Pretty good. Go to thai food spot in Allston/Brighton. Coconut soup and basil pad thai are excellent

I am traveling with a band that is playing the Brighton Music Hall. I started walking around and pulled out Unilocal and popped in. I ordered Green Curry with Tofu. The food came super quick and was delicious. Just the right amount of heat! The survive was super friendly and prompt. Highly recommend.

S & I Thai is a great place for takeout after getting back from a long day at work. I’ve always had a pleasant experience picking up food here as the staff are friendly. While not extravagant, S & I makes quite tasty food. I recommend Basil Pad Thai and Duck Chili.

Used to go here all the time until they were cited for health violations in September. Very sad, I cannot go back.

Been to other places in Boston, and have been to Thailand as well. This is easily the best Thai restaurant in Boston. Get the pad ga pow, and pad cashew, and if you dare, ask for extra spicy – they’ll actually make it Thai spicy for you!

others may have a different experience but here was mine: call and order take out at 2PM — 10 – 15 minutes they say. Show up at 2:15, told itll be right out. 2:45 rolls around and Im slightly annoyed and I say that I need to go back to work because my lunch break is almost over. The woman at the counter puts her phone down and goes back to the kitchen. Comes out with my food in like 2 minutes. Which is nice but like, what? get back to work, excited to scarf down the food before my break is over. Food is cold. Food is not what i ordered. Suddenly it comes back to me — why I had forsaken this supposed gem: a year ago, i found a metal wire in my pad tai and vowed never to return. well apparently, im a glutton for punishment. for all you masochists out there: 5⁄5. would inflict pain on self with. for everyone else, go somewhere else.

For $ 7 Lunch Special which includes soup, an appetizer, and a noodle/rice dish, you absolutely can’t go wrong with this place. The service has always been nice and quick here, both with pick up sitting down. The place is definitely small and ideal for small lunch/dinner dates with only one other person, but I have seen groups as large as six people fit comfortably and enjoy their dinner here. For those concerned about the Boston Eater article regarding health violations, I would be willing to bet S&I Thai is not the only place with a rodent issue in Allston. After all, it is Allston. I’ve been going here for years and will continue to do so!

I’ve been here a few times and ordered take out a couple of other times. I always get the Bangkok chicken fried rice, it’s just plain and simple fried rice and yet so tasty.

8 bucks and some change for a bowl of coconut milk and tamarind broth tom kha goodness, fried crab dumplings with sweet and sour sauce, and a mound of pad thai. You definitely won’t leave hungry or unsatisfied. S&I is a hole in a wall joint that seats roughly 12 people, so take out is their main business.

I’ve been coming to this place on a weekly basis for the past 2 years — it is amazing! I order the dinner special: chicken pad ki mow with Tom yum soup and chicken wings. It is the best Thai place ever.

You guys might want to read recent article on universal hub regarding this place. Didn’t pass recent inspection due to cockroaches and vermin. Eat at your own risk!!!

The place is TINY! There are about five tables which solidify this place as a hole-in-the-restaurant with a strong take-out following. However, I strongly encourage people to eat-in here as Thai food always tastes the best when made fresh. One of the best thai places I have had and I have been to many in Boston. I strongly suggest the Thai Chicken wings, they don’t skimp on them and they are high in flavor and spice. The food here is spicy so make sure you let your server aware of how spicy you want the food. I personally recommend the Ka Gra Pow, which is ground chicken cooked with Thai spices over a bed of rice. Tom Yum Soup is fantastic too! I can’t wait to come back!

S&I Thai is definitely my favorite Thai place in Boston. I tried only Massaman Curry and Pad ki mow, but I have no doubt other dishes would be great as these two I tried so far. Masaman curry Combination of curry paste and peanut sauce was amazing. I don’t really prefer potato with any types of dish, however this was great. The chunks of hot potato was tasty and suits well with other ingredients. Chicken was tender and moist as always. Whenever I go to S&I, I have trouble deciding what to order because all seems so delicious. I am planning to try all one by one.

I LOVE S&I! I’m telling you, it’s so cheap and delicious that it doesn’t make sense. But please don’t charge more S&I management: X All of my Thai friends(straight from Thailand too, I must add) all declare S&I as the most authentic place in Boston for Thai cuisine. You’ll definitely see things on the menu and on the restaurant’s walls that you won’t find anywhere else in Boston. Some things are the thousand year’s eggs dish and the pad gra pow. They label this under«Authentic Specialties» so just pick one and enjoy the new flavors. I haven’t ventured into their yummy looking noodle soups yet but I definitely will once I get sick of ordering the dry foods. But seriously, I’m not sure when that will happen. ALSO if you are a spice lover like myself please do not walk in there and ask them to make the som tum(papaya salad) or any dish for that matter, «as spicy as possible». They will kill your spice buds with their 10+ bird’s eye chilies and laugh at you behind the counter… The normal amount of 3 – 4 should be MORE than enough for ANY spice lover. Okay, now go go go go and make a visit for yourself!

Love this place! I get take out from here every time I am in the neighborhood. This place is really small, more for take out, but there are about five tables if you want to eat there. I have eaten there once and must say that their lunch special wins hands down for their portion and price. Seriously… it beats lunch/dinner specialties at other Thai restaurants in the area. This is definitely my go to place for Thai food. They have the best pad thai, basil pad thai, drunken fried rice, and tom yum noodle soup. They also have a seperate Thai menu, which is called authentic specialties on their online menu. I recommend that, too.

Along a strip of many small, casual ethnic restaurants, S & I Thai is a solid option for quick, cheap, and flavorful bites. Menu is extensive with plenty of noodle, curry, and protein(poultry, beef, pork, seafood) options. Spicy string beans, in a creamy red curry sauce, are of course heavy on the vegetables, also including pepper and snow peas. Cashews and peanuts round out the texture of the dish. Served with a side of rice or noodles. Duck Choo Chee comes with a very similar sauce as in the spicy string beans. Plenty of vegetables(tomato, mushroom, pepper, onion), pineapple, and Thai basil with a small amount of tender duck. The variety in consistency of vegetables, pineapple, and duck make this a complex and interesting dish. Other options include the dinner specials where you can pair a noodle or curry dish with your choice of soup(get Tom Kha) and appetizer(get Gyoza dumpling). For the truly adventurous, try pad ga pow moo krob with crispy pork and peppers in a spicy Thai basil sauce. One of the spiciest dishes(three stars) this reviewer has sampled. Note that S & I has dishes with up to five stars.

The Pad Thai was AMAZING! I got it in the dinner special with Crab Wontons and the Tom Ka Soup and was surprised at how cheap everything was. Although it was all good, I would have been happy with just the Pad Thai, because it was delicious and a massive portion of food.

WHAT A DEAL. Got amazing pad thai, soup and dumplings for like $ 6 for the lunch special. Food was clean tasting, flavorful and plentiful. My friend got the coffee made with ice and condensed milk — don’t know what it’s called, but it’s amazing — although it’s probably a one way ticket to diabetes city.

Its confusing to look at Thai menu since everything looks yummy. We ordered curry chicken, pad tai shrimp(it’s like everyone think of Thai food is pad tai), spicy fried chicken and spicy papaya salad and tom yum soup. The spicy deep fried chicken are pretty tasty with sweet and sour flavor and papaya salad is authentic and spicy. So are pineapple curry chicken and Pad Tai. I heard their spicy thousand years old eggs is a signature; I might need some courage to try the dish though. Price is cheap and I’m not surprised its popularity.

I love this restaurant. The only place that I love to get some Thai food. It is by far the best Thai food I have ever tried. The second best place is at Brookline. But I love the food here. I usually get the yellow curry with pineapples and tofu. It is a very inexpensive price. The Tom Ka soup is delicious. Their fried chicken wings are just delicious!!! It isn’t like Bön Chon’s refried chicken wings. I usually get the combination orders! A lot of their fried noodle dishes are tasty. There is a Thai restaurant next door and it doesn’t taste good. Their fried fish is good, their marinated boiled eggs are good! It is just a shame that this place is so tiny! Only 4 tables. Most people take out but I love to eat in there. Their Thai tea is the best too!!! If this place was bigger they would make more business. If they ever decide to move to a bigger location, I will be there all the time. Highly recommended for people to try especially I’m an extremely picky eater. I don’t eat anything and say it’s good. I recommended my Indonesian friend and he even thinks that the Tom Ka soup is very authentic unlike other restaurants that watered it down.

First of all I have ordered here before with no issues at all but after I ordered last night I am VERYCONCERNED with their food preparation! Ordered a bunch of food last night and after eating some of the Larb kai I ended up biting into a rock, well actually it looked like a piece of asphalt pavement. Needless to say this was disturbing. I was really hungry so I was like ehh why not just eat the other stuff. Then I started to eat the chicken, RAW. Come on now guys?! Really? I called S&I Thai and they started to laugh on the phone and try to say that it was a piece of rice in my food. NO this is not rice, and they asked if I wanted another one. I just want them to look into why my food had a piece of asphalt in it, it was literally mixed in with the food. The communication was terrible and they did not take this complaint seriously at all. Looking for a Vietanmese translator to speak to ownership regarding the issue I had last night since I was told they did not speak English last night when calling. If you get this, please email or call me ASAP. Take a look at the pictures and you decide what this was. Seems pretty clear to me.

I am VERY picky about my Thai food… especially when it comes to Pad Thai. I tried S & I by chance because they delivered, I was starving and it had good reviews. THEFOOD: I ordered the Spicy Tofu Pad Thai and on first bite I was coughing and started slightly sweating from the spice. But after I stopped being so dramatic it went away and tasted great! I always add vegetables to my Pad Thai so I was happy to see a cooling little salad in the corner and some other veggies. The bf ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken and Shrimp and ate the whole thing in about 3 minutes so I guess that speaks for itself. It did have big chunks of chicken that looked better than the weird cubes you see sometimes. We also ordered the Crab Rangoons which are good. You can’t really go wrong with something deep fried with cream cheese and a dipping sauce. However I DIDNOT like the veggie pancake. It was really doughy inside and I guess I was expecting something a little thinner and not so slimy when I bit into it. DELIVERY: They usually say an hour but always come before that. So if you are starving it’s a really good thing! I have never been to the actual restaurant but order from here often.
