I got the grilled chicken sub and chocolate shake. The sub had next to no lettuces a mediocre amount of meat(the cheap meat you find anywhere) and was more bread than anything. The shake tasted like defrosted fudge pops and came mostly liquidy. If i had to be positive it was that it was relatively cheap and was delivered quick enough. Not worth it over all.

Great for a little corner store. Quick hot fresh to-go food. Decent prices for what you get. Empanadas are delicious. Pastas are overpriced though.

Amazing mozzarella sticks! Their Caesar wrap was ok there was just way too much bread for the wrap. Would be much better with a pita wrap instead. The delivery was fast arriving just after 40 min of the order being placed.

Beef chacarero was delicious! «Beef» was like thinly sliced steak, buttery and seasoned well.

Great value than what I paid. Chacarero and Empanadas are great. It opens till 2am, after all bars’ kitchen around here are close. I come here almost every week, but only takeout as I heard delivery guys are so slow.

Unfortunately, this place has greatly disappointed. Have always loved their food, but placed an order at 10pm tonight, and 2 hours later, still no order. Order was simple, small mozzarella sticks and Greek salad. Called the store multiple times, they could not get in contact with their driver or provide an update of any sort. Very disappointed — please make a change in your delivery staff and work on your customer service. 2 hours with no show is not how delivery should work. Still starving, way past dinner time :(

A small cozy place. Very good food, great prices. Good for takeaway or if you’re meeting a friend or two, but probably not suitable for groups. They make the food after you order it so it takes some time, but it’s always fresh and tastes good. The staff speak English and Spanish.

I gotta say, this is the best Empanada I’ve ever had in my life. I am normally not so generous with praising foods and restaurants, but I have to say, empanada here are just amazing. I decided to get two empanadas, a spinach and a cheese, around 9 pm. They started to make them(not just heating the already made ones) after I ordered. They said it will take about ten minutes, but It does not take that much time, well at least I felt so much quicker. Both empanadas were all freshly baked. The shell was perfect, perfect thickness, hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Fillings were satisfying as well. They were never stingy with the fillings. I only had two flavor tonight, but I am willing to try other flavors as well. To be honest, I was very close to rush out and get some more right after I finished these two.

Absolutely love this place. The mushroom empanadas are delicious and the Hispanic menu is as authentic as it gets(taste like a home-cooked meal).

First time stopping into this joint(late night), and first off I really like the atmosphere. I ordered a calzone, and it was ready fast and delusious. That perfect cheesyness. Which is even more appreciated because it’s the only place open right now after you get out of the bars. I would definitely come here again.

The food is so great! But its a definitely more of a TAKEOUT than a DINEIN! The menu is long and everything on it is delicious. They really serve anything that you could possibly be in the mood for. The food tastes like good, hearty, home cooked meals and you will find yourself constantly craving their empanadas!

After almost vowing not to get late delivery to my place in Allston(especially in the vein of pizza/calzones), I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with my recent order from La Mamma. I’ve been through a small share of late night delivery options in the Allston/Brighton/Brookline area and have been pretty disappointed. However, I took one final plunge since I was starving and craving a calzone. La Mamma gets my endorsement for sure. I ordered a chicken calzone and it was delivered still hot, in fact I sat it down for fifteen minutes and came back to it and was still decently hot when I began to eat it. The crust was a nice balance of chewy, crispy and doughy. The flavors of the ingredients were fresh(especially the cheese) albeit not super generous in quantity. I think what is also one of the great things La Mamma offers based on reviews and a couple of empanadas I sampled is their Latin food. Empanadas are more than reasonable and are super fresh. An excellent proportion of flaky pastry to warm delicious fillings. I’d definitely go for more of their food in this vein.

It’s been close to an hour and a half, and the restaurant keeps saying that the food is «10 minutes away». Yeah right. Worse, the manager said that they were«making an exception to deliver to me». Exception? I ordered via Unilocal/Eat24, and the restaurant clearly indicated that they deliver here — and now they’re trying to make it look like it’s my fault? Gimme a break. Cancelled my order and asked for a refund.

This place was a standard late night stop after stumbling out of the bars in Allston. Pizza is satisfying and cheap enough to be a good choice after a night out, but nothing I would go out of my way for. But then one night I wanted something spicy, and asked if he had any hot oil. He said no, but he had hot sauce. Ok, great, sign me up. I was expecting typical store bought hot sauce. Nope. This is delicious, homemade hot sauce. It is amazing, seriously. Garlicky, spicy goodness that made the mediocre pizza one thousand times better. Some people in my party were asking if they could buy bottles of it. So yeah, 4 stars just for the hot sauce. I’ll come back and try the empanadas soon!

When you find this type of hidden jewel/your favorite thing on the menu its utterly impossible to stay away from La mama. They have what’s called a «Chacarero» a rather oversized Chilean style sandwich with either chicken or steak. Discovering this place fairly early on circa pushing 6 years now the chacarero is a part of my diet about twice a month I needs thattt!!! The owners are terse with customers but with that reassures they are serious about their work and make room for no mistakes. Delivery online over estimates waiting time which is def a +. Thank you for not changing a classic, from your menu. PS by some energy in the world I met the developer of the bread part of the sandwich who use to work at La Mama, small world. Cheers

Only docking it a star for it’s unpredictability. Sometimes the dudes in there are great, sometimes not so much. But at the end of the day, you gotta love this place. My roommates and I frequent La Mamma, since it’s one of the best late night joints around town. From the empanadas(which have been raved about), to the chicken/broc/zita, this place has it all. Fun Fact: I’ve never gotten the pizza here. Or delivery. Also, they are pretty quick every time we’ve ordered.

Deliciousness Found in Grittiness Is it really possible to find something tasty in a place that looks gritty? This place is one example. The first time I came here, it was with a group of guys that I know after a Friday night of drinking some beers. A guy was craving for more food, and we ended up getting a pizza with pineapple slices on top. It was not a bad pizza, but it was definitely a mediocre pizza. The flavor of the crust was a little bland. This place’s specialty is actually not pizza, but cuisine from Spanish speaking countries in South America. I walked back in, and ordered a beef Chacarero, and a Empanada. A Chacarero is a sandwich originally from Chile, and it usually has meat, green beans and some sort of avocado sauce, somewhat similar to a Mexican Cemita. The bread of the Chacarero is actually excellent. It has a nice chewiness. The beef was juicy and had a pretty good flavor and was really tasty with the avocado sauce. The Chacarero is significantly better than the pizza they serve here. Their Empanadas are not bad. An Empanada is a fried dough pastry with meat inside. I got a Beef Empanada and it has a nice crispiness on the outside with a little greasiness, and the beef had a hot and nice chewiness on the inside. If you add a little spice, it can make the Empanada tastier. I would say that a couple of Empanadas are definitely better than the pizza they serve here. The interior definitely has this gritty look, and it gave me the feeling that I was not in Boston, but in the worst areas of the Bronx borough in New York. The people who run the place definitely have this demeanor that they do not like to get besmirched and one of the persons who work here has somewhat of a snide appearance. It is definitely one of the uncleanest places that serve food, but somehow they can keep the government inspectors happy. I guess to make your experience enjoyable, just order take away from this place and eat the food in the comfort of your own home. Overall, if you are looking for a great Chacarero or a decent Empanada, this is actually a great choice if you do not mind grittiness. I would not recommend this place to get pizza, as there are plenty of better pizza places in this neighborhood. Despite the look of this place, this place is one possible example to find some deliciousness in grittiness.
