Best Kept Secret Salon

My first time here was 2 weeks ago. I went based off of some of their Facebook pictures (before and after). I decided to take a chance with Lori and I’m so glad I did. She did a fantastic job with my cut and highlights. She was friendly, accommodating, and very professional. The price was very reasonable. I received a hand written thank you note today from Lori for choosing her salon. It was a nice touch to a very good service. I’ll definitely be back.

I don’t like to leave bad reviews, or reviews at all, but I had a really unpleasant experience at Best Kept Secret. My friend and I had appointments for a wash and cut, but when we got there, we were told that our stylist was out sick. Our appointments were in the early afternoon, so the salon had nearly half a day to call us and tell us not to come in. But they didn’t, and we planned our day around these appointments, only to be told of the cancellations after we got there. (They said someone must have forgotten to call us.) They tried to reschedule us with a different stylist, but couldn’t fit us in until three hours later in non-​consecutive appointments. I should also mention that my friend is transgender. When she originally called, she asked if they were comfortable and had experience with transgender clients. They said it was no problem. But when we got there, they referred to her as «him,» despite the advance notice and the fact that she is obviously living as a woman. If you know anyone who’s transgender, you understand how frustrating this is.
Really disappointed with Best Kept Secret.

From a guys perspective.
I have always had issues finding a good place to get my hair cut.
Traditional barber shops in the area cut by the numbers. It will be a decent cut but nothing that stand out.
A problem i run into is I never really know what I want and it takes a good stylist to bring it out of me.
I’ve found that stylist with Nicole at Best Kept Secret.
The salon is cozy and relaxing but more importantly customer centric.
It doesn’t feel sterile, but feels lively, frenetic and fun. Everyone working seems excited to be there and happy and it comes across in their work.
I recommend anyone to check it out.

I admit it, I am the girl who is terrified to have any one touch her hair. After a few long lifeless years and some radical life changes, I decided I better work through my fear. When entering the salon, I got the feeling of being at home, the salon is small cozy, clean, and welcoming; alas my nerves weren’t calmed. Nicole, my stylist, worked through a cut consultation and then a color (after blow drying the cut) consultation. She never made me feel hurried or nervous, I was informed every step of the way! In fact, as customers came and went, I almost felt like it was a rather exclusive salon without the obnoxious music and overly modern appointments. You may have to book out a bit for your chosen hair artist but after the amazing cut and color, I will only go one place. Prices were beyond reasonable and for the amount of time and care spent, I would gladly pay double. If your in Montgomery county, are in need of hair services, and want a salon where your stylist actually knows your taste (rather than looking a profile up on a card) you will be pleasantly surprised! I tried this little secret for the first time last week and I was really impressed! Nicole was friendly, made me feel comfortable, and my hair looks amazing! It’s affordable as well! I’ll be going back to this friendly, customer oriented salon!

I’d been putting off getting my hair cut for ages, until it was a terrible mess, because I wanted to find a nearby stylist I could stick with after I moved to the Fort Washington area. Well, I’ve found one!
Today I finally mustered my courage and tried Best Kept Secret, since it’s close to home and I’d seen good reviews, and it was exactly what I’d been looking for. Tiny, homey, independent, with a cheerful, cozy, friendly atmosphere. Everyone in the place seemed to know each other well and to enjoy chatting and trading compliments on the beautiful prom hairstyles the stylists were putting together. Nichole — new to the salon, but clearly an expert! — cut and styled my hair to perfection, and she was wonderfully warm and friendly throughout.
I guess I could keep looking, but I don’t know why I would! I’ve found my new stylist! I love this salon, and I’ll definitely be back.

Usually you can find my restaurant reviews on Unilocal but I had to write about my go to spot for hair cuts. The Best Kept Secret is located on the ground floor of a multi purpose building on Race Street. It has a Race Street Address but the entrance is off of Ridge.
This salon is owner operated and Lori and Heidi really make you feel at home. Their pricing is very affordable and they do a great job. I can’t comment on all the services they provide because I just get my hair cut there.
