I’ve been here twice but never actually bought anything but some large sized spices. Should I have the chance to do some bulk cooking or a large party I will definitely get my supplies here. The prices are good. This is the place that supplies the local restaurants. It was amazingly clean and organized.

I noticed people slamming this place, and it is so undeserved. IF you can do the math, the potential for great savings exists at GFS. IF you are not lazy and can spare a teeny little bit of your time, you can ask for the meat, cheese to be cut, and store some of it in your freezer. IF you are intelligent, and a even fair home economist, you’ll see this makes sense. SOME items are too costly there, but the expensive stuff is where you’ll SAVEBIG. I bought an over 6lb block of mozzarella(and their cheese is AWESOME!) because I make all my own pizzas. The cost per lb? 2.29!!! HALF what Walmart wants! They offered to slice it if I wanted. I didn’t have to ask for any help, their INTELLIGENT and POLITE Staff was offering everytime I even looked slightly hesitant. I hope they never change.

GFS is just another wanna be grocery store, this place is a lot like Sams club and Costco but with out membership cost and smaller inside. They day I wen there was probably one other person in there and a bunch of employes just wondering up front what to do, the place looks dead and like it wont make it. There prices were not like anything to be amazed at even if you do get large quantities a lot of people do not have the space to store it in there fridge or freezer. This looks more like a place were restaurants or chefs would shop at to buy stuff for there restaurant but not for a private party being hosted by a normal person. The place was very clean and shelf’s were full but of course they do not seem to have much clientele so no wonder why. This is the first GFS in town but with so much competition around I am not sure how they will survive. The building it self use to be a Circuit city before for many years before they went out of business. Hmm. worth shopping here for your food, not really unless you have a restaurant. I give them two stars because honestly this place did not impress me at all. The only thing I would MAYBE come back in here for is a pack of red bull at about 30 – 35 bucks for 24 I believe.

Went to GFS on a Saturday, only about 5 customers in the grocery. Was pretty empty. We picked up a few items, they were extra large much Ike all of the things they sell. We noticed they advertised ground beef for $ 2.39 a pound for 80⁄20. We went and checked it out, it’s sold in a large roll that is 10 pounds. I couldn’t purchase the item because it would be tough for me to store. Then I also wondered about pink slime that many places have stopped selling. We figured it wasn’t worth the trouble to save about a buck a pound. A lot of the items were probably cheaper then SAMs club, without the club fees. But we can’t purchase such large amounts of one item and make it worth the storage issues. They need to get some customers in there, not sure if we just hit them at a slow time, but some of those items will go bad if not sold quick enough. Switched my rating to two stars because there is really no reason to go here. So does not deserve average rating.

Have you ever wondered how the chef(or cook) at your local eatery makes the clam chowder so tasty? How he made the canolli just like grandma made it? Well, the chances are pretty good that he didn’t make it at all. He may have bought it already made from Gordon Food Service. Or maybe he added his ‘special touch’ to something that came from the 100 year old food service supplier. Well, now you can shop their retail supermarket and buy the same items that the restaurateurs do, and save a buck or two in the process. No membership is required. Some items come in normal supermarket sizes, but most are larger. The hot sauce comes in quarts and gallons instead of 8 oz. bottles. The canned soups come in 36 oz. cans instead of 10 oz cans. If you need to take a soup or main dish to a fund raising dinner, you could take a tub of frozen cheddar soup or clam chowder(15 servings, $ 13.99) and be a hit. We bought a 10 pack of fresh Angus chuck burger patties for 7.99, and an 8 pack of 5″ seeded buns to go with them for $ 1.99! You can’t even GET5″ buns at most markets. Of course they carry a wide array of bases for your soup or gravy– we chose the 16 oz GFS brand roasted beef base($ 6.49). This concentrated flavor will go into a French onion soup as soon as we get some fresh Florida onions. Some GFS Marketplace stores have fresh meat and produce, some don’t. This one has a limited selection of good looking fresh meat, and some of the usual supermarket types of produce. Be sure to check the website for monthly specials. By the way, the store was spotless and surprisingly uncrowded when we visited on a Monday afternoon. If you consider yourself a foodie, you need to visit this store, even if you don’t buy anything(yeah, right.) This GFS Marketplace is located on 436, just west of 17 – 92, across from the Honeybaked Ham store. Hours: M-S 7AM to 8PM. Sun: 8AM to 6PM.
