We have been taking our dog here for several years and he loves coming here as they treat him really well.
Staff is friendly and not pushy to add extra services or things our dog «may» need. The place is always clean and never smells like pets.

We adopted a cat recently and she had stopped eating and drinking for several days. We were pretty worried until we got her in to VCA to see Dr. Elmwood, who I must say is absolutely amazing. She was so nice, informative and sincere that my cat and I both fell in love with her work. She was able to get my cat to start eating again on her own and gave us a handful of tips & tricks to help us help our cat better in the future. Definitely going to her again any time our cat needs medical help and would highly highly recommend Dr. Elmwood for any of your veterinarian needs.

Very impressed with my first visit. I absolutely love this place. Fantastic hours and Dr. Turner is amazing. I was first acquainted with VCA at the Clackamas location, and I was thrilled to find one so close to home.

I cannot be thankful enough to VCA Rock Creek to the doctors, specially Dr. Pemberton, and their staff.
I brought in my dog (pug) due to a lacerated cornea and double eye infection after being boarded for 6 days at Central Bark and no one noticed anything.
My vet at that time (Vista Pet) was not able to see him, and I ended up at VCA.
Thanks to the doctors my dog has a healed eye. All of them took the time to explain, didn’t rush in during the appointment, did recommendations, answer all my questions, and were very caring and loving to my dog. Also the front desk staff was very nice, professional and efficient.
Now VCA Rock Creek has become my primary vet office.

I take my cats here for their checkups and to get their flea meds. Yesterday I had to quickly find a vet for my rat who had sudden paralysis in his legs and wasn’t drinking water and there was blood in his urine so I knew he didn’t have much longer. I called the office and they let me know they did euthanize rodents. I made an appointment for that day, arrived 15 minutes early and was taken back instantly. I had Dr. Robbins and he was very nice! He did a checkup on my baby and he told me that that the most likely causes were trauma or a tumor, just as I suspected. He let me know my other options such as xrays and blood work but he didn’t push it on me like other vets have done even knowing it won’t help. He was very kind about the entire procedure. I cried a lot and he gave me tissues and gave me time alone to get myself together. All in all a great experience for the worst thing ever. I’m glad I went here because knowing they care is a comfort. The price was also decent. All the other places I called were either booked, didn’t take rodents or were in the $ 100’s for the visit. This was $ 39. Not too bad when you’re poor and its an emergency. I highly recommend this vet!

Dr. Turner was great with my cat. Diagnosed his infection. Open Sundays. I called yesterday and got an appointment today. Staff were caring towards my cat and prices really reasonable. Loved it here.

I think I had a fairly good experience, but the doctor that performed surgery on my dog retired and didn’t let me know, which would have been helpful. My dog might need surgery again, or might need to have someone look at his past surgery, so having the doctor’s information would have been good. I don’t know how to explain what the doctor did or how to even get in touch with him now should something arise in the future, which it likely will with the breed of dog I have.

I have been going here for almost 7 years. I have two cats and one dog and they have all have received care here. I have been pretty happy with this place until this year. I won’t get into all of it because its a long drawn out story but here is the main reason I have revised my review.
They charge $ 60 for an exam. That is almost twice what they charge at other places and with three pets that is a ton of wasted cash. They never get you in on time for your appointments, plan on being called about 15 – 20 minutes late every time. Sometimes their lobby gets so crowded you can barely be in there if your animal is sick, it’s just too chaotic.
This is my main reason for the revised review. I have an old sick dog that they gladly ran a bunch of tests on, took my money and at the end of it they still could not tell me what was wrong with my dog. I dropped almost $ 800 in a week and saw no improvement to my dog. I felt totally taken advantage of and my dog did not improve. The doc didn’t even call to see how he was doing, maybe she prefers cats. Anyway, I think at some point vets should direct you to a place more concerned with keeping an aging dog comfy rather than running a bunch of expensive tests that tell you nothing. I also think before they refer a dog to a surgeon maybe they should consider mentioning acupuncture and chiropractic therapy for pain management. That was really all my dog needed, that 800 could have bought him a lot of comfort care.
I feel bad leaving this review because the people who work there are nice, I just think if you have an older pet they are clueless about care.

25 minutes past appointment time with very little acknowledgement from staff. Staff is all in conversation with themselves. May have to leave without the appointment.

This is my second time coming in with my 100 pound dog who gets alot of ear infections. No one wants to spend their day off waiting around at a doc’s or vet’s office AND spend a ton of money. The staff at rock creek helped me not just by figuring out the best meds that wont break the bank, but also a meal plan since my pup probably has allergies :(and it took an hour, that’s it.
So i will definitely be coming back next time something happens to one of my furry kids.

Absolutely the worst. Completely chaotic. Untimely. They do not do what they say they will do. Incompetent. etc. Oh but they’re really «nice». Incompetent. But «nice». IF that’s what you’re looking for in a vet when you take your dying baby there for help.
I took my little girl in. The vet said she was fine. I took her in a few days later again saying she is not «fine». They took x-​rays. They told me they didn’t know how to read them so they would have to get back to me with the results. They didn’t call when they said they would. I called. I waited for them to call me back. Again I waited. (I waited an hour in the waiting room the second time we went in.) Finally they called me back. The vet, Christine Brennan, gave me a bunch of vet jargon. I asked her what she thought was best. She asked me what I want to do. I asked for my options. Again, I asked her what she thought, since she is supposedly the professional. She hung up on me. I called to complain. I asked for a number for corporate. They gave me another woman, unannounced, who also shortly hung up on me. I gathered from these unproductive interactions, that they were trying to cover their butts. They dropped the ball and now my little girl is on death’s door. And all they care about is being seen as blameless. Let’s revisit the facts.
Went for the first visit — was told she was fine. That was not true. (She hadn’t pooped in a week. Of COURSE she wasn’t «fine»!)
Went in days later for the second visit — waited an hour for the vet and had an x-​ray but was told they don’t know how to read them so I’d have to wait some more.
Next day — no call as promised and when I hounded them, as I had to, they hung up on me.
Do they care about my little girl? Does corporate America care about ANYTHING other than the bottom line? No is the answer to both questions. Not my kind of place.
If my little girl dies due to their negligence, I WILL sue them! If I were you, I would steer clear of this money-​making machine. They don’t care about your sweetie. They just want your money.

A wonderful place for care. We saw Dr. Voorhees. He is amazing, thorough, patient, careful, and makes each family member feel special. Highly recommend his services.

Outstanding vets and technicians, best ever. Dr. Marsha Simon, and Lisa, the technician, helped us with our diabetic cat. Patience unending! Everybody on the staff is just terrific.

I have taken my cat here for the last 4 years for regular health checks, vaccinations, grooming, and a really bad skin allergy «emergency». I have always been very happy with the staff and veterinarians. I never once felt anyone was trying to sell me an expensive procedure, and were very comfortable working as best as they could within your budget. Animal health care is expensive I know they understand that.
My cat has always been in good health and I never had any health scares until 2 years ago. He is a long haired cat and normally enjoys a nice brush out. However, one day he became very aggressive, biting me and howeling when I tried to brush along his back. I immediately stopped and gently touched the area I was brushing, and he snapped at me a few times. I tried as best as I could to inspect the area and the skin appeared red with more dandruff than normal. I immediately called VCA Rock Creek and they were able to see my cat the same evening. The vet diagnosed him with a skin allergy, likely due to a severe adverse reaction to a flea bite (he’s an indoor only cat and was not on preventatives). So I left with a modest bill, anti-​inflammatory medication, and some assurance that it will heal with time. Unfortunately 2 days later, I was back because the condition of my cat’s skin became severe (small patches of hair fell out, the skin was bloody, broken, and beginning to form scabs). It was definitely the most difficult experience for me in my cat’s long and happy 12 years. He was in pain. I could pet him. I couldn’t help him.

My 11 year cat, Dasani was making frequent trips to the litterbox last week — my husband was observing her behavior. After reading reviews on where to take her, I decided on Rock Creek Veterinary Hospital. We were assigned Dr. Christine Brennan — I was very pleased with how she interacted with Dasani and helped me feel at ease. Dasani had never experienced an UTI before, so it was a little unnerving for her as well as for me. Dr. Brennan was very informative about the steps that would be taken to find the diagnosis — she was upfront with the cost of the testing, which made me feel more confident with the process. My overall experience here was very positive. I didn’t have to wait long (10 minutes) to be taken back to see the Dr. Very friendly staff. Thank you for getting my Dasani back onto her 4 paws and meowing happily once again :)

I came here to get my dog vaccinated since we just moved to the area and I am very pleased we chose this vet! The people are the front desk were very helpful with my 2 year old daughter when she didn’t want to come inside with me. They made her feel welcome and helped me with my dog while I dealt with my daughter. The wait time was very short and the vet was very nice! We saw Dr. Simon and she was very nice and helpful.
My dog needs grooming regularly and they were able to tell me that they have a groomer on site and got me appointment for the same week! The groomer did a great job and it was done in a timely manner. We are happy to have found a great vet AND groomer in the same place! We plan on coming here for a long time!

Like many pet parents, I was very nervous about finding a new Vet for my babies.
I wanted to find one that was close to home, and had extended hours. I found that this VCA (Rock Creek) clinic is open until 10 pm and that impressed me, so I gave them a call.
I spoke to a lovely gal on the phone named Carrie. She was FABULOUS! She was patient, well spoken and really seemed to know her stuff. She calmed me and made me feel at ease, and pretty sure that my babies would be well taken care of. She even told me about the new patient free exam offer, which saved me $ 45 off my dog’s wellness exam, AND she made me aware of the free exam for cats, so I was able to save $ 56 off my cat’s wellness exam!
They were able to schedule me an appointment that same evening! Love that!
My dog, Zoe, saw Dr. Shinagawa (I really hope I’m spelling that correctly. She was wonderful. A calming presence, Dr. Shinagawa. was very thorough and spent a good deal of time going over my many concerns. Unlike a lot of vets, (and people docs!) who try to get in and out of the exam room as quickly as possible, Dr. S. was very patient with us. She recommended a skin scraping be done to determine if Zoe had a bacterial infection. To my pleasant surprise, this procedure was under $ 30 and took mere minutes to complete. We left with two medications for Zoe’s ills — Comfortis (for fleas) and Simlicef (for the bacterial infection that said fleas caused. The next day, I received a call from a technician, asking if Zoe was doing ok. She was. The meds worked! After trying several over the counter solutions, I was very glad that I broke down and took Zoe to VCA Rock Creek. They treated both of us very well and made us feel very comfortable.
A couple of days later my husband and I brought in our cat, Widget, who was seen by another doctor, Dr. Robbins. He was also a very calming presence, very knowledgeable and made us feel at ease. Widget seemed to like him too. We left with a flea medication and an antibiotic for a bothersome infection that Widget keeps encountering in her nail beds. Dr. Robbins discussed advanced diagnostic procedures (blood and urine panels) but never pressured us into committing to going that path. I told him that I felt that a course involving trying antibiotics and then, if they don’t work, moving forward with lab work, would be my preferred procedure and he was ok with that!
Both of our furry babies are feeling better now, and we would like to thank: Carrie (front desk) Amanda (clinician) and Drs. Shinagawa and Robbins, as well as the entire staff. We’ll be back! :)

Everything went smoothly! The appointment was fast yet personable. The entire staff was polite, and not a ton of annoying upselling or pressure to buy extras via «YOUR DOG WILL DIE» threats. Of course they suggested certain things but it was strictly informative and they let you make the final decision without judgment (as it should be).
I was originally going to take our pooch to a shot clinic so I wouldn’t have to deal with all the «salespeople» but shot clinic hours around here are pretty random. A great thing about Rock Creek is that they’re open 7 days a week! Their hours are so convenient.
The vet, Dr Voorhees, was totally down-​to-​earth with a mellow energy. Our pup (happens to be shy) warmed up to him very quickly.
Overall everything was just great.

As a new fur-​mom I initially took my pup to Sunset Animal Clinic because I have family that rave about their service. After the first couple of times there I knew that Dr. Fred’s condescending tone and ridiculously high prices were not for me. I came to Rock Creek looking for a caring staff that genuinely enjoys the company of animals and their owners, and I am pleased to say that I have been incredibly happy with the the doctors, techs, and entire staff.
They are the opposite of pretentious, and never push extra treatments/​medications. The front staff is very professional and nice and the techs/​doctors are always incredibly candid and honest when it comes to care for our animals. After my dog was stung by a bee they were able to fit us in during a busy evening and gave her a shot to help with the swelling, and gave us instructions about what to watch for in order to make sure that she wasn’t having any other adverse reaction. Their hours are great and they will fit you in if there’s an emergency. There are several doctor’s on staff, and all have been great in my experience.
We’ve come here for four years now, I completely trust this clinic with my animals’ care and look forward to coming here for many years.

Dr Brennan solved a dental-​related problem with our cat that others were unable to solve, and she did it in a straightforward manner and, for what I know, at a fairly reasonable price. If that’s not worth 5 stars, I don’t know what is.
Long story short, our cat was suffering from a raw and inflamed throat, and our regular vet (whom we know and trust) was having a hard time solving the issue. It could be one of a few things, and after a visit or 3 and some initial steroid treatment wasn’t doing the trick, he referred us to Dr. Brennan as a feline dentist and expert on all things oral. One visit to her confirmed his suspicion that our kitty was suffering from stomatitis, a form of gingivitis that affects the throat area, and can be caused by a myriad of things including FIV (we tested — negative), feline herpes, and a bunch of other stuff. During our initial visit, which lasted quite a long time, the Dr. went over all the options with me, but suggested pulling his molars as the most direct route to solving the issue.
The last thing I wanted to do was pull my cat’s teeth.
I went through all of the less-​permanent options with her, and she agreed that there were numerous possibilities that included a teeth cleaning session, laser treatments, a bunch of visits, a bunch of money… but said that in her experience with cats in this stage of stomatits (he had been suffering for a couple of months at this point) that the majority of cases ended in tooth pulling anyway (a cleaning would help, but it would just come back), and that not only was it the least expensive way to go, but on a time-​and-​pain-​and-​suffering scale (for the cat), it was the least intrusive. Little did I know that cats can still eat dry food after you pull the teeth. And no way in hell was I going to brush my cat’s teeth every day. I’d end up with no fingers!
Opting to avoid unnecessary procedures, costs, and vet visits for our cat who HATES the vet and whose condition was partially onset from stress, we went with the tooth pull, and… problem solved. After months of vet visits, daily steroid and antibiotic shots, drama, trauma, and an untold shitload of cash, we found someone that solved the problem in one fell swoop. A week of healing, another week of tender jaws, quite a few hundred dollars later, and bam…
Happy kitty (well, only so happy — he’s pretty grumpy by nature as it is).
What impressed me (other than solving what to date had been a mystery) was the Dr’s willingness to talk it through with me. She patiently answered all my questions, weighed all the options, took time to understand where I was coming from and what I needed, and gave me honest options with solid predictions. Often vets (not mine, fortunately) are on the clock (understandable) and just want to tell you what they think and push you out of the room. Dr. Brennan looked me in the face and addressed me as a person, rather than an hourly appointment. That’s worth its weight in gold.
