This studio is great, I have purchased a number of pieces of art(mostly wall art). There is such a great variety of mediums in this shop from metal, to glass, to water colors to oils, textiles etc. I would recommend you stop in next time your downtown.

This little gallery is chock full of incredible local art. I was immediately enamored with the colorful canvases and stunning photographs that adorn the walls of this shop. There is literally something on every surface in here so it took me some time to scan the walls from top to bottom. The store goes pretty far back and has a corner nook that I would guess some people don’t make it all the way back there to see. Luckily I did! I picked out a neat little aurora painting by a local gal and almost brought home other large pieces(too bad I was restrained by the size of my suitcase!) This place is a total gem on a street with otherwise touristy t-shirt, shot glass, and souvenir type stores. If you want something local and unique this place is ideal.

I ordered, and paid for, a custom sweatshirt which I never received. After months of persistence I was eventually offered a different sweatshirt at full price. Even when dealing with the manager, Bill, customer service was terrible. Offering to refund a purchase months afterword, or provide a totally different sweatshirt at FULL price isn’t a move that keeps customers coming back. Refunding a consumer for a good that was never received isn’t doing me a favor. You are legally obligated to do that. A small discount would have been appropriate, but even more desired would have been sincere apologies and an effort to accommodate. What would have happened if I hadn’t hounded the Sevingy studio for months? I’d still be out a sweatshirt and they’d be up $ 55 bucks. Don’t bother stopping by, its not worth the hassle.

How have I not reviewed Sevigny? This is definitely of one of my top 5 favorite things in Anchorage. Tourists, if you’re looking for a unique, handmade Alaskan gift, this place should be your first stop. I’m pretty sure 100% of their items are made in Alaska, by local Alaskan artists, artisans and crafters. Admittedly they don’t have Native Alaskan Crafts, but they are very heavy on Alaskan themed art. Items range from under 10 dollars to several thousand and there’s nothing pretentious about this gallery. It’s all acessible and gorgeous. Items run the gamut: stationary, jewelry, glass, sculpture, paintings, textiles, home décor, photography, clothing, beauty products… so many things I can’t name them all. Alaskan themes are abundant, birch, halibit, salmon, Denali, Anchorage, snow, mountains, moose, ect. If you wanna buy me something I’ll love, start here. It’s a shame it’s so far down 4th Avenue next to the dusty old abandoned 4th Ave Theater, because a lot of people miss this place because of its location. Seek it out, you won’t regret it.

Favorite gallery in town. A must-visit in downtown Anchorage. It’s more of a Boho style gift shop with some cool art pieces at reasonable prices. I wish they would mix up the styles a little more often of art & handicrafts they offer. However, the works by V. Rae are incredible, and it’s the first piece of art we splurged on! First Fridays they bring in live music and a little food. A fun time to visit while it’s hoppin’.

I came here to buy gifts for my friends when I was visiting Alaska, and this place is definitely a better bet than most shops in downtown Anchorage when it comes to finding unique gifts. There’s a lot of really pretty and creative pottery, and a lot of prints and original paintings. I think their selection changes pretty often– I came here at the beginning and end of my two week trip and the store looked completely different. It was pretty hard to find gifts that were in my price range– I ended up buying a mug and a bowl which weren’t too expensive. I also bought a t shirt– they have a huge selection of men’s and women’s shirts which are locally designed and pretty cute. I would recommend coming here if you want a unique Alaska made gift to bring home– it just might take a few minutes to find something that isn’t too absurdly expensive.

I love Katie’s shop! She sells her own art as well as other Alaskans’ art! This is one of my favorite places to find gifts for friends and family. Katie designs t-shirts too! I love the little skier girl and the fat tire bike. She’s a talented women. I always enjoy talking to her and she gives great suggestions for gifts. I always get great service and they have a consistent assortment of high quality goods.

Liked this retail store featuring unique jewelry, clothing, bags, handmade artisan merchandise. Interesting and unique shopping. There was a guitar player playing on the mezzanine who added a nice touch to the atmosphere.

The most unfriendly experience I’ve had in Anchorage. Monday afternoon, one of two people in the store. No hello, no ‘thank you’ for purchase, no goodbye. I wonder how much money you have to spend to get customer service? Miss thing with the dated gold hoop in her nose almost got a reason for a nose job. With dozens of «art» galleries in town, this one is certainly one to skip.

This is a nice gallery crammed full of the owner’s art and other featured artists. I came here for First Friday to support my friend Nathan Perry’s art showing. I guess the featured artist gets the wall in the back, but it seemeed really out of the way. I guess maybe because there is room there for food and a table. There was a guy that played guitar in the corner, which I thought was a nice touch. Lots of handmade jewelry and crafts. Would have liked to see more cards for purchase, since that’s about all the art I can afford. It was a nice time, though just a bit too cramped for my taste.

Yesterday was the ‘first Friday’ event where all the galleries are open late, with snackage, and a stellar ambiance. Sevigny REALLY stood out, as they featured a quartet of flutists(sp?) providing some lovely music to enjoy. Kate Sevigny is a magical artist… her works focus on nature and in a new, whimsical way that brings a smile to your face. It’s not enough to buy a postcard of her work though… with her huge original oil paintings staring at you, you feel like you almost have the space in your tiny apartment to feature it. This is my favorite gallery in Anchorage! She also has a lot of cool jewelry, handknit headbands, painted scarves and objects d’arte.

I love this gallery in the heart of downtown. It has a wonderful, young, hip, not-at-all stuffy atmosphere. There’s such an interesting assortment of artwork to admire from lots of different artists, including the owner of the gallery, Kate Sevigny. And there’s an Alaskan flavor to everything without it being to cheesily Alaskan, if you know what I mean. Walk around the corner to its sister store, the Fiddlehead Gallery — it’s a good one too! Not only is the artwork interesting but the reasonable prices make these galleries the perfect place to buy a gift or treat yourself to something special.
