This is definitely a gem not to pass up. Not many tourist know of this beach as it’s not easy to find.

This is the beach where both the pilot and season 1 episode 1 for Gilligan’s island were filmed. These are the only episodes actually filmed on an island. If you watch the opening on Youtube you will recognize the bay — only now there are many houses. This is one of the most beautiful photo opportunity beaches on Kauai in my opinion. From what I have read it is best in the summer months on days where it is not too windy. Parking is very limited and may be an issue on weekends, but the beach was quiet during the week when we were there.

We were looking for places off the beaten path and I’ve never been so happy! Pure paradise! Don’t listen to the bad reviews because I don’t even think they were at this beach… Best beach on kauai and never wanted to leave! There’s a nice little stream/lagoon for kids to play in. A bit wavy but easy swimming! Very short walk to the beach. Can’t say enough about how beautiful it is…,

For the second half of our Great Hawaiian Adventure we stayed a short walk away from Moloaa Bay. Whenever we met locals and told them where we were going to stay, they were always impressed and said how good the beach was! Unfortunately, the rip currents were too bad during our stay for us to get in the water and not float away so I’m giving the beach 4 stars instead of 5. If you go in the spring/summer, I’m sure it will be different! We were expecting the poor conditions and it didn’t bother us, it just would have been nice to have gotten in the water. But the beach is so gorgeous, quiet, and clean. Be prepared to not want to leave!

Staying here for Christmas Break. Amazing for snorkeling, beautiful blue water, clean sand, often times sunny. A bit windy at night. Amazing reef to explore while snorkeling on the right side of the horseshoe looking out to the ocean. Coconuts and shells are plentiful on the beach, I have found some amazing things to bring back to my boyfriend.

This is where Gilligan’s Island was filmed! Great quiet beach! A dozen or so locals were here on the weekday. Guess we know about it because my daughter is a local! Being visiting tourists, I would say it is very important to be respectful of the locals and any of the signs they post. They want their privacy! And they deserve to have it! Glad that we were able to find the spot to park…(all they way down the«alley street») and enter where they ask visitors to enter. The waves were just okay that day for boogie boarding, there were a lot of people snorkeling at the south side.

We stayed at a house in Moloaa Bay so we were close enough to check it out daily. The first day we were here the waters were very blue and clear. There are a few spots to snorkel one being on the right and a good walk over to where the rocks start. The other is on the left and a good walk to the other rocks(and wade through the small river if it hasn’t been raining). The one down side to this bay is that if it has been raining heavily(even in the mountains nearby) it is very silty and dirty. Some other reviews say it is gross however that hasn’t been the case for our time here in June. Not really a snorkeling beach as locals do fish here where you could snorkel. There is a lovely little hike on the left side that takes you around for great ocean views.

= GILLIGAN’s ISLAND = Do you remember the good old days when you sat in front of the TV watching Gilligan’s Island? Well, I do… And you bet I saw excited when I found MOLOAABAY and realized this was one of the film location for Gilligan’s Island. I had my doubts after reading Melody K.‘s review, but was glad that I still made my way to this location. MOLOAABAY is very secluded because it is far from the main road, and hidden in residential area. There’s no public parking available, but some locals were nice enough to let me park in front of their yard when I told them I was just going to take a peak at the beach. Words cannot explain how beautiful this beach was. You have to come see for yourself. THEMOSTBEAUTIFULBEACHINKAUAI — Well, at least that’s what I think :)

At one time, I am sure this was a beautiful beach but we have been here once and my girls have walked down here a couple of times and each time we have the same response… Gross! There is garbage, pieces of plastic and who knows what else all over this beach. It is really to bad. I have never seen a beach in such bad shape. Do yourself a favor and just go to another beach…

This morning I decided to drive along the coast of the island and explore. I am still on East Coast Time so I am wide awake. After taking several wrong turns and getting lost I have found one of the doorways to heaven. The beach here at the bay is a wonder in light, sound and beauty. The sun is rising and the colors are that of a Norman Rockwell painting. This was the location for the opening scene of Gullian’s Island… remembering those days in front of the TV. I offer this small bit of advice… come, sit, listen and think(with or without a laptop) but do this and remember why God created the world.
