A friend and I used Go Purple for two rides during our recent trip to Alaska. We were finishing up a tour and wanted to spend a few extra nights before returning home. We got our first sign of trouble when we called the morning of our scheduled reservation to make our pick up time one hour later. When we called, they claimed that they were actually going to call me to see if we could make our pick-up time earlier in the day because they were having scheduling difficulties. We could not get an immediate answer if our newly requested pick-up time(or even original for that matter) could be honored and were told to call back in a few hours. Being in remote Alaska where cell phone reception is not always dependable, this was not comforting to hear. A few hours later we were able to reconnect and confirm our shuttle at the correct time we needed. We were greeted by a very chatty driver who gave the occasional interesting piece of information, but for the most part her commentary was not interesting and she could not take the hint to stop talking. Thankfully the drive was only an hour and a half. For our return trip, the driver did call in the morning to confirm the pick up at the request time. We were picked up by a new driver who was also very chatty with equally as boring commentary. However, he did get the hint that we were not interrested and we were able to get a solid hour of peaceful drive. However, things became very awkward pretty quickly. He didn’t know where he was driving us to(the airport). About 10 minutes into the drive, the driver notified us that he just received a last minute call from a loyal client who needed to be picked up. For some unknown reason, the driver needed to swap vehicles for his new client. Which was kept at his house. He asked me and my friend what time our flight was and said his house was on the way to the airport. We had plenty of time– would we mind stopping by his house and switching vehicles before he dropped us off at the airport? Incredibly uncomfortable. We were able to politely say no and get dropped off a the airport. But in all of my years hiring a shuttle service, I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Go Purple got us from point A to point B, but it was an uncomfortable journey. The drivers are awkward, at times unprofessional. The vans/cars are old and beat up. Duct tape is a common site in these vehicles. Passenger beware.

My husband and I flew into Anchorage and Gary was waiting outside for us right on time. He took us to our hotel to check in and then took us to down Turnagain Arm to the Wildlife Conservation and then down to the Portage Glacier. We were fascinated by all of the Alaska facts he had for us. We very much enjoyed the tour with Gary and appreciate that he was a fountain of knowledge on both his state and the best places to see in Alaska. Thank you very much Go Purple! We will be back and will definitely use your service again!
