Alton, IL
Cat’s is an anchor business in Alton’s downtown district. Cat is and has always been the biggest attraction, along with the cold beer, stiff drinks, and good company.

Awesome saloon. Can’t beat the atmosphere. Perfect baseball bar. Lots to keep you busy. Check out the Pink Panther neon they stole from Mulligan’s in Peoria.

Catdaddy’s turned out to be a great place for us to just have a few drinks and kill some time watching the ALCS before heading to dinner at a nearby restaurant in downtown Alton. Rick, the bartender, was very conversational, with the regulars and first-​timers alike. Even with the NLCS game featuring the Cardinals on TV when we returned after dinner, the bar was never too noisy, so it was always a good place for conversation and interaction. The drink prices were very reasonable, but keep in mind it is cash only. It’s a great choice for a neighborhood bar in the Alton area.

Red Bud, IL
Last time they hosted their first Wine Club of the season. The place was closed to the public. We got a chance to sample 4 different wines, 2 red and 2 white. The man that did the presenting was very knowledgeable about the wines. As an added bonus a lady from the Olive Oil shop was giving samples and suggests for oils and vinegars to compliment the wines. The place a has a décor of NOLA, of course because of the name. The bathrooms were not very clean and actually very run down. They did have an outside seating and smoking area (I love you IL) This is a pretty small place. I do not think that they could have 70 people in the place at one time.

On my trip to Alton this past weekend we had some time to kill so we wandered around town until we came to Catdaddys.
It was about 530 in the afternoon and the bar was empty. We were greeted by the bartender and took our seats at the bar. We each had two drinks and chatted up the bartender about Alton. She was very friendly and suggested some great spots to visit.
Our final tab wasn’t crazy and reflected the price you would expect to pay at any local bar. I didn’t get to check out any of the other bars in Alton, but next time I do I’ll be sure to stop back at Catdaddy’s.

OMG one of the best dive bars I’ve been to! I love this place. When I went to college up the way I came here with my Uncle one night and honestly we were rulin the bar! This was back when you could smoke at the bar and just have a good time! These are the good ol days! they have darts and pool, video games up at the entrance, their bathrooms are a little gross… but hey its a bar. I loved the people that work there and all their customers! I can guranteee if you come here… you’ll have a night to remember
