The service at this place sucks!!! The bartender didn’t say hello, used one word answers when I asked him about the wine and he didn’t want to give us the wifi password. I expect better service when I spend $ 10 for a glass of wine

A casual winebar in the famous Packing District! I will say the décor is great with the vintage look to it and nice seating. The bar area was seriously lacking with only a few chairs but at least there was ample seating in the area. There were only 2 bartenders, so when my friends and I were there, it was quite difficult to get any service let alone a menu. We were finally given a menu and since I wanted to try various types of wine, I opted for their white wine flight. Not good at all… I asked for something that wasn’t so sharp in taste and more of that light, refreshing, crisp taste but all I got was this sour and very watery white wine. I was very disappointed in the selection of the flight and am unsure if I would come here again.

This was a pleasant surprise on our tour of the Packing District. There décor is like a comfortable study with assorted game boards can be used while enjoying a glass of wine. Every wine I tried was great. The Malbec Rose was an extremely interesting selection. The Reisling had a hint of sweetness, but it didn’t overpower the smoothness of the wine. The huge perk of this place is they will allow outside food. With the great options(and limited seating) of the places like The Kroft and Wheat and Sons, their food can be enjoyed over a great glass of wine at Boxcar.

Worst service I have ever experienced! I waited in line to order a glass of wine, the guy at the bar looked at me three times did not offer to help me the took pasted me up and helped someone that worked in way after me. Then an other server told me she would be right with me four times and never actually helped me, but a couple next to us. I ask if I could order and she said once again she’ll be right with me. Wow never again, I guess I’m not classy enough for this place to get service.

Hidden amongst the underground of Packing House you will find The Boxcar! Wile the area itself isn’t huge it’s defiantly more so made to have a lounge feel to it which I definitely enjoyed because it was just that cozy cool feeling of being in an underground lounge. They have a huge variety of wine and a few beers however they don’t really have much for food offerings but being that your inside the Packing House there’s a ton of offerings around and the bar staff said your allowed to bring food into Boxcar from other places so that definitely takes care of that problem. Kinda ironic that I visit this awesome wine bar on a night where I was drinking beer generally when that happen I try to stick to the same drinks. We ordered the 1888 it was a delicious craft brew that is brewed by Anaheim Brewery and definitely something I would get again. During our visit it was rather dead but for a Sunday night after a Ducks loss that was fine with me. The girl they had working was super nice and knowledgable about the wines and beers as well as anything related to the Boxcar which definitely made for an awesome experience. This is a really cool little place and I defiantly will be making this a part of any visit to Packing House!
