I was so excited to be treated to breakfast for Mother’s Day. My husband and children were so thoughtful to find a gluten free breakfast place. DH even made a reservation assuming this place would be packed on Mother’s Day. We arrived at 9AM and found ample parking. My kids were thrilled that there was a koi pond and searing outside under the pergola. As soon as we walked up to the table my usually oblivious son says«this table is dirty». I look and he is right. I very obviously start to seep the crumbs from the table while the hostess waits. Our server came out at some point to take a drink order. She was about the only good thing here. And not because she was a stellar server simply because she was pleasant and cute as a button. We ordered coffee and juice for the kids. Drinks came out fairly quickly but that is where any speed ended. Taking our order came at least 15 minutes later. We were pretty ignored for the next 40 minutes it took to get eggs, waffle and pancakes. We had time to use the restroom twice. EACH of us. One of those trips made me wonder what they were doing in the kitchen b/c it sounded like someone was pummeling something in the kitchen. When our food came out about 40 minutes into our venture we were all starving. It took three servers to bring our four plates out. My son grabbed the bacon and declared it was the best bacon ever. Most likely b/c he was starving. My stack of pancakes was enormous and I was given a cute little pitcher with about two tablespoons of syrup. The pancakes were literally so dry I choked on them three times. Thank god for the cold coffee b/c I had to use it to was down the crumbs. My sons potatoes were grey and scrambled eggs were brown not moist or fluffy. My husbands omelette was the same brown color. He said it was«uninspiring». My daughters waffle looked decent although it came with no syrup and very little sugar for a sugar waffle. We requested syrup for both of our meals and she drowned her waffle in the syrup. I’m pretty sure that is why it was edible. Over an hour and a half later we were done and $ 50 poorer. Definitely not worth the price not the 30 minute trip. It’s too bad because the setting is really cute and the concept is great.

I preface this by saying I am not this restaurant’s target market/customer. I do not have celiac disease nor do I have some fake issue where I pretend that not eating gluten has made me feel like a brand new person(yeah, I said it… oooh, BURN). I came here because I’m cheap and had Scoutmob. My family came on a weekend morning around 10:30 and noticed that we were the ONLY customers in the whole restaurant. This should’ve been a sign to us. As I mentioned before, I do not eat gluten-free food. Perhaps if I did, I wouldn’t know what I was missing. I would find dry, tasteless pancakes to be awesome. I do know what real pancakes taste like, though, and these were far from it. My kids who will eat anything if you dump syrup on it had maybe two bites of their pancakes and then refused to eat more. The worst is that my husband ordered an eggs benedict which was taking forever. The server brought all the other orders to the table and told my husband that they were still making the eggs. We waited and waited and waited. An hour went by. The server finally dropped the dish on the table and said that the kitchen was still making the hollandaise sauce. We waited some more. Thirty minutes goes by. My kids are completely antsy now because they’re hungry from refusing to eat the pancakes and they’re bored. Like I said, we were the only customers so we couldn’t understand why this hollandaise sauce was taking so long. My husband’s eggs benedict without the sauce was now ice cold. Our server finally came to the table and said that the chef wasn’t able to make the sauce correctly. You read that right. A chef who I presume has had culinary training could not make a sauce that my untrained, let’s-have-mac-n-cheese-again-kids-because-I-can’t-cook self is able to easily whip up. My husband ate what was now a cold egg sandwich. To add insult to injury, the server charged us for the eggs benedict. When my husband said to him that there was no way we were paying for it, the server said(and I kid you not), «Well, you did eat and finish what was served.» The server gave a loud, obnoxious sigh and proceeded to walk back to the register to remove the item from the bill. My husband and I stared at each other with looks like, «Did he??? Did that??? I mean, did this really just happen???» Our kids were present so we opted not to say anything. Had they not been there I’m sure our language would’ve been better suited for a biker bar. Avoid this place like allegedly gluten-sensitive fad dieters avoid gluten.

The food was average and the service took forever. I have a feeling they were severely understaffed. Our waiter was very kind, but he just couldn’t keep up. Risotto was cold. Mussels were dry. My dinner looked like it came out of a frozen dinner box. Don’t get the chicken and risotto! I would go back for the chocolate cake. It is gluten free and the best chocolate cake I have ever had.

I finally got to check out this all gluten free restaurant for lunch the other day. I sat on the patio which was delightful. I chose a table on the porch area and it reminded me of summer days, sitting on my porch of my childhood home. Enough nostalgia though. On to the food! I ordered the chicken pesto mozzarella tomato sandwich, minus the chicken, and breaded zucchini fries. The sandwich was small but extremely filling. It tasted a little sweet to me, which could have been due to the pesto. It was very good, I miss sandwich bread so very much sometimes, so anytime I can eat good quality gluten free bread it’s a good day. The zucchini fries were also very good, the breading tasted pretty authentic, and as much as I tried, I couldn’t finish them all, I was about to explode. My server was very sweet and passionate about healthy food. We had a nice conversation. Overall this place was on point. I need to come back here soon to try the dinner menu!

We have been to tin roof a few times and we always have to wait so long for our food. who has that kind of time on the weekend? The food is okay .when they first opened I think the food was better than it is now . My husband and I we’re hoping that they were just getting the kinks out but not the case. The place can be dead yet the servers are mia for what feels like an eternity. Makes me wonder… what the hell are they doing?

I am so impressed with this place! First off, I am not gluten free. This place prides themselves on being gluten free but don’t let that turn you away if you enjoy gluten! You will not miss it one bit. I dined here tonight with my GF friend. We had such a hard time deciding what to order because everything on the menu looked great. We had the fried green tomato appetizer with bacon jam and goat cheese. The tomatoes were crispy and perfectly complimented with the cheese and jam. For our entrées we chose a pimento cheese and bacon burger, and risotto with sautéed chicken and glazed carrots. it did not occur to me until after I had finished my half of the burger that the bun was gluten free. The risotto and chicken dish did not look very special when it arrived but the flavor was delicious. I ate every bite. I will absolutely be back.

This is my last Unilocal review because I don’t trust Unilocalers. Why anyone would give this place 4 or 5 stars is beyond me. I find that usually when I hate a restaurant, Unilocalers love it. I digress. This place started off as an accident. We only spotted it while searching for a nonexistent antique store. «Looks cute, aaaahhhh coy fish pond. And gazebo? Count me in!» That’s where the good ends and the carnival begins. You know, the kind of carnival you are looking forward to, getting on some awesome nostalgic rides, pet some cuddly goats, eat a fried foot long of something. Then you go in and hear the 49 year old snaggle-toothed carnies cussing 2 feet away from your toddler about how the 15 year old girls on the ferris wheel were too old for their taste. At the end of the night you spent $ 75 for some sad malfunctioning rides, starving goats, and diarrhea. Let’s talk about this place. After entering the empty restaurant and being lead to the patio where we were seated at the only table in the place that was dirty and he had to clean(I know?) the waiter disappeared. Then he reappeared to take our drink order 10 minutes later. «Is Dr. Pepper the same as rootbeer?» Yes, I am not making that up, he actually asked us that. Jump ahead 10 more minutes and we ordered 3 simple dishes– a burger, BLT and a Thai chicken Panini. Immediately we engaged our invisibility shield because we were no longer noticed. Two more tables were inhabited in the meanwhile. After an eternity and the later table receiving their order way ahead of us(and us receiving no refills and starving and getting frustrated), the server emerges with 2 plates. He takes it to the third table who literally just ordered and I look at my SIL and say«he’s got our order and he’s trying to give it to them.» Then another guy/server/bartender comes out holding my order because holding 3 plates is an impossibility and the two employees congregate at the other table being assured and reassured by the patrons that no one ordered a BLT, burger, or Thai chicken panini. I made a gesture(not the kind I really wanted to make) that it was OUR order. The other guy/server/bartender somehow saw through our invisibility shield because he said«it’s THEIR order», to which our original server exclaims«Sooo many orders!» Yes, he said«Sooo many orders!». For 3 orders. Now to the food. Panini translates to tiny dry sandwich in this restaurant. My son’s burger was a microwaved-tasting hockey puck that was entirely inedible. He asked me to smell it because it smelled like a dog biscuit. I tasted it against my will and I longed for dog biscuit because that would have been better. Jump ahead, he ends up crying in the restaurant because kids have this sixth sense– they sense a bad time. My sister-in-laws BLT was laughable and miniscule. Now admittedly she laughs at everything, and this was no exception, but it baffled me how anyone could NOT laugh at this food. Unless you’re crying at it. My Thai chicken Panini had no Thai and was simply a boiled piece of very white chicken with strong cheese on it. The bread being gluten free was very dry and hard and thankfully small. But where in Thailand do they put strong cheese on their chicken? McDonalds perhaps? It was a huge disappointment that set us back $ 53. The only saving grace was that it gives us something to make fun of forever and ever and ever and ever.

Where to begin… The ingredients for our meal must have been grown fresh for what we ordered… and I say that because it is the longest I have ever had to wait for a burger and fries… they must have planted, grown and harvested the lettuce and tomatoes while we waited. OH and the fries took an extra ten minutes, after I got my burger, to come out. The fries, the remnants of whatever was in the bag or left in the fry basket, was served on a medium sized plate to highlight how few you get(about a dozen normal fry sized pieces and another dozen pieces less than an inch). To top it off, the service is shoddy. You might be thinking«oh he’s just nitpicking now», to which I will reply«no kind sir, when you barely see your server over a ridiculous long period where no food comes out, but then when receiving your check he hovers over you for several minutes». Also, when we give you our card with the receipt, and then you come back with A NEWAMOUNT, there is a problem with your service. «Oh I added the coffee and drinks that I forgot to charge originally and swiped it for you without letting you see what you’re paying for». Perhaps you should have said oops, I botched this, I’ll own it. Nope, not even a sorry I forgot to do this. You just said«here’s your new amount with the drinks» while returning our card and walking away. If you are gluten free, go here because there are probably very few options for you. If you’re not, don’t waste your time.

Went for Brunch. I’m not gluten intolerant and I still really liked this place. The bread was surprisingly good. What we liked: 1. Food was tasty and well seasoned/prepared. 2. Atmosphere was awesome. 3. Portions were normal(aka not enough to choke a horse) 4. Wile boar sausage is fantastic 5. The bread is surprisingly good. Wouldn’t think so given it’s all gluten free but it was amazing. What we didn’t like: 1. Servers were a little weird and seemed to not really know what was going on. 2. Coffee was terrible(but this is so common I’m not sure why I even mention it anymore) 3. Hollandaise sauce was lumpy. All in all this is one of my favorite brunch places in the OTP now and I will likely be back soon.

Gluten free or not — this food is DELICIOUS. My gluten eating boyfriend loved everything we got, from the Mac and cheese to the fried chicken, grouper, and chocolate cake. I ate 100% of my meal and had the biggest food baby ever. An epic Valentine’s Day Date for sure. I cannot wait to go back for brunch!

Outstanding food, but very cramped seating arrangements. The hand made fries and sauces are excellent and the very unique BLT was one of the very best I’ve ever had. 5 stars to the fresh food and chef, but they need to work on layout of seating before I become a regular.

I’m not going to question how the hell everything is GF but everything was fantastic. Brad even enjoyed it and he loves some gluten(just saying). Great lunch spot nestled in a cute little area in the burbs. Check it out!

[TL;DR] GLUTEN-FREEZONE. If you like gluten, go somewhere else. Tin Roof Kitchen has had other occupants in its same space which have not done well. It’s really sad because as you can see from my picture, the place is really very quaint with the old house charm complete with gazebo and pond that greet you as you walk toward the entrance. It’s set back off Main St, has parking, and a heated, enclosed patio. I should have paid more attention to the fact that it was gluten-free, but you know… somehow I miss all the small details. At any rate, we ordered off the holiday menu, ending up with a traditional breakfast(scrambled eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage) and French toast. I had the wild pork sausage which consists of 60% boar. I gave it a try. It was hearty. Not sure I actually could tell the difference but enjoyed it all the same. The French toast, unfortunately, was drier than old shoes. I thought maybe it was the gluten-free thing, but it was drier than the toast that came with the traditional breakfast. Even asked for syrup(heretic!) which helped but didn’t cure. The traditional breakfast was okay. The potatoes were a bit disappointing lacking enough depth in flavor and spice. Most of the prices range from $ 8 to $ 15. Most things seemed to cost just a little bit more than usual. My coffee, for example, was $ 3.50. Might go back for a lunch or dinner thing, but for breakfast, the destination will probably be elsewhere. Jacob is a super great waiter, by the way. Really nice. TIP: They’re on Scoutmob.

My wife and I stumbled on Tin Roof Kitchen when we started going to the Farmer’s Market this summer and have eaten there numerous times — mostly for breakfast before our Farmer’s Market outings, but also several times for dinner. My wife must eat gluten free due to allergies, so finding a restaurant she could feel comfortable eating in was a god-send. And I have to say this is the first gluten free restaurant where I truly felt like the food was just great food — not«great considering it is gluten free» food! For breakfast I always have the vegetable omelet which comes with smashed potatoes, bacon and gluten free wheat toast. Always excellent(ask for the bacon extra crispy — even better this way). My wife gets the pancakes — the best pancakes I have found in the area, gluten free or otherwise! For dinner, I LOVE the turkey meatloaf dish(comes with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Rivals any meatloaf dish I’ve ever had — moist, flavorful, excellent! My wife really misses pizza since she has had to go gluten free, and one night a week they will have a gluten free pizza. It is very good, though still a bit thin(as all gluten free pizza is). They tend to do more«creative» pizzas when they have it on the menu. Our request would be to do some basics — plain old cheese and tomato sauce, for example. when you can’t eat it elsewhere, you don’t need it to be fancy to enjoy it! Overall, we highly recommend Tin Roof Kitchen!

HOLYMOLY! this is a gluten free eater’s paradise. I was glad that for once I didn’t have to ask for a gf menu or ask about the ingredients. The service and food were just phenomenal. I ordered the jalapeño burger with cajun fries. The meat on that burger was huge. Plenty of crispy bacon inside the burger. And those cajun fries were bomb. Even being full after my meal, I had the chocolate peanut butter cake. It’s pretty difficult to find good gf desserts. Theyre usually dry and crumbly and have a weird aftertaste, but not the ones from tinroofkitchen! The cake was incredibly moist and not too sweet. It’s basically a chocolate cake with a peanut butter sauce flowing on top. I ate every single bite and loved it(: Whether you avoid gluten or not, come try this place. I’ll be back for sure!

Great food, but I keep waiting for the service to get better. Nearly everything I’ve eaten on 6 trips here has been excellent. If this review were based solely on the food is give 5 stars. Unfortunately, the service has been poor, bordering on horrible, each time. 1 star. I’m really rooting for this place to succeed, especially since it’s one of the few restaurants my wife can safely eat. But the servers need some training asap.

This will be the first time I’ve given a restaurant only one star. Granted, it was my only visit and I went only a little more than a month after they had opened. Even so, though our waitress was pleasant she was incompetent. Though we were one of only three tables seated in the establishment, and there was one other waitress on duty, it was twenty minute after placing our order for appetizers that we were informed that two of the appetizers we had ordered were unavailable – and this was at 11:30AM at a place that doesn’t serve breakfast! She hardly came back to check on us after our food was finally served. The food was served at exactly the same time as the appetizers, and though each of the four of us got something different, all of us felt that our food was very disappointing in quality. Some dishes were already cold when served. One salad was very disappointing, with wilted lettuce. Most of the food simply tasted like generic food, and was not even particularly good, as such. What brought the experience down to a one star rating was the experience of speaking to the owner. After introducing myself as a first time customer, she thanked me for coming but didn’t even ask how my experience was – so I volunteered, commenting her on the building and it’s décor, but mentioning as politely as possible that we had had a sub-par experience. She didn’t even apologize for extremely slow and inattentive service and disappointing food. Rather, she simply said she hoped we’d come back and try them again. With what incentive???

We happened to(horrors) be OTP and saw the ScoutMob for this place with the ravings of the GF food. It’s ALL true! SHE had a panini that was perfect — sweet potato fries rounded it out for her. Why is this such a big deal? Since EVERYTHING there is GF, no worries about wheat contamination, but it goes beyond that. Now worries about contamination in the fryers, in the kitchen, etc. Eat and be worry-free!

The food was good but the pricing was a little much. I had a tiny panini,(with just cheese) and I mean a ¼ the Size of a normal panini with a small salad for around 12 $. Not impressed. My friend had the fried mac and cheese and loved it. The staff was very young, all seemed 19 and younger. They didn’t seam to know the menu or the specials. My friend went downstairs to read the special board, and a server told her there weren’t any specials. Guess he was unaware they had a specials standing chalk board at the entrance? Would be nice if they included crayons or something to help keep kids occupied while waiting for food.

I really really really wanted to give this new adorable restaurant in downtown Alpharetta a good rating! The atmosphere is amazing! Cute little pond with a tiny waterfall out front. The restaurant is an old historic house! Just loved it… However, the food, not so much. We ordered the wedge salad which came with very fatty bacon. The 9 dollar pimento cheese small plate that came with pieces of grilled bread and non-dippable peppers. The cheese topped with bacon jam was amazing but the greasy bread and peppers were weak. The peppers should have been carrot sticks and celery. This dish certainly wasn’t worth 9 dollars. On the flip side we had really great service. The staff seemed happy and knowledgable. There was a guy and his guitar which was a nice surprise to enjoy sitting outside on a random Wednesday evening. Needless to say, I’ll gladly be back for a glass of wine on a pretty evening. But that will be all.
