The Special Education Center at Mark Twain School in Garden Grove greatly appreciates Mel’s Donuts! This is a weekly Community Based Instruction for students. Our students practice making choices and money exchanges with the employees. The woman behind the counter is very gracious with our students. Our students order using iPads, eye gaze, and visual cards. This can be quite a process and our students get positive encouragement from the employees! On top of practicing so many life skills, we get to enjoy the amazing snacks that seem to get better every time we visit! Thank you for being such a great support to our program and for making perfect donuts!

I happened on this place two years ago when finding an address I had not visited before. It was pretty early in the day and when I saw their sign, I thought a donut sounded good. Hadn’t had a donut in ages. Wow was the donut I got that day quite yummy! The place is older but kept very clean. The usual donut selection; however, I must say that the plain old glazed are the best glazed I’ve ever had. And, they are even a little bigger in size! I now find a reason to drive up Euclid whenever I need to be anywhere near the area of Mel’s. Ladies working in there are always polite. And the glazed donut NEVER disappoints!

Classic, old-school donut shop. Doesn’t get much better than this. Wonderful service from nice folks, every single time. Delicious donuts that are crunchy on the outside and cakey on the inside. Donuts that are so good that they are tasty later in the day or even the next day. I am the office MVP when I bring these in. I get a mixed box with blueberry and an assortment that I let the shop select. A hit every time. CHAMPIONSHIP.

Meh. I’m not a fan of the blueberry donuts at Mel’s Donuts & Deli. The donut I had was way over cooked and on the verge of being burnt. It was not light and fluffy on the inside either. And strangely I found the blueberry donut not sweet enough with a barely discernible blueberry flavor. The apple fritters are good but not the best I’ve had either. Thankfully we were already in the Anaheim area. These are definitely not donuts worth driving too far for.

I am so happy I found Mel’s Donuts! Finally a donut shop near me that makes donuts without rendered pork fat aka lard. I googled kosher donuts and this place came up. I’m vegetarian and I prefer halal and kosher foods for that reason. Also donuts made without animal fat are much less greasy, more healthy and better quality overall. I came in at a time when they were just about to close so I managed to grab a few donuts that were left from that day. They were delicious and still fresh! I can’t wait to come back and try their famous hot fresh cake blueberry donuts!

I am obsessed with donuts and of course HAVE to partake in the war on how has the better blueberry donuts, M&M or Mel’s? First stop M&M, right around the corner, CLOSED! Damn it, now I’ll have to remember how Mel’s is and get M&M next time. (Who am I kidding? I’m sure I’ll go for both again next time, just to be totally accurate, ya know?) Mel’s, run down strip mall, plenty of parking though. They have a sign like Krispy Kreme that lights up when they have fresh blueberry donuts, awesome! It wasn’t on, but they had two trays packed with blueberry and a small assortment of other flavors that did not intrigue. I went with a single blueberry and a Lottery Ticket(ugh…NOT a winner!) The donut was great, fresh, soft inside, crispy outside, good blueberry flavor, nice glaze, simple and tasty, I’ll be back.
Donuts are ok. Customer service sucks. They charge your for creamer? Probably not coming back.
