restaurant itself is clean, neat, bright, and full of light. It is not a huge place but has enough tables that you can sit and eat and enjoy your meal if you wish. I always get my stuff to go but it is busy most of the time when I go in there! We order from them a lot at work because its the one place that just about everyone in the building can find something they really like! It’s definitely one of the best Chinese places in town I think! Just an FYI, they don’t take checks! Not that anyone really does anymore but some folks might want to know that.

Went for lunch today. I had the Express Combo with Chicken Teriyaki, a crunchy roll, tempura, salad and some yaki. I can say I liked it, but it wasn’t something I’d really go out of my way for. It is a good step up from food court steam table express places, but not quite a sit down place. The crunchy roll was acceptable, but very reminiscent of the kinds of sushi you get at all you can eat places… short on any real fish and lots of filler and a shrimp. It wasn’t bad, just kind of flat. My chicken teriyaki was pretty good. The tempura I thought was fine, but the dipping sauce was fairly bland. I added some soy sauce to perk it up some. I sampled the Katsu Don. the sauce was good. The pork cutlet, however, to me(and my fellow diners) had a flavor I associate with frozen prepared foods. That kind of bland background flavor, and I found it distracting. I also sampled the beef bulgogi. It was okay too, not too much to write home about. With a fairly flooded Asian fusion market in Anchorage, I think their speed, location to base, and delivery will sustain them. But, if I am in the mood for a quality Asian food meal, I wouldn’t think here. If I happened to be up in Mountain View and wanted something fast and not typical fast food, I’d pop in here though.

This is my «go to» place for quick rolls. They have over 35 sushi rolls($ 7-$ 13) featuring both a combination of traditional types and their own creations. All the rolls I’ve tried have been delicious. The Tempura Express Combo($ 15) with teriyaki chicken, tempura shrimp and a crunch roll is a great value, but too big as one meal for the average person. It didn’t have a «wow factor» but enjoyable enough to share or take the leftovers home. I’m not sure why there are Fried Twinkies on the menu … haha They are always super friendly and hard working, and maintain a clean kitchen and eating area. The restaurant seats about 30 people and has one big table for 8 in the middle. The tables are rustic log style. I noticed delivery is available for orders over $ 25, but I haven’t tried it yet. Tempura Express is in a small strip center with Subway, and the driveway entrance is just north of McDonalds.

I was bored of the same old places, so I thought I’d give Tempura Express a try. I ordered California Roll — which was perfectly acceptable. And I also thought I ordered broccoli chicken. When I got home, it appeared to be broccoli beef — but it was very good.(I was too hungry to be picky). It’s a small place but appeared to be very clean. It was somewhat late in the day on a Sunday and not at all busy. I would go back. There are not too many GOOD Asian restaurants in Anchorage. P. S. — a handwritten sign said they also had deep-fried Twinkies and Oreos! hah

The service and food were very good. We ordered the California rolls and tempura vegetables, which ended up being a great appetizer. The atmosphere is friendly and clean.

The food was ok and for the price not bad at all. I was a little disappointed in the Kung Pao chicken because it was breaded but the sauce was nice and spicy. Portions are huge! A great bargain restaurant.
