The quick review: Great burgers, but hella expensive. Went to Umami to pick up some lunch the other day and was super excited as I have heard many good things about it. I went with the«Throwback» and an Allagash White to drink. The burger was perfectly cooked and tasted just different enough that I would not be able to compare it to anything I’ve tasted before. The burger was $ 11.50 and is probably the cheapest burger that you can order. The Allagash White was great. Had a nice pour and a nice hint of citrus in it. Worth a try if you like craft burgers and have some extra change to spare.

This is always on point with the food and service. My favorite is the truffle burger. The only wierd thing was a drunk guy who fell out of his booth. Looks like his table was overserved on booze.

This place is in my option the best burger place in the area. They Ground all their stakes in house. The customer service is always been impeccable. It’s clean, they have AC which is extremely important in the summer! And they take the time to explain the umami concept to new customers! James the manager was actually the one who took our order today. He was extremely patient and explain the whole menu to my mother who had never been here before. I got the manly burger but I love the ahi burger as well! The truffle fries are a must!

The vibes here are awesome ! It’s very quiet and wasn’t crowded even though I went on a Saturday afternoon. The food definitely has an acquired taste, don’t come here expecting classic American burgers . Major con is the parking. There Re only 5 parking spaces(which were all filled and I assume it was employee parking) and everyone is look for parking from the little place next door. But overall I enjoyed it. Very sweet waiters a quick service. Not expensive

I wish I could give this place 10 stars! Not only was the food amazing but the service was wonderful also. The burgers and drinks were so delicious! I highly recommend the old fashioned. Not a lot of bars know how to make a good one but this place had it down to a T. And the fact that this place can hold it’s own being so close the the packing district says it all! In love love love!

One of my favorites! Definitely! I love the truffle fries, though they can be a bit much. They’re one of my all time favorites and incomparable, all the other truffle fries I’ve tried didn’t have very much of a truffle taste. You HAVE to get it! I got the manly burger with an egg(+$ 1) and its was ok, it was salty but at the same time so good! The egg was balanced out the salty. The combination of both was a knockout though, I have to come back. The service was great too! Its shares a parking lot with the packing district, it was hard to find parking even at 10!

I LOVEUMAMI burger !! I would be in heaven if we had one in Fresno ! I love that each location has its own décor style. This specific location is my new favorite, love everything about it. Our waiter was great along with everyone else working. The bar is great, very open! I have never been disappointed with a burger here and it’s a must every time we visit LA. PS the truffle fries are to die for, no one else’s compare.

De-lish-ous!!! I ordered the classic umami burger medium well and it was amazingly good! You’re getting steak styled beef, which you’d normally pay big bucks for, here the average burger is about $ 14! It fills you up and leaves you satisfied. I also ordered the truffle fries which were the perfect addition. Personally, I am a huge advocate for condiments, and umami’s did not disappoint! Jalapeño ranch is my all time fav!

I really enjoyed this place. Coming here for the first time with my siblings, we wanted to try everything so my sister got the Sunny Side burger $ 13, my brother ordered the Truffle burger($ 12), and for me, the Umami burger($ 11.5). We also got a full order of sweet potato fries($ 5) and a side of truffle fries($ 5.5). All the burgers were delicious. They were cooked to a perfect medium rare/medium and the meat was so juicy. I was able to differentiate the different flavors of each burger, but the end of the meal I couldn’t tell anymore lol. My favorite part was the fries. I loved the sweet potato fries. I kept eating them and I had to stop to finish my burger before I got full. I would come again just for those sweet potato fries. The waiters were so nice and friendly. They came around every couple of minutes making sure we were happy and satisfied with the meal. We sat outside and despite the 90 degree weather, it was so cool and the atmosphere was very relaxing and casual. I was surprised that there weren’t many people there despite the hype that goes on with this chain. I will definitely come here again for those delicious sweet potato fries!

I’ve had Umami a few times and always walk out pretty happy but the last time, I was a bit bummed with my burger. I’ve introduced this place to my aunt who is from Korea and every time she comes to visit, she wants to come here. Which I think says a lot for an American joint. I always get the truffle fries and the Umami burger. I love the dipping options they provide you with the truffle fries, they are all great! The burger is usually on point, but my last visit, I didn’t enjoy how soggy the bottom bun got. The boyfriend thought it was alright, enjoyable but not his go to place for an expensive burger(which make’s sense, I’m always down for In N’ Out). The customer service is great. We had a few servers come by and make sure our drinks were topped off or asked us if we wanted another alcoholic beverage. We were able to have a few laughs with our servers as well. Each of them adding a different type of conversation to ours. 3 Stars since this place is always a hit and miss in regards to their food.

This was my first time having Umami burger and it won’t be my last. I ordered the following; — Truffle fries(happy hour). — Truffle burger(well done). Girlfriend ordered the following; –Truffle burger(medium-well). The truffle burger I ordered came out hot and extremely tasty. The only thing that didn’t impress me were the truffle fries. The truffle fries got old after several bites. The cheese on the truffle fries was a tad bit overpowering. Our waiters name was Jason. He was observant, friendly, and attentive. All in all, I was impressed and will definitely give this place my business.

It think the menu changes by location. I remember having a spicy chicken sandwich in one of the LA spots that was really good. Ate a burger in the Anaheim joint and it was good too. I liked how picture perfect the burger came. I can’t remember the name, but it had chiles on it. The fries were really good too. Not greasy and they tasted freshly made.

Service: initially it seemed it would be great. But then we were seated and ignored long enough for us to read the entire menu, decide what we want and ponder the idea of leaving. Finally someone came by and took our order and we waited a while for our drinks. Getting them refilled in a timely manner was not happening. And we rarely ever saw our wait person. It took a long time for the food to come out and when it did… The Food: we shared truffle fries which had we been here during happy hour would have been very good at $ 3. $ 6 was just a smidge high for what we got. The Manly burger fell apart in the misters hands and he had to resort to eating it with his fork. Word to the hungry, these burgers are a small step up from a slider and he was not very pleased that his was $ 15. Mine was more reasonable at about $ 11.50. but still quite stark. $ 3 sodas. fountain sodas. you know how much they pay for that?! $ 47 dollars later and we are both still hungry.

Tried the limited time«Alton Burger»! That thing was jamming! Really recommended! I also had my goto Hatch burger(don’t judge me) which is awesome always. And I got a mixed drink(I can’t remember the name but it was good… much better than the half-asses cocktails they serve around the corner at ecco bar.) Love this old historic building that Umami is in, is a great atmosphere. And it is next to Anaheim Brewery so you can always go grab drinks there as well afterwards, or just walk over to the Packing District and meander as well. Great spot, been here a couple times.

Great food experience with awesome service! Any restaurant with a great server always makes any dining experience so much better. I forgot his name, but the guy who served us was really helpful in letting my friends and I sample beers and checking in on us. I tried a mixture of their stout and cider, which was an amazing combo. I wish I remembered the name of it… but it wasn’t Guinness! My friends and I all got the same burger: the featured breakfast burger, the Alton Burger. We substituted the coffee ketchup for the chipotle aioli sauce and it tasted amazing! One of the best burgers I’ve had. The Parmesan fries during happy hour was so cheap, we had two! Overall, a satisfactory visit. I would definitely come back to this location! This area is a lot more spacious and nicer than the Costa Mesa one.

Great service, horrible parking! [SERVICE] I came here for dinner on a weekday so it wasn’t too packed! The server took our drink order and came to take our food order. She checked up on us regularly and made sure our drinks were always refilled. 5⁄5 for great service! [FOOD] I ordered the Manly Burger(medium well) and an order of the truffle fries. The truffle fries come with a side of 3 housemade sauces: garlic aioli, jalapeño ranch, and diablo. My favorite was the jalapeño ranch! I love the thin-cut fries, but the truffle was a little too over-powering for me. The Manly Burger was cooked to my liking and was super juicy; definitely a burger I recommend! 4⁄5 for food! [CONS] — This place is on the expensive side for a burger place, but it’s a well-known burger place so it’s something to keep in mind. — Lighting is also a bit too dim for my taste for dinner. — Because this is in the same area as the Anaheim Packing District, parking is incredibly limited! Good luck trying to find parking.

This place is big so there’s no long line. The food is as awesome as ever. Drinks are moderately strong. Services is quite slow for such a crowded place. It’s good for general dinning with friends.

Came here because it was open late at night and I have yet to try Umami’s Burgers even though I’ve heard so much hype about it. I’ve tried the truffle fries before at a different location and they were pretty good. I ordered Cali Burger with a Parmesan Frico and it was actually pretty good! I’ve been to many Burger joints and haven’t found many of them to be memorable or outstanding but Umami really does know what they are doing. Our server, I wish I remembered his name(he had a mustache), but he was very attentive and brought me out a new drink whenever he saw I was low. Only thing I didn’t like were the sauces especially the ketchup and the garlic aoili. I wish they had regular ketchup because their housemade one had a strange taste to it.

I always hear people complain that the burgers are overpriced and that they’re too small but I beg to differ. The burgers are the perfect size and the price is justified with its premium flavors. Parking is now horrid because of the Anaheim Packing District crowd. Due to this, it took us 15 minutes to maneuver our way out of the lot to and find spot down the block. This lead us to scrapping our original plans of making it to happy hour. We were 2 minutes late damnit! Once seated, we had Jason J as our server. Wasn’t sure if it was his first day or not but you can sense he was a bit nervous but still hit all the points(warm greeting, menu introduction, specials, etc.). We ended ordering the Throwback and Manly Burger, both to be cooked medium rare. The Manly Burger was packed of all the flavors that I remembered but unfortunately, the burgers were overcooked. Like the Manly Burger, my GF’s Throwback Burger patties was overcooked as well but only more so. This thing was unmistakably well-done. As usual, I would finish my meal and move on to work on my gf’s meal. This time around, I couldn’t get in three bites out of her burger before I simply gave up. The overcooked patties were simply unappetizing and dried my mouth out immediately after the first bite. It didn’t help that this came with not one, but two overcooked patties. No amount of miso mustard or ketchup could have save this burger. The truffle fries were also a let down by cause of execution. Once we got to the bottom of the stack, we noticed that 60% of the truffle cheese has hardened at the bottom. Luckily for us, we were able to put the overcooked patties and upside down truffle fries in the back of our mind by virtue of Jason’s excellent service. Once comfortable, Jason was a pleasure to be around as he routinely checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and that our libations were never empty. Regretfully, our recent visit to Umami burger was a misstep that almost had me agreeing with the naysayers. While the Manly Burger was only decent by reason of a slightly overcooked patty, the Throwback Burger tasted what I imagined a cardboard burger would. A McDouble would’ve saved me a coupe bucks and still taste better. Thankfully, our server more than saved the evening with his proactive attentiveness and warm demeanor.

Major downgrade. I am bummed. The first time we went here the food and service was excellent. I was so thrilled. We went to an Irvine location with friends months later and the service was horrible. I was glad that my Anaheim experience was the opposite. Fast forward a year and a half later, and that day seems like a long lost dream. Half the menu items have disappeared. Items went up in cost.(Is this even possible with the prices of a small stand alone burger that they had before?) Yep, here it is possible. I got to «enjoy» an experience with a crabby husband due to items being missing, especially his beloved smushed(sp?) potatoes. We had to order our green tea and lemonade three times before the waiter remembered and then still put them down next to the wrong person. That is no biggie, but you would think the drinks would be right by now. Crabby husband got even more pleasant when he asked for well done and the server warned him that there would be pink in the middle and asked if that was okay.(HUH???) I got my beloved Greenbird again. Still tasty, but not like I remembered. He said his Hatch burger was okay. We just split some thin fries at the $ 4 cost. We got our special sauces that you always get, but they were not explained. I knew two of the four, and when the server explained them to the next table I figured out another. We figured out the last one on Unilocal. The couple nearby was asking about combos. I guess they were new here and did not know that there are no combos, even with an average $ 12 price for a small burger. When the server asked if we wanted refills, he asked if it was for a water and a green tea.(Seriously smacking my head at this point). I had a serious stomach ache for a bit after we left. Luckily it was short. I can’t say it was them but the timing was impeccable. I don’t see myself coming back to visit much anymore, unless someone is dying to go and wants me to join and I happen to have a wad of cash that I want to blow on very little here. I will miss that Greenbird. We noticed the service jars where you drop your chips in based on your thoughts of the visit have disappeared. I cannot imagine why.
