Sandcastle

Sandi and Dan did a wonderful job in protecting our precious little 1 year old from the steam radiators in our home with some beautiful covers. They came out to look and measure the job within a week of me calling them (on a Sunday!). After measuring Sandi told the next day we would have our units in a couple of weeks. During the fabrication, they came back to match some stain colors for our home, and to their word, the cabinets came right on time. A solid 8 weeks quicker than another company we’d met with.
Thank you Sandcastle for keeping our little guy safe, I can’t tell you how many compliments we’ve had in the first week they’ve been in our home.

Sandcastle did a phenomenal job with the cover they made for my small studio. There’s not a ton of space so the radiator stuck out like a sore thumb. Now the piece I have covering it looks like it was always meant to be there! Craftsmanship was top notch and they were communicative throughout. Highly recommend.

They made three very difficult-​to-​get-​to cover for the radiator in my condo, and I LOVE what they did. I already had one particular style radiator cover that I had made elsewhere (Quality is not as good), and I wanted the rest of them to match that. Sandi and her husband went above and beyond to measure, and fit– which included multiple trips. I am more than impressed. Their price is very competitive elsewhere, and considering they come out, measure, and custom fit the covers, they are worth every penny. One of the radiator ended up being too crazy for traditional styled cover, and the controller had to be cut (it was protruding out taller, and at that height, it would’ve hit the drawers). Sandi made me a custom lid that will cover that ugly controller that sticks out of the cover, and now I don’t have to cringe whenever I see ugly radiators now.
I am in a process to get them to make me a built in dog house for my window nook, and I cannot wait.

I called Sandi, and she contacted me right away. She then came to measure my radiators and showed me lots of her work. She gave me several options — different types of wood, different colors/​stains, different ways to make the covers (wooden slats, string, etc). She was meticulous when it came to staying in touch about the colors she was staining the wood and left samples so I could see a sample of what I had asked for.
From pictures I had seen, I was confident the radiator covers would be quite nice, but I did not expect them to be absolutely gorgeous pieces of furniture — and they were! (Despite other reviews here which pointed me to her in the first place!) I could not be happier.
One big concern of mine (because of our 9 month old) was the chemicals in stains and paints and even typical particle board. Sandi used all solid oak in our covers and a stain (on one) and paint (on the second cover) with no VOCs. Completely nontoxic, which is exactly what I wanted. (Another reviewer mentioned this, which is the reason I went right to Sandi and didn’t try anyone else — so I wanted to mention it as well, should anyone else be concerned about it!)
Really, I could not have asked for better service or a better product. The words next to the five star Unilocal rating sum it up: «Woohoo! As good as it gets!»

Sandi and Dan are not only extremely talented, they are honest, hard working, and very pleasant to work with. They just made 4 radiator covers for our new home and they all came out lovely. As a team, they are a perfect combination with Dan being the perfectionist carpenter and Sandi the dedicated artist. Sandi and Dan came to our house multiple times to take measurements and ensure that the covers fit perfectly. Towards the end of the project, I requested a few last minute changes, and they could not have been more accommodating. They really worked with our schedule to make the timing of their visits to our home work and not be intrusive. Their pricing is excellent. They are committed to making products that are non-​toxic and kid friendly; this was of particular importance to us with two little ones in our home. I am glad that I found them and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to «build stuff» for their home.

Our new (well old) house had ugly radiators everywhere. It also made it near impossible to buy furniture since nothing would line up on my walls. Sandi was so helpful from the beginning. I am very eco friendly and extremely picky with furniture — I wanted all solid wood, no pressed particle board and zero voc paints. Sandi was so accommodating (all of their work is solid hard wood and non toxic!!!) and really took time to address my concerns. Now we not only have 6 radiator pieces (one of which is a gorgeous buffet piece in my dining room that all my guests gush over), but we have asked Sandi to do custom baseboards for my whole upstairs. I will definitely come to Sandcastle for all my future wood working needs!!! They are the best and their pieces are beautiful and well made.

All of my business fixtures and most of my personal and favorite furniture pieces are Sandcastle. I cannot recommend them enough for custom pieces made exactly to fit all wishes and needs. They have fun creating it and it shows. Sandi and Dan are unbeatable team of artistic design meets superior craftsmen ship.

I had a problem. I had the ugliest radiator in the world. After contacting Sandi and her partner, they came to my place for an onsite consultation. They are both so friendly and helpful and showed me a slew of work they had already done. Sandi and her partner are so hands on. They sent me fabric swatches and really worked to please my requests. The end result was an absolutely magnificent radiator cover that looks like an expensive piece of furniture and they even made it match existing pieces to match the environment. I HIGHLY recommend them and I am sure I will be using their services again!

Like many condos/​apartments in the Boston/​Brookline area, our condo is in an old brownstone walk up. We love the character of living in an older building and worked hard to keep the character when remodeling and decorating with a contemporary style. We take pride in our home and how we have furnished and decorated it, but did not know what to do with our radiators until we found Sandcastle. Sandi and Dan made a custom solid oak radiator cover for us, as we were in urgent need of a childproofing solution. The cover is beautiful and matches our existing woodwork perfectly, not to mention built with solid craftsmanship.
