If you are near Alta, go here to eat! Don’t even think about it, JUSTDOIT!!! The folks actually making the food are so great and the manager is so friendly, especially when it comes to suggestions for new items(seasoned fries, Texas Pete hot fries, etc.) The best thing that I have eaten in Salt Lake City the week that I have been here, hands down is the CHILKEN! A tasty, spicy chicken breast covered with a steaming hot scoop of chili and topped with cheese, onions and any other yummy thing you request. The Chilken is coming at you like a pulpwood truck on a dirt road! Order one, gaze at it lustfully as it sits on the counter, then dive into it mouth first! If these folks were in Atlanta, I’d be eating this every day and be as big as the side of a barn — but I sure would be happy! Well done Alf’s crew — see you next year! Even a relative beginner is able to ski over to Alf’s for lunch on the side of a mountain. The view of High Rustler is awesome. You can eat out on the deck if it’s sunny, or wade like a penguin on a beach to find a table. Even though the place is really crowded at lunch, I’ve never had to wait long to find a table. Lots of people just want to be there long enough to refuel, and then get back out onto the snow. Go ahead and complain about ski resort prices. Hubby and I get a cheeseburger, load it up with lettuce, onion and tomato, then slice it in half. If we eat too much we’re too sleepy to be sharp on our skis, so that’s what works best for us. Over the years I have noticed that the mini ski shop in the corner has gotten bigger and bigger. More and more stuff. Great if you have an equipment malfunction and can’t wait to get back to Albion base to search for a replacement. Alf’s is in a really convenient location, close to lifts and on the return trip home from up the mountain. You can ski down to the Sugarloaf Lift or hike a little way up the hill to the Cecret Lift, which gets you over to Supreme. My favorite place to have lunch when I’m skiing at Alta Ski Resort.
