This is definitely one of my favorite bakeries in Boston. I’ve tried several of their pastries, including the ham and cheese, chocolate, and spinach croissants(which are all delicious) as well as the choco weggli and berliner; there isn’t anything I’ve tried that I wouldn’t recommend. Their kagi bars are small but delicious and their muesli is a must-try; I’ve ordered it every time I’ve visited. In some ways it’s similar to a fruit parfait, but in my opinion is slightly creamier and has much more flavor and better textures — just get it now and thank me later.

Was just here at 6PM. The door was locked, even though the ‘Open’ sign was still lit up, and the store was supposed to be open until 6:30. I’m disappointed in the service. I saw several employees still inside, choosing to ignore me at the door.

This place has gone downhill lately. I’m not sure why but it’s sad and unfortunate. Today four of us came per usual for lunch to this place. The employees forgot to include cheese in my friend’s sandwich, so upon his complaint just gave him a slice of cheese(unmelted). They forgot a tomatoes for my sandwich, and for another friend they gave her a small when she asked for a large(they told her she ordered a small, she has been coming here for 3 years ordering large sandwiches, I think she would know what she ordered). My fourth order asked for dijon on the side and received mayo on the sandwich. When they mess up four orders in a row, maybe some compensation is in order, instead of telling each of us that we actually didn’t order what we thought that we did? And now they started charging for extra cucumbers, tomatoes, etc? By trying to make an extra 25 cents here and there you end up with frustrated customers who don’t return. Luckily they still give out tap water(although in such tiny cups). Not sue if this is under new management, but here is a free tip: When your employees are making a lot of mistakes, they should apologize and compensate the hungry customer somehow, not offer them individual pieces of tomatoes and cheese & ask them to build their own sandwich. I might as well just make my sandwich at home.

There were four of us. My friends and I visited Boston, and we liked this place when we drove by. So we decided to stop here and try this spot out. The staff was nice and attentive. I ordered bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and cup of cappuccino, and for dessert my friends and I shared few donuts with raspberry jam. The food was pretty good. I liked this place and I will reccomend this spot.

Pastries are good but the drip coffee is surprisingly delicious. It’s rare bakers have such delicious drip.

I’ve lived down the street from this god foresaken dump for years, and have repeatedly made the unforgivable mistake of stopping in for breakfast or coffee. Don’t even consider getting an espresso drink. I’ve ordered an iced americano and watched the barista pour a shot in a cup and fill it with water. THEREWASNOICE! They recently hung posters that read«introducing the breakfast sandwich» as if they came up with the brilliant idea of putting bacon and eggs on a sandwich. There are no options for your pre-made scrambled egg bacon and Swiss sandwich aside from small or large. When I tried to create my own, the cashier said I couldn’t do that. Brunch is $ 15. NOTHANKYOU.

Breakfast sandwich had microwaved eggs and overcooked bacon. Pretzel bread is yummy though and tastes like it was made fresh. Museli was also good but probably because there’s whipped cream in it. Service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes for my sandwich — I know because the receipt has a time stamp. Cook was pissy when I asked about it 15 minutes in. Overall, disappointing experience.

The owners and the staff are so lovely here. It feels like the bakeries I used to frequent in my neighborhood in a small town in France(I know this is a Swiss place, but I think they feel very similar). Unpretentious and delicious. Get their croissants(savory or sweet) when they are warm– better than any I’ve had in Harvard square!

The food at this place is great. They make good coffee. The owner and the staff are very friendly. If you have small kids, this place is surprisingly kid friendly with spacious indoor seating and a play area outside.

Good prices. Great baked goodies. Delicious pretzels. I LOVE the hot croissants, specifically ham and Swiss. Clean Place. The staff is great, helpful, kind, attentive… The staff might be the best part and the food is great, so that says something.

Swissbakers is a Swiss style bakery and café that is an ideal place to study and work. They sell different kinds of breads and rolls(e.g., Challah, Pajazzo, Mini Swirl, Energy Roll, and Choco Weggli), berliners and croissants, cookies(e.g., Linzer, Leckerli, Macarons, Prussien), cakes and tarts, pretzels(e.g., Pretzel, Pretzel Baguette, Pretzel Stix, Pretzel Roll) and quiche(e.g, Bacon, Spinach, Veggie, Cheese). While doing some work at Swissbakers, I was munching on a Raspberry Filled Berliners and assorted French macarons and sipping on a hot Earl Grey tea(with raw sugar and ½ & ½). The Berliners looked like a donut but tasted like a churro filled with raspberry jam and dusted with powdered sugar. I might have let my Earl Grey tea steep too long so it was a bit strong. I liked the Lemon & Raspberry, Mango & Coconut, and Earl Grey macarons :)

I was so excited to try this place, but left pretty disappointed. My siblings and I came at around 3:30PM on a weekday. There wasn’t a great variety of breads to choose from. As I was thinking about trying the chocolate weggli, I noticed some gnats lingering around one of then. I mentioned it out loud to my brother so that the worker could hear me. It landed on it several times and the worker just swatted the gnat away. I still decided to give it a chance by trying something else so I went with the raspberry berlinger. Unfortunately, the texture of the berlinger was dry and stiff. It tasted as if it had been sitting out since 6am. This was a huge disappointment. I guess I will try it earlier in the morning, but I would avoid it after 10am if you want pastries

I go here far too often but once you go in you’ll understand why. You enter during«guest hugging hours» also know as the hours of operation, and are greeted by some of the happiest looking people I have ever seen. Then you look and you see it … An entire half of the counter is delectable pastries. You can’t resist especially when the magical sample tray is out. I don’t even know what I am eating sometimes but I want to moan it’s that delicious. Seriously though the pastries are the beginning because they have lunch and breakfast of a more savory nature. Anything from deli sandwiches on hand crafted breads to fully entrees! My only reservation is that the coffee is hit or miss. Sometimes so bitter I can’t stand it but other times really blissfully perfect and dark. Go here but be prepared for the addiction and the fact soon they will know your name and hold full conversations with you that just draw you in more. It’s more than food. It’s the type of friendliness you want everywhere you go!

Came here on a Friday ~4pm with the intention of getting a berliner, which I’ve heard good things about. They were sold out :(Got a fruity cake per staff recommendation. Basically a white cake, with some white cream frosting, and layers of fruit on top. Looked like and tasted like those fruit cakes you can buy at a(sub)standard grocery store. Meh

Plain, pricey and underwhelming. Not recommended for gluten free folks(should have known with the whole«baker» in the restaurant name thing). But still. Got a coffee and bag of small macaroons on a Sunday. Coffee was okay but the macaroons were very stale and too sweet. My total was $ 9. The pastries did look good, and there is a lot of parking which is a plus. Also, the wifi was easy to get on. That’s always a major upshot. Maybe I’ll try again sometime when in the area.

I go here all the time. Incredible service, great quality food, and an awesome blend of familiar and exotic pastries. My favorites are the ham and cheese croissant and the brunch special.

2.5 stars. Located near the Harvard Business campus, Swissbakers seems like a lunch spot for any students looking for a quick meal. I agree with other reviews that say it’s atmosphere is very«generic». No personality whatsoever… I ordered the tuna sandwich with pesto, lettuce, pickles and tomatoes on a pretzel baguette. The bread wasn’t as delicious as I was expecting. Apparently the bread is all freshly made, but it didn’t really taste like it… Fillings were okay. I’d compare this place to a Subway. Affordable sandwiches big enough to satisfy your hunger but not much else than that. I did like the pastry and bread display so I bumped it up half a star.

Popped into Swissbäkers earlier today to grab a snack and some coffee on our way into town, with the wife. We had driven by the place possibly hundreds of times without giving it a second thought but today was finally the day. We pulled into their ample parking lot and walked in. It was around 3:30PM and it wasn’t very busy. A few tables were occupied but we had to take everything to go. Having lived for just over a year and a half in Basel myself, I was looking forward to snacking on an authentic Swiss pastry. Having perused their website a little while ago, I was expecting most of their stuff to be available but unfortunately the selection was pretty meagre. I was able to buy a Swiss Linzer, which was delicious and the wife box a little bag of their chocolate-covered macaroons which she liked but said were too sweet. The coffee was average at best. Unfortunately I didn’t see any of their Leckerli or Prussien, or even chocolate Wegglis. I didn’t see any of their breads either but they did have a ton of savory items. The service behind the counter was slow, not all that friendly and they made us walk on the opposite side to pay, and then all the way back around to get our items. It was very confused. I’d like to give them another shot at some point in hopes that they’ll redeem themselves because this business is unique and family-owned and I would love to see this place thrive.
