This restaurant would be busier if it had a personality. Every time I’ve been there, I feel that I’m burdening the staff. It feels like your visiting your 85 year old grandpa that hates company, but because you’re family, he has to tolerate you. Strangely, I feel as if I’m in trouble every time I enter the restaurant. Fantastic food but stoic environment.

Being new to Amarillo I’m always trying to find new places to eat. That being said I’ve been to franks three times. The first time I had lunch, which consisted of a chicken sandwich with salad. It was good and service was ok. I also got cheesecake to go which was delicious and priced right.(About $ 3 a slice) My next visit I only got a few dessert items to go. I purchased a pastry filled with some type of cream and I was enjoying it I found a hair in the filling. I’ve worked in restaurants before, so I know things do happen on occasion. My third, final and last visit ever however is why I give this place one star. My sister came into town and we decided to dine in for lunch. We came in at approx 1245 and they close at 2. So I don’t see a problem… The air conditioning was either off or broken it was extremely hot in the restaurant. There was a dead silence in the building even though there were 4 other tables dining in. The service however is why I will not be coming back. We were not greeted. We sat down. Our order was taken and that was the last words spoken from our server. She walked by us Numerous times without even asking how everything was. She even came by and cleared the table, took her tip without a smile. She didn’t even deserve the tip! On top of it all the entire time she was straightening up and getting ready to close. With a pretty full restaurant. On top of it all, with her bare hands that I doubt she washed, she was grabbing pastries to put on a tray to put up for the day. It was an uncomfortable and awkward lunch outing. I was embarrassed I took my sister there. I thought I had found an awesome lunch/bakery. I guess I thought wrong.

I am totally in love with this place after today! My dad and I spotted it on western many times but had never given it a chance, today though we decided to try lunch, it was very welcoming and the people at other tables were obviously regulars but not snotty people. Very quick I got the chicken croissant and it was delicious served hot with mayo and tomatoes and side of Caesar salad and orange and delicious bread and little almost corn bread type option on the plate! Yummy!!!

CASHONLY. I had been searching for a local French café & bakery ever since I relocated to Amarillo. Lucky for me, I pass by Frank’s Bakery everyday. I decided to stop in today on my lunch break and ordered a simple spinach quiche. I had expected a single serving small-ish piece of quiche… for about $ 8.00 I thought I’d indulge just for the day… To my surprise, I was handed a pretty hefty spinach quiche wedge/slice which came with a salad, a slice of watermelon, and an amazing cookie. Since I bought my lunch to-go, I did not have an opportunity to dine-in; however, the bakery looked relatively clean and service was attentive and friendly. Let’s start with the star of the show… the portion size of one slice of quiche could easily have fed two adults. They give you a whopping slice of quiche so come hungry. The spinach quiche was creamy, and the crust was nice and buttery and flaky. The only thing I would change about the quiche would be to incorporate more yummy spinach into the quiche filling. I love my veggies and would have liked to see more spinach throughout the quiche instead of just on the top(again, just my own personal opinion). The flavor was spot-on and the best part is that I still have the other half of my meal saved for dinner tonight! The salad consisted of romaine lettuce and was lightly dressed in oil and vinegar along with some herbs/spices that resembled whole grain mustard. SO good, fresh, and crisp. Onto dessert… folks, if you don’t go in for a quiche, make sure you at least walk away from Frank’s with one of those cookies. The cookie that was included in my to-go box was a cross between a soft yet chewy sugar cookie and a macaron cookie without the filling. These unsuspecting little cookies melt in your mouth and are simply delicious. Can’t wait to come back and buy a baguette or some other breads that are displayed and made-fresh, daily… not to mention their wide assortment of desserts. Thanks Frank’s Bakery for being a great little French gem in Amarillo, TX!

This is one of Amarillo’s true hidden gems. I’ve known Frank for nearly twenty years when he first opened up in a little shop at Sunset Center and I’ve been in love with his pastry ever since. If you are looking for something truly gourmet and special in Amarillo, this is one of the few places to find it. If you are coming through Amarillo, it’s just about a block north on Western(an exit from I-40) on the right. You’ll be glad you made the stop.

The only problem with Frank’s is that I hardly ever try anything new, because I can’t bring myself to miss a chance at something I already love, ha — very cool place with an awesome vibe. Love visiting for lunch.

Franks is really good. The bakery is solid and the lunch menu excellent as well. I especially love the Salmon Baguette. They give you a free loaf of bread with your lunch on Wednesdays. The parking lot is tiny and kind of a cluster, so make sure you don’t park somewhere you’ll get trapped.

I would give this four stars, but they don’t keep enough breads and pastries on the shelf. A best-kept secret, this place isn’t. Go early, and bring cash or write a check, because they don’t accept your debit or credit card. Chocolate croissant will make you swear you’re in Paris(close your eyes and forget you’re in Amarillo). The bread is amazing.

A good friend who lives in Amarillo has supplied me with Frank’s delicious pastries(both sweet and savory) on a couple of my visits. All I can say is: TRYITOUT. Please, I’m not being overdramatic. These are easily some of the best pastries I’ve had. Perfectly cooked, perfectly flavored. Flaky and moist and perfect. I’ve never been to the actual store, so I can’t comment on that, but the food is just ridiculous. My friend has mentioned that Frank is a real Frenchman, and boy does he know his dang ol’ dang food.

Fantastico AUTHENTIC french food… yum flakey crusts yummy yummy yummy . We loved having an awesome lunch… and Frank thanks for the free bread :) I love Amarillo mix and match interiors in their businesses. Little Paris meets handmade mural of some nonexisting city in the future(think Logan’s Run)

This very simple little cash-only place has great French pastries for a VERY low price! Just a block off I-40 so if you wanna snack or sandwich while passing across the Texas Panhandle this is a great choice! The owner immigrated from France and he and his daughter definitely know what they are doing in the pastry chef area! The interior is very simple, but don’t let the unimpressive environment deceive you, the croissants are great! My main complaint is that they don’t have an espresso machine. We wanted café au lait and had to settle for american style drip coffee with creamer, a pretty sad state of affairs given how great their pastries are. If I lived in Amarillo I would be eating here at least once a week! I haven’t tried the sandwiches but the baguette, croissant, and palmiers were great.

Definitely the best french food you can get in Amarillo, TX. Just remember to bring CASH/Local Check. They won’t take your out-of-towner checks or credit cards. Delicious food for ~$ 7 for sandwich/salad/meuringe cookie. Absolutely love it.

I have driven past this place countless times on jaunts through Amarillo with the inlaws. But, this time I went in on the recommendation of one of my professors. I purchased 2 palmiers, 2 ham and cheese croissants, and the very last chocolate croissant. Unfortunately they don’t take cards, so I left. What a sad end to the story. Just kidding! They agreed to accept my Lubbock check. All day, I rotated my white paper bags filled with pastries around the trunk, as we rode around with my inlaws and loaded their trunk with the spoils of assorted errands. Then I carefully transferred them to our Jeep for the trek back to Lubbock. All the while, the palmier was gently prodding me to take an itsy bitsy bite. I remained in control until we arrived home… and then while unloading the precious whiute paper bags, I peaked in on the palmier and lost it! It was perfect. sweet, crisp, just the right amount of tenderness in the middle… And this morning, the chocolate croissant met her end. She was scrumptious! Like the palmier, the croissant was perfectly flaky on the outside and tender on the inside. Oh the chocolate was delectable, dark and semi solid, then creamy in your mouth… I am saving the ham and cheese for tomorrow morning, but I am not confident I will maintain the will power… I hate you Amarillo. Why do you get a Franks? temper tanturm ensues…

Frank’s bakery is in the french style with tasty looking sweet breads and baguettes. The baguette is possibly the best in Amarillo where there is a dearth of good bread. My almond croissant was fine except for the fact they pre cut it in case I wanted a sandwich. This tended to dry out the thing a bit more than I would have liked. Plus,(yes I know french), the counter staff was borderline rude. Seriously? There are like 2 people in here to attend. You don’t have to act impatient. In the broad scheme of Amarillo though, this is pretty good.
