Torchy’s Tacos

Best tacos I’ve ever had and great customer service! I was sweating because of the summer heat and their ac had broken down. The lady offered me two free drinks to quench my thirst! That was so nice of her, I love this place! I’m definitely coming here again :)

We ordered 4 monks to go — these are bacon and egg tacos. The bacon was way undercooked, and made the tacos difficult to eat.
I texted the number on the sticker on the bag. I half didn’t expect anyone to reply. Instead, I was surprised to get a reply, and the person on the other end said they appreciated the feedback, and if I gave my mailing address, they’d send me coupons for a replacement order.
I received the coupons in the mail this last Saturday, and look forward to giving Torchy’s Tacos another chance.

Great Taco place! One taco is big enough for 2 normal sized tacos (ask for extra tortilla) and they have secret menu. Love the cheese dip and breakfast tacos.

Food here has always been exceptional. Earlier this week we had the brushfire and avocado tacos which were really delicious. Street corn and the chips and Queso are must have side orders.

You pay for a better «taco».
More expensive than the other, popular Dallas, so called Taco Shops but you get more meat. Full tacos for full stomachs.
Crossroads BBQ Brisket Taco $ 4.25 was better than the competitors. Still a little dry but I would get it again. The smoky beef goodness shined through.
Green Chili Pork Taco $ 3.75 is great! Shred some moist and deliciously spiced pork then pour on som of their tomatillo salsa and you have a fantastic taco.
Frozen Marg, no salt was good. Especially when compared to the other shops.
The other, dime a dozen, taquerias offer free chips and salsa. Not here. Try the queso. It’s very popular.
Very friendly up front. Laughed and smiles all the way. Room for 72 inside with booths and tables with another 25ish on the patio.
After touring the Dallas areas taco shops who serve up a Tex-​Mex soft taco, not to be confused with a more authentic street taco, I must say I’m a little disappointed in what I’ve tried. Rusty’s is a bust with terrible service and dry, boring tacos. Fuzzie’s is just slightly behind Torchy’s who wins for the first moist pork I’ve seen.
Better than the others and good when you want a fast food taco that’s not from the Bell. I’ll stick to authentic, street tacos filled with barbacoa, cachete, tripas and adobada. Thank you for the experience.

Got here 15 minutes before lunch rush, because parking is bad at that time.
Service was very slow and they only had few people seated. Place was clean, but did I mention slow service???
The one girl server ran to each order out, while this super skinny tall young kid crawled to each order he served. I bet that by the time he made it to any table, the food was cold.
I ordered a tuna taco and the salmon both on corn tortilla. Finally after 25 minute I got my order. The tacos are good and they give you 2 corn tortillas, since one doesn’t hold well. They are big and price too.
Salmon was the best, the tuna was way over cooked, hard and dry.
Will try it again on a late lunch hour and try the beef and pork for an update.

While they only have 2 vegetarian taco options: fried avocado and the independent, both tacos are still very delicious. The portions of toppings in the taco definitely make it hard to keep it together but it’s still amazing. Definitely try the queso! You won’t be disappointed!

Torchy’s has marvelous tacos. Let’s get that perfectly clear. Their variety and innovative tacoism is truly remarkable.
What is also remarkable is the service of the To-​Go staff at the Allen location. I got the impression when I called this evening that the person to whom I was speaking was focused more on interjecting «Oh absolutely!“s, «Sure, sure, definitely! (chortle)“s, and feigning unassailable giddiness than actually listening to me. Was I correct? We shall see.
When I arrived to pick my up my order– which is a good idea at Torchy’s, by the way, because the dine-​in line is always extraordinarily long– the same chirpy chick who took my order was very busy serving all the guests except for me, especially the ones who were behind me. I am not the kind of person to make a scene in a restaurant but I did make it clear that I was in fact *there* by making constant and direct eye contact with her and standing less than three feet from her across the register counter. She adeptly avoided my presence by unwrapping and stacking about eight-​hundred cups and asking and re-​asking other customers of they would like hot sauce in their orders. At one point when she had nothing to do and could have easily turned to me and simply said, «Hi! (obnoxious giggle) What’s the name on the order,» she actually went to another register and took the orders of two, yes two, dine-​in customers. She did eventually squeeze me into her busy schedule and give me my order.
When I returned home I realized that the order had corn and flour tortillas mixed up on various tacos and was missing one taco entirely. My wife suggested that I call back and let them know but the thought of calling and speaking to the absent-​minded chucklefactory again seemed unworthy of further time spent. What is Torchy’s going to do? Have me drive back and apologize? It’s taco time. No time for anything else.
Listen people, eat at Torchy’s. It’s a kick-​ass taco joint. This is mostly for the possibility that management reads this. You know why people are never sure whether or not they should tip people who work the To-​Go register? This is why.
Normally I do.

My family dined there 3 weeks ago Sunday at 3pm. We had a less than decent experience. This is so unfortunate because we have always loved this restaurant.
The restaurant wasn’t clean and the drink station was completely void of lids and straws. I was surprised, since it was mid afternoon and not a lunch rush, and the reason we chose to eat at that time. The food runner brought out our tacos (7 of them) and as she passed through the door, she dropped one. Had she not had so many tacos stacked up her arms that would not have happened, IMO. She said she would put in another order, which was fine, mistakes happen. After we finished our meal we still had not received a replacement. So my husband went up to get a refund. The cashier didn’t apologize, nor did the runner who was right there when he explained what happened. Such poor service. We got our refund, left and then I went home and immediately submitted a complaint via their corporate website.
The following Saturday I received a call from the new manager. I was impressed. He apologized and thanked me for the detailed feedback. We had a very good conversation, and he said he’d hate to lose us as customers so he was going to send us some gift cards. Even more impressed!
Even with snail mail, we should have received something by now, it’s been over a week. I was happy with the phone call from the manager and would not have expected anything from him or the store, we got our refund at the time, but it’s a shame that he made a commitment and had no follow through.
Guess even though he’s a new manager to the store, as he informed me, we can not expect positive changes to be implemented.

I love their breakfast tacos! Their portions are very generous specially if you compare it to their price. I have a big appetite and I can usually eat my fair share. When eating here I usually order two tacos and three if I’m extremely hungry. I also like the atmosphere at this place. I’m also a fan of their chips and guacamole, it’s got a kick to it which is what I like,.I would also recommend their chips and queso I also give it two thumbs up.

After living in SoCal for nearly a decade, I’m a taco snob. These are by far the best taco I’ve ever had!

Ok. The food was just ok. My egg and sausage taco was tasty but lacked something. The corn as a side needed more heat. The cookie dessert was fantastic. I’m most disappointed by the service. The we rolling from the girl taking my order, the lady who dropped my food and was short with me when I asked about my dessert, the fact that after three times we finally got more chips. The water machine splayed all over. They were out of forks. This place is busy every weekend so they need to figure out how to run their ship before the novelty wears off.

I’m really a fan! First of all, I walk in and the hostess compliments me on my lipstick. We have small talk, she was really sweet. So that was a good sign. I love Mexican food… quick and delicious. I gave up meat for Lent, so I was nervous that I wouldn’t have many options to choose from, but boy was I wrong.
Let me say, these were some of the biggest tacos I’ve ever eaten. Full of flavor and fillings. My mom wanted a chicken taco, but these tacos were far from your ordinary chicken taco, from what I saw when she opened it. The Chicken Fajita and the Trailer Park. The Trailer Park looked SO GOOD on the menu, I’ll definitely be back to order that one after Easter. You got fried chicken, I was sold right there, topped with green chile, pico and cheese. Then, it doesn’t stop there. You can «get it trashy». When she said that, I was like, «‘Scuse me?» lol… basically, they take off the lettuce and add queso. OMG!
Now, the vegetarian in me, I loved all of my options, I went all in, got greedy and ordered the Migas, the #2 Breakfast Taco (potato, egg & cheese) and The Independent. They were all really good, full of deliciousness, but my favorite was the #2 and The Independent. The fried portabella mushroom strips were so meaty, really added to the substance of the taco. I added this creamy, green salsa to all of my tacos and I was muy bueno.
Side Note to all of this… before you dig into the tacos, I know it’ll be tempting not to, but order a starter of the green chile queso and chips. IT will change your life!

Another fab Torchy’s location. Since I was alone, I ordered a Trailer Park (Trashy, of course) and a ½ order of chips & guacamole. But, who am I kidding. I could eat the full order all by myself, it’s that good.
The dining room itself was clean and everyone was friendly. My chips & guac arrived almost before I could fill my drink and have a seat. The taco took a little longer, but it was piping hot, so I assume they had to fry fresh chicken (which is fine by me). It’s not too far off of 75, so I’ll definitely visit this one again.

I really liked this place. The concept and execution are pretty on point. I had their Mr. Pink taco, and I really enjoyed the marriage of flavors. The tuna was a tiny bit overcooked.
I liked this place because everything in the taco made sense. From the sauces to the veggies. If you’re up for trying something different then this is the place.

Came in here with a big group of 15 people at 830 on a Sunday night and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The food was delicious as usual. We ordered a variety of tacos, a bunch of queso and street corn. Everything came out correctly and our out of state guests first time torchys experience was awesome!

Eh… I’m on the fence… The food was good (as always) but the service was not (unlike other locations).
The girl who took our order was nice but the kitchen staff acted like they were irritated by us. We ordered queso with ground beef (just like its served in MANY restaurants) but what we got was queso with a couple of very large (about 1 inch sized) chunks of beef. There’s no way we could eat that with chips. So I asked them if they could make it with ground beef instead. The girl in the kitchen said they don’t have ground beef but they do have brisket. She made a new bowl of queso and put about ½ an ounce (from a small plastic cup about half the size of a shot glass) of raw brisket in it. Luckily there was a guy standing next to me when it happened. I’m not sure if he was a manager or a server. He immediately corrected her and let me know he would take care of it. He did.
So overall, everything tasted great but the service definitely needed work!

This location stays crowded! I usually order online and pick up.
The fried chicken taco is great, fajita chicken taco is legit and don’t forget the «secret» menu options! I also love the kick in the queso!
Make sure to keep an eye out every month for a special taco of the month.

Except for the wait, I am definitely a fan.
Food: Delicious. Period. Not your side-​of-​the-​street Mexican tacos, but a more fancier version of that. But then again, what do I know about side-​of-​the-​street Mexican tacos… Went for early dinner in the fall and was back again for Sunday brunch this time. SO FILLING. Got chips & guac, the Wrangler, and the Monk’s Special. Each taco came with double tortilla (corn, of course), because the toppings were so heavy that one tortilla would have probably struggled to hold the toppings’ weight… Both were on the breakfast menu! Highly recommend the Wrangler (mmm potatoes), and ordering two tacos will leave you very stuffed. Felt like each taco had at least two eggs on it. Total came to be less than $ 12. And guac is a bit on the spicier side, be warned.
Service: Slow. Very slow… Chips & guac came out pretty fast, but the rest of the order… man, were they slow. We came in during a lull, I would say. There were anyone in line in front of us, and the dining room was only maybe ¹⁄₃ full. But it took at least 25 mins for two tacos to get to my table…
Ambiance: Family-​friendly :) A good mixture of couples and families on a Sunday morning. Very relaxing atmosphere. But just overall, I would like to not wait almost 30 mins for a couple of tacos…

My love for Torchy’s is no secret, but somehow their secret menu was just that — a secret — until now. I was actually introduced to the secret menu, which is actually not much of a secret, by a friend who almost never goes out to eat. I looked it up online and there are five or so secret tacos. I’m currently working through the list and let me just say, these delicious flavorful tacos should not be kept in the dark! The Jack of clubs is a delicious melding of flavors and textures. Start with some black beans, add a fried egg, some potatoes, sprinkle on a bunch of crispy tortilla strips and cilantro, drizzle with sour cream and Diablo sauce and wooohooo!!! Damn good!
This morning I kept with the card theme and went with the Ace of Spades. It is a full link of spicy jalapeño sausage, beef brisket, a fried egg, queso, cilantro and sour cream and Diablo sauce. Can I get an amen!!! It is hearty as f**k! You only need one, trust! I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
As always, the folks at Torchy’s are friendly, generally. The service is prompt, in my experience and I’ve never had an order get screwed up. Good eats!
