I came here late one evening just to catch up on some reading for school and Andy was so knowledgeable! She helped me pick out a great glass of rosé and invited me back to their ½ off wine bottle night! They have such a great selection of wine and they’re super knowledgeable about where the wine came from! I will definitely be back!

How many times have you written a review about a bar you’ve been to, but didn’t order a drink? Zero? Exactly. Guess what? My boyfriend and I made our way into the inviting atmosphere of BXCR, with a drink already in hand, plus full bellies. We encountered David, and like rookies with no common sense, asked what BXCR stood for. DUH. Had we really started checking out the decorations, we likely wouldn’t have sounded so lame. David was super nice. He could have chosen to ignore us, do something else while on the clock, etc., but instead, went out of his way to make us feel welcome, tell us about the Boxcar, explain the set-up, talk further about the Packing House, to where I literally shaked his hand upon leaving and will make a point to not only come back soon, but to ask for him, and leave a generous tip. Phenomenal employee, who is proud of where he works. Congrats on working towards becoming a Sommelier, too!

Came here on a Friday night with my friend randomly and we both were expecting a long wait since its the weekend. We got luck and found ourselves seats at the bar! They have a pretty nice selection on wine bottles and tab too. We ordered a pretty good cab on tab, but I forgot the name. Also got a charcuterie board too. The service was excellent! Everyone working at the bar was really friendly and helpful. We also got to sample different types of wine before we decided on ours. The charcuterie board was so good! The house-made jam was amazing! It compliments the cheese and meat very well! They also have tab Tuesday and industrial night Wednesday. I will definitely be back!

I love BXCR. Everytime I come here I have a great time. There is a great selection of wine, always plenty of seating, and even tables to play chess or checkers. This place is themed after an old train car, and thy do a great job with the theme even in a small space on the bottom floor of the packing house. Also, on Thursday nights they do half off a full bottle of wine. Such a great deal! One of my favorite wine spots in the OC.

I got a wine that was on the menu and recommended by the bartender. She was really good about finding one I would like. I forget what it was called but it was a full, rich red wine. They don’t have much space but they let me take my food over from the viet place next door. I stayed there for a bout an hour. It was quiet enough that I could get some studying done. Both the workers were super friendly and I loved the interior design!

Cute little area on the lower level of the packing house. They have a lot of different varieties of wine! There’s also small bites too. My favorite is the cheese board! The cheese board has four different types of cheese, almonds, olives, honey, baguette, and cranberry. It’s one of the best cheese boards I’ve had that’s not overly pricey. Prices are good and service is good too! I love how the baguette is warm and perfectly toasted and it goes really well with the cheese and wine. This is the perfect place to catch up over a few drinks and have little bites to eat if you’re not that hungry, plus you can walk around afterwards too!

Loved everything about this place. The cheese platter was amazing, the Italian sparkling wine was lovely and our waitress was very attentive.

I have never tried any of their food options, but this place still gets four stars based on their other positive qualities. Every wine choice that I have had here has been very good. They offer quite a few flights to allow for a wide variety of tastes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The other great part of this place is they allow food from the other food stalls in the Packing House.

I would live here if I could. The ambiance was very dark and intimate, which is great for group settings, with couples and groups playing chess in the center of what I will call a tavern. Their wine selection was so bountiful, I almost cried. Oh to live in this wine cellar! I would recommend sitting at the bar and trying a few different wines that have and getting some tips for the helpful staff there. They are so knowledgable when it comes to pairings, ingredients and the history of each.

Fabulous wine bar located at the Anaheim Packing District. Andii knows her wine and will put together a fabulous flight for you. So much passion from her as she talks about wine. Great selection of CA and a few from WA, but the real focus is on International wines from Italy, France and Spain… the lesser traveled areas my palate has traveled. Grab a bite from one of the eateries and your wine steward will pair to perfection. Wish we had discovered this place sooner. m, as I would have spent more time there. Well worth the stop, and great education session on wines of the old world!

With all of the craft beer that has become so popular in Orange county we were really lacking and needing a local nearby spot to enjoy wine. I prefer the wine to beer but be not afraid there is also some beer on tap here. This place has a fantastic design aesthetic that grabs your attention right away. The concept is freaking adorable and it is well executed. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I have even been to a wine tasting event here hosted by one of the female sommeliers. Very informative and interesting to taste a new group of wines along with tapas pairings to go with it was a fun and inexpensive evening out. Every time we come we taste new and tasty wines and if you are curious about one they will let you have a taster sip. All in all a fabulous addition to the Anaheim packing house and to the whole area!

Mr first review of 2016!!! I came here on a Wednesday night with my brother and cousin and it was not packed at all at 6pm. One thing that I love about this place is you can go to the packing house and order your food at the different vendors and come to this place and eat it there, of course along with buying g a drink. Gotta show some kind of courtesy! We ordered all white wines from their happy hour menu. The blonde lady that was serving us was very friendly and so adorable. She told us little facts here and there about the wine that we were drinking. I love the décor of this place. Very modern and I live the chess boards as tables. You can even come here, have a drink, and play a game of chess. I would definitely come back here to grab more drinks!

Friendly and informative, that’s how I characterize my experience here, and on the phone prior to my first visit last night. I called and spoke with Neomi who was exceptional in her phone manner and providing me with the 411. Sadly, they don’t have a chef on duty Sundays or Mondays, so the charcuterie plate is unavailable. She suggested, albeit more expensive, the new Italian place for that because outside food is welcome even if their chef is on duty. That’s exactly what we did. See pics. The cost effective option is to order flights of wine from the menu. Four combinations for red, three for white. An interesting variety, the wines represent Argentina, New Zealand, Austria, Germany, France(Burgundy, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon and Rhone), and the USA. The setting is smaller than the pics on Unilocal might suggest. Nonetheless, it was not crowded on a rainy Sunday evening around 7pm. We sat at a table with an integrated chess or checker board. The host told us to move the pieces and make ourselves comfortable. One flight, the Alpine for whites, required a substitute, but having no point of reference we didn’t mind. Comfortable? Absolutely! It was last call, roughly 9:20, before we knew it! All six wines went well with the four cheeses and four cured meats we imported from down the way. I would definitely go back again.

So I visited BXCR at a recent Elite event at the Packing House. A big thank you to BXCR for inviting us to come by and sample a wine! LOCATION&AMBIANCE(Rating 4.75) While this place is small, there’s an extremely inviting allure about it. Maybe it’s because I’m a wine snob, I don’t know. but I loved the place. The bar is close enough to all the seating that the waitresses can keep a close eye on you easily. The«Wall O Wine» keeps you drooling the whole time you’re there and gives a good reason to come back as there are tons to choose from SERVICE(Rating 4) The event did not give me a chance to sit down and truly enjoy the atmosphere and service so my rating of 3.5 I’m confident is not a good measure of there typical service rating, but it’s all I have to go on for now. So I’ll be sure to visit again to update the review.

I visited BXCR the same night I went to Urbana when the live band was playing. Luckily the sound of the band didn’t play as loud here, so we were able to enjoy ourselves without having to literally shout over the music. There is a plethora of wines to choose from. The lady working was very knowledgeable on the wines and did a good job of suggestions based on each of our personal preferences. I chose the white wine flight(I think it was the Alpine?) and it was f*ckn great. We also ordered the charcuterie plate which we all agreed was pretty decent. They also allow you to bring food from other places which was a plus cause I really wanted some clam chowder from Kettlebar. One cool thing about BXCR are the chess/checkers tables. None of us knew how to play so we just sat on the bar stools. Before my next visit, I’m going to try to learn how to play some chess!

This place is super awesome. It definitely stands out compared to other places in the packing district. Super chill vibe. Romantic feel. I don’t play chess but every time I go there someone is, which I think is cool. Have tried both beer and wine and they were really good. I like that you can taste before you buy. Service is good. We got food and they let us eat there while we drank our wine. The chicks that bartend there are nice. Overall it’s one of my favorite places in the packing district and I would highly recommend for a date night. Check out the specials they have some good ones!

What a lovely wine spot that opened on the bottom floor at the Anaheim Packing District! They have a nice selection of wines, and the servers are pretty knowledgable on their wines. We decided to get the tasting flight– I got the alpine express which was a more fruity white wine, and my friend got a red wine pairing. For $ 12/$ 14 a pairing with three mini glasses, the price is decent for what you get. Great spot to talk and catch up with a friend or an after dinner drink! There’s casual seating everywhere, counter seating, as well as tables where you can play chess or checkers!

If Anaheim Packing House is Disneyland, then BXCR is the Mark Twain Riverboat in that it is an authentic and classically themed, richly detailed, mature and mellow oasis hidden away from the hipster paradise that surrounds it. Easily the gem of the Packing House, this compact wine bar is designed like a 1920’s boxcar(but with far less singing hobos), has some killer specials(half off EVERY wine? what??), three chess sets, a very drinkable Anaheim 1888 beer, and although they have a limited but killer menu, the conductor allowed us to bring in our food ordered elsewhere.(Both servers have been nice– the Ellie Kemper-looking Mallory is our favorite so far because she’s a Disney nerd, and helpful Jason Segalish winemaker GianPablo). If you’re looking for something a little more adult and relaxed, choo-choo-choose this one.

Jaime was literally harassing me to come here since he noticed an old-timey box car looking wine bar opened at the Packing House. While visiting the Night Market this past weekend, he got his way and we stopped by to get some vino in our systems. As always, the PH was a zoo on a Saturday night, but we were able to find a spot inside without a problem. We started on their little patio area which had a direct view of the stage where a cool cover band was playing the likes of Bruno Mars and other pop ballads. The sweet spot seemed to be the second communal table on the far right closest to the door. Because it was so packed, you could feel a good amount of airflow every time the door opened and closed. If you’re indecisive, they have a variety of wine flights for you to choose from. It’s three pours, but pay attention so you know which is which. We sort of mixed them up, but Jaime swore they were all good. He got the Locomotive which came with three red blends: Château Rocher Calon, Post Scripum Port Blend and a Niner Cab Blend. Neither Jaime or I are that knowledgeable about wine, but we think we liked the Niner the best. For $ 11, it was a great way to taste a little bit of everything to find the one you liked the best. I myself had the Château Blaignan Haut-Medoc — 2010. I’m a fan of wines from the Bordeaux area of France and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. It was $ 15 for a decent pour and I’d gladly pay it again — I would have had a second glass, but I was wrapped up in the game I was playing, as you’ll see below! What I really loved was the opportunity to play chess while hanging with friends. I hadn’t played in years so we had to give ourselves a refresher course on the rules, but ultimately I destroyed Jeni and took her King with no remorse. It was a lot of fun and the geek inside wanted to play again… I’ll have to come back to challenge some other peeps to a duel on the board. I’m not very good — so be easy on me. If you’re hungry, you can bring your bites in from other vendors at the Packing House without any problems. They do have a variety of charcuterie options if you’re looking to go the cheese route. Service was good, but the quickest way is walking up to the bar yourself. The bartenders do make passes around to pick up dishes and to take additional orders when they can — but sometimes it gets really busy in there. I can’t wait to come back as I think we’ve found one of our favorite new little hang out spots.

My boyfriend and I came for their soft opening. It is a small space, but we only had to wait a few minutes to get a couple of seats. We were greeted at the door by a friendly man offering free champagne.. . don’t mind if I do! We later found out this man was the owner of BXCR, as well as The Camp and The Packinghouse when he came to check in on us later on; his genuine friendliness explains the success of his ventures. Look forward to supporting more of his projects. The comfortable, friendly vibes didn’t end with him either, everyone we interacted with carried the same kindness. Their wine menu is expansive across countries and varietals, to play into the travel theme they have going. They have four pour options from 2oz, glass, carafe to full bottle. I really like this, as it allows for more freedom to taste and discover new wines. The interior is designed with the train car theme; it’s done well, without being cheesy or Disneyland-esque We came on a Friday night, so the DJ outside was kind of loud; look forward to coming back for a mellow date night.
