Hands down, no questions asked, and I live in Portland(beer capital of the world)…this place had the best beer I have ever tasted. I cant really explain it, but it was absolutely phenomenal… period!

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here sipping on delicious brew and hanging around the huge barrel vats. I liked all the natural light coming in and everything seemed orderly and clean. If I’m ever craving a good brewery experience in Anchorage, this’ll be one of my first stops.

So glad we found this place(although it was a little hard to find, don’t trust Google Maps on this one). The beer was some of the best I’ve ever had, the brewery is beautiful, the bartender was also a brewmaster and answered all of our questions and let us try samples. Go here, you won’t regret it.

Write down the address for your GPS because the road construction nearby might throw you off course, if you’re not precise. But it is completely worth the hassle to find Anchorage Brewing Company. They are making unique beers and taking risks few commercial breweries do. I’m a home brewer who averages two all grain batches per month(since 2010) and have only brewed with brettanomyces once. That’s because very few styles use this rare strand of Belgian yeast. Nevertheless, Anchorage Brewing Company has almost ten beers which are brewed with brettanomyces, making extremely potent, slightly sour Belgian style beers. This is really remarkable. During my visit I had three glasses: the Galaxy White IPA, the Bitter Monk Belgian IPA, and the Love Buzz Saison. All of these were wonderful beers. So if you are a beer geek – this is a brewery to add to your list of «must visit.» I’d give Anchorage Brewing Company a five star over and over based on their creativity and quality brewing.

Wow sour beers in Anchorage Alaska!!! I am happy I live here! I recommend coming in and trying something new and then maybe picking up a bottle or two. The staff is great and the building is beautiful. I am so happy and excited for them to be open. I cant wait to come back in again.

Good beer, great new location, extensive use of barrels and collaborations galore. Definitely had to say the Saisons that are crafted here will satisfy new crafter drinkers and seasoned alike. Refreshing to have a sour on draft.

If you think you’re lost, you probably made it! What an amazing space and really funky beer. If you love sours, this place is for you. When we were in, they had some collaboration brews on tap. They worked with Jolly Pumpkin(from Michigan) and the two beers we tried were exceptional. The wait staff was also great, answering questions and giving samples.

The tasting room is fantastic. Gorgeous wood planks on the walls, and the tasting room is wide open to the working portion of the brewery, which the staff encourages you to explore. The beers definitely tend toward Belgian Style, with a number of Saisons on the beer list. I personally don’t care for Belgian style beers, but I know many who do. The prices are high, even by Alaska standards. But all in all, if for no other reason than the tasting room, this place is worth the visit.

It has taken me too long to get here, and I’m so glad I finally did. Pulling into the crowded parking lot, I thought oh boy, this is going to be a madhouse inside. The thing with breweries though, is that die hard beer fans are quintessentially«chill». There’s no pushing or shoving, cross words spoken — it’s just laid-back and patient. The line was practically backed up to the door but I had a beer in hand within 7 minutes. It was so worth the wait — I LOVE ABCo BEER and I love the glasses they serve the beer in. I have since been back so many times the bartender sort of gives me that knowing smile. There is plenty on tap to satisfy anyone’s pallete. Case in point, I adore saisons and ipa’s and my boyfriend darks(porter, stout, sours) and we have never been left wanting. I don’t pretend to know my beer lingo all that well, but I feel like their beer exhibits such a pure expression of its given style. I love the fact that they age some beer in wine and whiskey barrels. The expiration IPA, triple IPA, farmhouse, arctic, and love buzz saisons and improv sour ale are among my favorites. From an interior design standpoint, this brewery is gorgeous. I love the lightly ribbed metal exterior punctuated by the bright chartreuse colored doors. Inside, the brewery has tastefully melded cool and warm components with the use of a concrete type composite bar counter, sit/stand wooden tables, polished concrete floors and re-purposed wood plank walls. The canvas and metal artwork adds the finishing touches. Be sure to note the skull behind the cash register. The brewery also allows you to bring in food to help wash down that beer, which is extremely helpful after a hike. Salud!

The wood added warmth to the interior of the Tap room, and the tap room staff were friendly and knowledgable. That being said Why is it not possible to fill 32oz Growlers? Pretty common practice in breweries today. It was also a disappointment that there is no listing of the size of the beer pour. Prices are listed, however some beers are served as smaller pours and unless you ask you won’t know. No flights? Huh??? And no King St. here. If you want Pretzels or any«snacks» better bring your own. Overall an average Brewery.

OMG I love this place! When you first drive up it seems like a very weird industrial part of town but then BAM it beckons you to want to come inside it’s new, hip, looking industrial building with it’s sleek metal walls and its fancy slanted roof… Once inside you’re blown away by the quality in details, which not only shows in their new space with the open concept floor plan, vintage wood walls, outside patio, huge windows to let in natural light, but most importantly it also shows through in their beers! They are all good, even the IPA and I’m not an IPA fan. I’m a huge fan of dark beers and sour beers and when you combine those two you get one extremely happy Meghan!

This place is awesome! Some friends and I went this weekend and were pleasantly surprised. Very laid back, great beer, and they let you walk through the brewery. Loved it! Now if only they would serve bar food, it’d be perfect!

Very cool décor and nice atmosphere. Kinda pricey when you’re just looking for a good beer after work, but worth it for a date or showing to a new enthusiast. A lot of sour beers because most are brewed with Brett yeast but if you’re a Belgium fan this is the place to be! They do not have samplers so you can only try a few beers, the rest are sold in bottles either for in house or for on the go. All in all its a must see for all connoisseur of delicious beers made in ak

First: some backstory. When I first moved to Anchorage a beer geek friend of mine insisted I get something from Anchorage Brewing. I remember briefly going to the website, seeing that most of the beers had a Belgian/“wild” spin on them, and then losing interest. I was sure the beer was good, but I wasn’t really into«those» types of beers. Then, I found myself at Humpy’s with my dear younger brother. We like IPA’s. The bartender suggested we try«White Buffalo*». We did. We loved it. We were hooked. And, it turns out, it was brewed by Anchorage Brewing Company(referred to from here on out as «ABC»). I became a huge fan. At dinner, when the waiter would ask the inevitable«anything else to drink besides water?», I was the annoying guy that would say«Do you have anything from Anchorage Brewing?» Sadly, many times they wouldn’t, and I would stay stone cold sober out of protest. The things I do for good beer.(to their credit, Sacks actually started carrying it after I mentioned this in my review!) Anyway, I eagerly followed… ok, ok…“stalked” them on facebook. When I caught wind that ABC would be opening its very own taproom(the beer was previously brewed at Snow Goose) I was beyond excited! Their FB page was my only source of information. And now, at long last, they are open! From the outside, it’s a very very unassuming warehouse. You might thing you’re on your way to buy a new combine or tractor rather than drink a couple pints. The parking lot is unfinished.(I almost got stuck in the mud, but there were a team of friendly beer drinkers waiting to help me!) Once you get inside though: AWESOME. The interior is HUGE. The taproom is relatively modest in size, but you are free to wander about the brewery and marvel at the gorgeous mix of stainless steel and wood. Pyschedelic metallic goat art adorns the walls(really!) There is a small selection of beers on tap, and a large selection of beers in the bottle to drink on site. They also have a selection of bottles for offsite consumption.(they also sell growlers, of course) Everyone on staff was incredibly nice to me, even though I probably looked like an annoying tourist pointing my gigantic camera every which way. I’m pretty sure I saw the owner/brewer as well! I will definitely be back, if I lived in the area, I’d probably be here every dang day. (My only complaint… I cannot deduct a star for, but it needs to be mentioned. They close at 8pm, like every other brewery in Anchorage(except Glacier?!) because of the bizarre laws about breweries in this town. Anyone want to help me get them changed?) *I’m still not 100% sure that was the official name? I think it’s only a seasonal beer from ABC, I eagerly await its return!

There is a reason Anchorage Brewing Company has such high ratings on their beer. Quality comes first! The same can be said about the brewery. While the outside may be deceiving, located in south Anchorages warehouse area, the inside is by far the nicest of Anchorages breweries. Wood finishes make Anchorage Brewing a site to see and complement the wood barrels used to brew. The staff is friendly and willing to talk beer if they are not too busy. No food as of this post but food trucks are sure to fill the vast parking area soon. If you are visiting Anchorage this is a must see and taste! Sit and have one of the great brews that many craft beer lovers seek out nation wide!
