Love the food and atmosphere. I recommend their pulled pork nachos for an appetizer, but don’t try to take them on by yourself it is a huge plate!

Very good, I’ve come here multiple times, and each time was a success. The food is always very flavorful. Very kind staff. One of the best restaurants in town!

Would give more stars if the«owner» was more involved ! We were there for lunch and the bartender was working her butt off … the other waitperson didn’t seem to realize that all the customers were the responsibility of the whole staff. The«owner» didn’t seem to realize that he could/should help. Soup was served lukewarm. Our next visit to Alvin will NOT include the Gordon Street Tavern.

I really like this place! Gordon’s has an «mid-town» feel without the midtown prices! Excellent place to watch sports and for a bar the food is really good. I find it way better overall than the chains like Twin Peaks, Bombshells, etc; but that’s just me. The manager was really nice as well; service is excellent. I hope it lasts because there is nothing like it out here in these parts!

Excellent Beer selection. Well executed bar food that reaches beyond its own category and wouldn’t be found amiss at a bistro or happening lunch spot downtown H-Town. Great experience if a bit less cozy than the Tavern moniker may suggest. Overall not enough to knock off a star, especially with the prompt service to top off the visit.

Great food and cold beer. This is a nice place to take the family for dinner or to just sit at the bar and catch a game on one of their many TVs. The monte cristo sandwich is by far my favorite but you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu.

This place was solid and I would prefer to give it at least 3.5. For the area, it’s probably closer to 4 – 5; however, it isn’t destination dining and others can do it better, albeit closer to the center of Houston. My double meat burger was presented well and I liked how the Hawaiian bun held up to the toppings. I was a bit disappointed that no pink was to be seen in the meat at all, leaving the beef virtually flavorless. Thankfully, the guacamole tasted fresh and the fried onions were crispy, so my meal wasn’t bland. Shared the truffle mac and cheese with a friend. The truffle oil was present without overpowering, but the cheese was a bit runny for my taste. The pasta was a nice al dente. If you’re in the area, this place is worth a quick trip.

Don’t miss the truffle Mac and cheese! Seriously the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. The lavender beer was great as well! Fried pickles not to be missed!

A couple of updates. They now have a Brewpub license and are beginning to brew some of their own beers to have on tap. I had their Blonde ale a couple of weeks ago. It was very good. They will still have plenty of beer from other breweries on tap. Always a great selection. On the Junky Monkey chili cheese dog, they used to make their own sausage but now they use a Nathan’s or Hebrew National dog… it is high quality. Sorry I can’ t remember which one. This is still the best place to eat in Alvin, Texas and it still has the best beer selection.

We moved to Alvin from Houston. In Houston we were within walking distance to Rice Village so moving here was a bit of culture shock. We tried Gordon Street Tavern today and glad we did! Nice atmosphere in an historic building. I had the shepherds pie which was excellent. My husband had fish and chips and said it was very good. Service was great and beer was good. We will be back!

Went to Gordon Street Tavern last night for late dinner. Did not realize how late until we got there. It was 10:40, we still got a cheery greeting and a good meal. Ashlee our server was great and the Tavern Salad and Chili hit the spot. They also have a good tap wall of craft beer. If you have not been here, give it a try, you will have fun!!!

We’d targeted for a(maybe) Mexican restaurant nearby, but after seeing the menu we walked. I VERY rarely do that but their fair wasn’t at all what we expected. So we then went here which is very nearby. I got the Junky Monkey. It was good enough, but nothing to tell friends about. My companion got the Baja Chicken Sandwich. He didn’t comment on it one way or the other. Overall the place didn’t light my fire. Maybe if you’re there for beer it would be a better experience. For some reason when I got home the pictures I took were all black .___ I’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years

This craft crew bar has an excellent kitchen. The trio plate appetizer is delicious. The scotch egg is particularly interesting and tasty and the jalapeño poppers are loaded down with pepper jack cheese which adds an unexpected flavor to the cheddar popper paradigm. The boudin balls are pretty good too. I ordered the cheddar burger with bacon and bbq sauce. It did not disappoint. The only complaint I can muster is that it is so thick that it becomes a chore to eat. The bacon is heavy and the sauce is light and the whole thing is just scrumptious. My girlfriend had the eggplant sandwich. It was served on a buttery Texas toast. Very good. Try this place it is awesome. Everything is too notch. Just fantastic.

Very nice place. The giant TV to seats ratio is crazy good. We were 6 adults, 2 teens and a child. We had scotch egg, tater tots, chicken fingers and chili, and all was good. We even had deep fried Twinkie. But the best is the beer choices. I had St Arnold’s Devine Reserve on tap. Exceptional. Service was plenty good.

The food is very sub par and way too overpriced. I’ve been here a few times to try different things, hoping I would find something I like, it’s all pretty mediocre to bad. Very very greasy and heavily salted.

We ate here and had a couple beers and were quite pleased. We sat on the patio as it was a breezy and warm evening. The craft beer selection is outstanding, but there are a few too many pumpkin beers offered(seasonally) for my taste. The St. Arnold pumpkin cask was incredible! We started with some tasty fried pickles, coated perfectly. The buttermilk ranch served with them was cold and tasted homemade. We also each had a chicken sandwich — the Baja and the Blue. Both came with a real boneless chicken breast — not one that was built for a burger bun. The sandwiches were piled high and included thick, peppered bacon. Very impressive! This is about a 15-minute drive from our house, and I see us eating here often.

Stopped in for lunch. Great food, awesome atmosphere, and very good craft beer selection. Only downside was I had to go back to work. If I’m in the area I’ll for sure be back. The scotch egg is a great starter and the Baja chicken sandwich was loaded with flavor.

So, there aren’t many good things to say about the small, tiny city of Alvin, just south of Pearland. It’s the hometown of Nolan Ryan. They have a really cool skate park. The city is über clean thanks to some great volunteers and community leaders. Oh, and they have a pretty cool little beer bar there called the Gordon Street Tavern. Okay, so the majority of their beers are nothing special… most of which can be found at any run of the mill bar serving beer. However, there are a few gems that rotate through… which for a small city like Alvin, is quite amazing. They also have some bottles for sale as well. The food there is typical bar fare, but it’s decent typical bar fare at Alvin prices. Score! So if you ever find yourself stalking Nolan Ryan or wanting to see small town America and not have to travel to some ghost town to find it, then you might want to stop by and visit Gordon Street Tavern and grab a pint! It’s worth it… but only if you’re already there!

Had a project in Alvin we were finishing up and was told this was the«nicest place to eat«in Alvin(that wasn’t BBQ). Some of the local ladies tell me this anyways. I was intrigued by this statement and felt the need to have some lunch with a friend who lives in the area. I can see where those people who said so were coming from. It is a bit more upscale than the last few places I grabbed a bite to eat. Décor is more sports oriented and fashioned itself as more of an upscale sports bar(though, the exact definition of a modern tavern escapes me). The wings were so incredibly moist and tender. Perhaps a bit too tender. the thing fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Had it with the Memphis Dry Rub. Burger was of the bacon and cheese variety and had that artisan bread and a huge side of fries. In the bubble Alvin, TX this is in fact a great place to have a nice evening out.
