First time here today and honestly wasn’t impressed! Super bland no flavor burgers. Tasted like nasty cafeteria food, I started getting grossed out midway through my burger! Not to mention my husband got super sick from their chili burger! Never again!

This is the first time that we have been to this restaurant. Usually when we come out of Soarin’ Over California, it always smells so good. But we’ve usually already eaten, so we’ve had no reason to stop at this place. We were back in Cars Land, when we decided that we were hungry and our girls wanted to ride Soarin’ Over California. I suggested that we eat here for lunch. This restaurant is big, both inside and with the seating outdoors. It was a nice day, so I told my girls to go find a table, while myself and their dad wait in line to order. When we walked in, there was an employee directing customers which line to get into. At first, we were discouraged with how long the lines were, but don’t let that stop you. The lines, for ordering and picking up the food, moved fairly quickly. We ordered three adult sized chicken nuggets and fries meal, one bacon cheeseburger, one kids mac n cheese meal with an extra side of fries and five drinks. They do accept annual passholder discount, so the meal was right under $ 60. Sounds like a lot of money, but for a family of five, that is on the lower end for a meal with a drink. The food wasn’t amazing, by any means… but it wasn’t terrible either. It’s your basic American food that is served at an amusement park. It hit the spot for lunch and if we’re in that area again and looking for lunch, I would come back here. It’s nice, they have all of the condiments for every dish at a salad like bar to the side of the lines… so you can have as little or as much(ranch) as you’d like. The employees are nice and they keep the dining area, tables and trash cans cleaned up. Plus, you can get right onto Soarin’ right after your meal.

If Smokejumper’s Grill were anywhere other than the California Adventure proper, you would scoff and laugh at the notion of eating there. It’s not that the food is bad; on the contrary, they make a pretty good burger, have a generous amount of fries per serving, and like Fuddruckers, the veggies and condiments are help yourself/all you can eat. I suppose it’s the pricing model that makes this place a little giggly. When you’re at Disneyland, you don’t really think about it… You just hand over your money, representing a 30 to 50% markup on just about any other place you would buy similar foods. But as my dad says, «we’re not here for a haircut!» … And you got to eat. Besides, as Disney prices go, this place is a pretty good value. Sometimes Smokejumper’s is a ghost town, other times the line heading out the door is ridiculous. Somehow, there always seems to be a table or two free on the large patio, and if you insist on sitting inside, you either get lucky right away or won’t wait too long. The staff has read the Disney manual on positive attitude and Disney synergy, so their perpetual smiles and invisible shields that they wear to any customer rudeness, attitude, anger, or angst keep this place the happiest… Restaurant… On earth. With a litter of kids in tow on most trips to California Adventure, this is a good choice. Its burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, family style fries, and damn-near fearless sparrows waiting for you to drop any small portion of those food items make this place fun for all. Pro-tip: make yourself a «free» side salad with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, bbq sauce, and dressings from the condiment bars! Fill up, kids… We’re not buying Churros until after the last parade.

Mehhh ehhhhh can’t expect too much right? It’s your normal amusement park meal burger and fries with a drink and you pay too much for what you really get. This was a new spot so I turned down Boudin’s Bakery to try it out. It has a small menu with the basics… burgers, fries, they have a vegetarian burger option, and they have one salad. I took a look at the salad and the chicken that topped it looked pretty funky! So automatically I declined, and immediately erased the thought of the chicken sandwich as well. So I just took the back on cheddar burger with fries. You’re able to upgrade the fries to onion rings for an additional $.50. Everything! The fries and burger were virtually tasteless, but I managed. They offer a condiment bar and believe me, it comes very handy. Loaded with condiments like tomatoes, pickles, red onion and lettuce. They also have mayo, mustard and ketchup to name most of what they have haha. These really make a difference in your burger. The onion rings were drenched in oil so next time I would pass on them. Like I said it’s kinda what you expect from an amusement park. You also expect supreme customer service, and they have that. Very helpful and very nice. They even took me back to the kitchen line to see how the salad looked. That’s just to give you perspective.

As theme park fare goes this place is above average. The food is tasty. The portions are bountiful. And the service is excellent. Disney also accommodates gluten-free dining at most of its restaurants so don’t be afraid to ask! Had the chili burger and it was wonderful. Fries very plentiful. Didn’t try the milkshakes but they sounded great! Definitely worth a look-see. Visit my blog for a full review. Link in my profile.
