Of all the so-called dollar stores out there today, I’ve found that Dollar Tree is consistently the cleanest, most well organized of the bunch. It’s also the only one where every item only costs $ 1. Like all dollar stores, you have to pay attention to what you’re getting. A can of condensed milk at Dollar Tree may only cost you a dollar, but it’s 88 cents at Walmart, and sometimes 79 cents at the grocery store. On the other hand I can get a gallon of bleach for a buck, vs 2 or 3 dollars at Walmart. Over the years I’ve found the best deals are the seasonal decorations, glassware, the canned chicken which tastes way better then great value or any other generic brand, and gift bags. There are also some good deals on cleaning supplies, but as usual you should pay attention to the volume and what it sells for elsewhere. The real savings come in when you find coupons for name brand items they happen to carry. More than once I’ve wound up getting something for free with a dollar off coupon.
