Went here for lunch on Friday and scored a parking space in the lot behind. Good omen. We were seated promptly and graciously. The four of us had a decent breakfast at the golf course so we weren’t all that hungry. The menu looked more on the dinner side, but we were there and decided to give it a go. Two of us ordered an authentic-tasting Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya as good or better than any I’ve had in NOLA, one ordered the Seared Salmon with Mango Salsa Salad and one ordered the Chicken Farfalle Pasta. We all agreed our selections were delicious and worthy of a take-home box and a return trip, hoping the restaurant is here when we return as we are infrequent visitors to Alhambra. The portions are generous and reasonably priced in addition to being deliciously seasoned. There is a wine bar, and also a VERY reasonable $ 10 corkage fee if you want to BYO. Our wait staff was very professional and did not pester but seemed to sense when we needed refills on our beverages. Although I’m sure there must be those ubiquitous packages of sweetener and sugar hidden in the back, when I asked for something to sweeten my iced tea I was presented with a pitcher of Simple Syrup, rather like those you see full of maple syrup in those pancake places, but smaller. What a grand touch! Decorations are minimal but elegant. Great for date night!

Good service, good atmosphere, large portions, and good food. I saw pictures on Unilocal and I decided to go with the beef short rib. It was falling off the bone delicious. Definitely coming here again. I recommend.

A surprisingly delicious option in the city of Alhambra! Located right next to Alondra’s Hot Wings and across from Tea Station, Sage Bistro is a warm welcome of American, Italian and Asian fusion. Restaurants here seem to have a high turnaround rate, but I’m hoping that this one stays! I tried their roasted duck breast. This was very good! The skin of the duck breast took some time to chew, but the breast was roasted perfectly. Juicy, ducky, tender and seasoned just right with their tasty port and truffle balsamic reduction sauce. Even though the skin was a little chewy, there was a perfect amount of fat to balance the meat. The steamed veggies were alright, nothing special, but their mashed potato was definitely one of the best things there! Creamy, fluffy, and buttery… everything I imagined mashed potatoes to be. The Duck Leg Confit with curry was not bad either. Their sweet and spicy curry sauce had a good strong flavor, but it wasn’t over whelming. I definitely had curry that was just as good, or even better elsewhere though, so I’d skip this dish next time… of course unless you really like curry. Comes with a bed of rice. Finally, the Stuffed Chicken Breast. Honey orange glazed chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, garlic and herb feta cheese. This was absolutely delicious. The chicken was super crunchy and not dry one bit! The stuffing in there was proportioned perfectly. The cheese was present, but not overbearing so that you couldn’t taste anything else. This dish actually tasted healthy! Also comes with the amazing mashed potatoes and the so-so veggies. I’m happy this place is right around the corner from my home. It’s got a lot of competition with all the booming restaurants in Alhambra, especially when it’s off toward the west of Alhambra… but I sure hope they are here to stay!

Don’t judge the restaurant from your first step in. The restaurant looks small at the front, but actually stretches all the way to the back so it’s a good place to accommodate large groups. They don’t play loud obnoxious music to add more ambience so it’s a new spot for small intimate meetings or catching up with some old friends. Parking is located at the back or across the side street. Another option is a further walk but it’s on the corner of 1st and main. I was very amazed with the food. It’s a nice blend of American, Italian, and Asian food. All the dishes had the perfect blend of spices and it was also not too rich. You have to order the Pan Seared Salmon. The salmon was extremely fresh and I really enjoy how they seasoned the salmon. They avoided added too much salt so you can taste the freshness. The fish was served over sautéed red onions, mushrooms, and potato. Aside from the fish, the 2nd best part is the way the rice was prepared. I normally don’t eat too much rice. But I was amazed on how it was cooked so perfectly. I can’t recall the last time I had such a perfectly prepared dish. I normally don’t eat Salmon but the server highly recommended this dish. The salmon mango salsa salad was also very tasteful but the fish serving size was not as big as the salmon and rice entrée. The house dressing had a light sweet and tangy taste which went well with the minced mango. At the same priced of $ 14, I would recommend the salmon rice over the salad because of the taste and also portions. Everyone at Sage was super friendly and professional. They always came back to check in on us and always came back to refill our water! I was able to meet the owner, Rhonda since I was there for over 4 hours. She was very down to earth and shared with us for her aspiration on opening her own restaurant! Come check this place out!!!

Only been open for less than 4 months and already hitting the off the chart grade point average stars, I just had to give this a place a look-see! Parking may be difficult as it is a very popular restaurant central spot, but be patient you won’t regret your decision. The restaurant use to be an old coffee shop, so you’ll notice a bit of a narrow layout with a bit of coffee shop vibe. Don’t take that as small, because it can fit big parties easily. My feeling immediately was how home-y i felt, comfortable and ready to eat! I came with my parents and they are strict vegetarian with not even garlic and onions in their diet. Usually this can be such a headache explaining the stress of how allergic they can be when touched. With such ease and comfort our servers knew immediately and even custom made some off the menu vegetarian dishes just for us. Not only were the presentation amazing, but on first bite into our veggie steak(made from scratch– panko, mushroom and potato) with mash potato on the side clearly gave you the feeling of eating a real steak, but with a plus no poor cows were harmed ! Right off the bat you can tell the freshness of each bite, the consistency was perfect and it almost really gave you a slight feeling of… ummm are you sure this aint meat dude? I love how they knew we probably don’t go to much steak houses, so they brought it to us! Side mushroom dishes and fresh asparagus really set the mood! I also got a generous portion of Pasta with sun dried tomato and seriously, the portion is so big I just had to pack it to go. Plus i still had to make space for some of their infamous Tiramisu!!! Tiramisu were yum. nough said’ ! Over all 5 stars and above for amazing service, great service and did I mention delicious food!!!

I alway pass by this place and checked the reviews on Unilocal so I decided to try it for dinner on Sunday evening. The menu is easy to read and offer wide selection of items. Service is very good too. I ordered a delicious duck breast with mash potatoes and it was very delicious and moist. The deviled eggs are delicious with crispy seaweed as toppings. The mango ice tea is tasty except no-refills. My husband ordered braised beef ribs w/rice and extra side of Mac and cheese. Both items were delicious, especially beef ribs was tender and flavorful. Parking was easy to find on street or behind the restaurant. I will definitely go back and try other items.

I liked it. We came here on a Saturday night and it was’t busy at all. The servers are all really friendly which is the primary reason I’m giving this place so many stars. I ordered the Chicken Jambalaya and I thought it was very flavorful and well-sized. I could see parking being a challenge at times. You have your choice of street parking(2 hr limit) or the limited parking on 5th and Main. I’d come back to try their other dishes. Cake cutting service is provided.

Restaurant isn’t too spacious(the layout of the place is just long /narrow), however it can accommodate big parties — just be sure to make reservation. The place is clean and the service is great! Friendly and patient staffs. I ordered a Guava Iced Tea and the Cajun Seafood Pasta. The guava iced tea was okay(i don’t need to order it again for next time). The Cajun Seafood Pasta was really delicious. The portion is perfect for one person(although i wouldnt mind if they were to just add another handful of pasta). it had a nice mixture of seafood: three green mussels, a few baby clams, one chunk of salmon, 5 shrimps and a small handful of real crab meat all mixed into their sauce. The sauce was very flavorful, it wasn’t spicy at all but the aroma of seafood combined with bell peppers, onions in this creamy pinkish sauce was so good. I had a sample taste of the jambalaya and i thought it was pretty good, but i had better. there wasn’t a strong cajun taste to it. i also i had a taste of the duck breast and that was really good and tender. Portion is a bit small for these two dishes(jamabalaya and duck breast) but maybe order a dessert or appetizer to go with it for those who have a bigger appetite. i wouldnt mind visiting this restaurant again. as for parking, you can find parking on the street(if you’re lucky), there’s a public parking lot on 5th, they do have a few spots in rear, but the spots were all taken up and the spaces were really small.

Very good service. I like that the waitress knew the dishes and ingredients. Not that many smaller restaurants can offer this. I ordered the Jambalaya and while it was flavorful it was a bit on the dry side. I added a bit of tabasco and voila it instantly became good. Portion was a bit small though as I was till hungry after eating the food. They take reservations which was nice if you have a big group. There were plenty of parking spots on the street or in the small lot across the street. Just be mindful and not park at Cakelly plaza because there are signs that they will tow.

Excellent service! Friendly staff! We had a party of 16 and they were able to accept our reservation. The table was set and ready to go even before we got there. Our drinks were constantly refilled. Unlike other restaurants, we didn’t feel rushed to get the check. We brought a cake which they gladly stored for us. When it was time to eat it, they even brought it out with a lit candle and stuck around to sing«Happy Birthday» with us. Moving on to the food. I decided to try the Pork Chop Casserole. The portion size was satisfying. I got the mashed potato(instead of rice) and it also came with a side of vegetables. The meat literally fell off the bones. The gravy/sauce that covered the pork chops was just ok. I wanted to like the pork chops however it tasted like something I’ve gotten from Tasty Garden or one of those cafes. It was rather underwhelming. The mashed potato was smooth and flavorful. The side of vegetables, which was just bell peppers with mushroom, I could do without. Definitely will not be getting this again. I wouldn’t mind giving this place another go. But next time I will be trying one of their more popular dishes. Note: — Two credit card max per check — 15% service charge apply for party 8+ — No more Check-in offer

Delicious food! Think of Baccali but upscale and with that upgrade there’s an increase in price too. Once in a while for a date night would be good. Would return, service us friendly and dishes are scrumptious! Portions are ok, price is high, but I think the flavours make up for it!

Cute new fusion restaurant on Main Street, right by Alondra’s. I’ve had Sage Bistro bookmarked since it opened and finally had the opportunity to try it for our Christmas gift exchange with the girls. We were seated right away by a nice, funny, energetic lady. I would assume she is the owner? Love when a menu selection isn’t 10 pages long. It makes ordering a lot easier =) Between 4 girls, we shared the smoked salmon bruschetta($ 8), chicken farfalle pasta($ 11), roasted duck breast($ 13), and shrimp & chicken jambalaya($ 12). MUST try the roasted duck breast. The balsamic reduction with the crispy duck breast and mashed potatoes is YUM x3! We only ate about half the jambalaya. not our favorite. Parking located on 5th& Main Street. There is a parking lot directly behind Alondra’s with limited space, and one across the street for 2 hour parking.

This place is amazing! I’m glad we have good quality, non-Asian food in the 626 that doesn’t break the bank(I’m looking at you, Pasadena!) This place is so cute and modern, it really captures the fusion vibe that I really enjoy. The roasted duck breast and beef short ribs were SO good! I highly recommend you try these dishes and everything else on the menu. You can’t beat the quality and the price combo here. Great date place! Plenty of street parking and free public lots!

Small restaurant, small menu, good presentation, water has the weird tap water taste. We ordered roasted duck breast and stuffed chicken breast, who doesn’t like breasts? Roasted duck breast — 2⁄5 Overcooked, way to salty up the the point that I could feel my blood pressure was rising. The duck skin was all burnt. If I was still with my ex, she would complain and make them redo it; but we’re not together anymore so I decided to man the fuck up and finished the whole dish. Stuffed chicken breast — 4⁄5 Sweet dish, everything was good except that most of the veggie was burnt. I liked this dish. Quick service since it’s a small restaurant. I would give this place 2.5 stars but the waitress was really cute and I thought she looked like Yuri from Kaba Modern so they get 4⁄5.

Rating: 3.5, but will rounded up to a 4. Check-in deal: One free scoop of ice cream for everyone at your table. Wonderful! Food genre: American, Italian, and asian fusion Location/Parking: Located next to Alondra’s hot wings with decent amount of parking in the back, front, residential(5th st), and parking structure across the street. Ambiance: Gave off a calm and relaxing ambiance. Perfect for catchin up, dates, and family dinner outings. Service: Loved the service, but felt the asian staffer lady was being a bit excessive on checking on us. At times, she would pat me on the shoulder and ask us how everything was. Personal space VIOLATED! Just keep at a distance and stay professional please. Any who, I’m over it. Price Point: Main entrees start at $ 9(chicken pasta soup) to $ 28(Angus beef if you want to be fancy) Menu: Fairly simple menu with 2 starter, 2 salad, 10 entrees, and 4 different sides to order from. Food: We ordered 3 things: a starter(deviled egg) and 2 entrees(Duck leg confit and braised beef ribs) to share. I absolutely loved them. Maybe I’m bias because I love love devil eggs! Best way to eat them is by eating them whole! :) The duck leg confit and braised beef ribs were lovely to eat also. They were both tender(literally fell off the bone) and the sauces was phenominal, but loved the braised beef ribs more. One time visit is good for me. Continue to do great things Sage Bistro! :)

Sage is a fairly new Asian-run Italian restaurant, with a small interior and a short and straight-to-the-point menu. The staff was friendly and got our orders out in decent timing. We asked for the seared salmon salad with mango salsa, and cajun seafood pasta. The salad was sweet and sour — salmon was seared nicely and the mango tied the salad together with a fruity and refreshing kick. The cajun seafood pasta included a medley of shrimp, clams, mussels, salmon filet, and crab meat in cajun sauce and linguini. The soup base was lightly creamy and spicy and the seafood was delicious. The portions were just enough to fill two people. We also got a free scoop of strawberry ice cream for checking in on Unilocal!I thought the price was a little steep for what it is, but I would definitely like to come back to try their braised beef short ribs. There is parking in the rear alley or on the street for free.

This place serves American and Italian style dishes with a little bit of Asian flair. The menu is quite simple with about 10 entrees ranging from dishes like Braised Beef Ribs, Pork Chop Casserole, Dug Leg Confit, Cajun Seafood Pasta, and few others. It’s one of the fancier restaurants in this area and price is a bit on the high side as well. Most of the dishes range somewhere around $ 11-$ 18 with the exception of Angus Beef Rib Eye Steak which is $ 28. On my first visit I got the Shrimp & Chicken Jambalaya. I had a hard time deciding whether I liked this dish or not. I was expecting it to taste like Cajun style jambalaya but it didn’t. It had the right spiciness but lacked flavor. The shrimps were pretty small, and slightly raw carrots just didn’t work for me. It tasted more like spicy fried rice than a jambalaya. I decided to give this place another try so I came back and tried the Stuffed Chicken Breast. This was a better dish and also slightly less expensive. I feel like calling this the Italian orange chicken roll because they’re cut into round pieces like sushi roll but has chicken stuffed with garlic, spinach, and herb feta cheese. Outside is crunchy like orange chicken and it’s drizzled with some orange honey glaze. The orange glaze was a bit overpowering but other ingredients worked well together. Just a dab of the glaze would’ve done a better job. The dish also came with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables which were pretty good. I think this place has potential but I’m not quite ready to give anything higher than a 3 at this time. I may come back and try the Braised Beef Ribs because it’s suppose to be the signature dish.

Stopped in last Friday evening and the service was prompt and attentive. The food is reasonably priced for what it is — $ 12 for duck breast, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. The duck is well cooked with an asian/american flare and has an excellent tangy/sweet but not sticky sauce. The braised short rib was delicious as well. Salty, sweet, savory, and made from a tomato base, it really brought a lot of flavor and worked well with the rice.

* Opened September 2015 * OVERALLCOMMENTS: — Great Food — Small Menu — Great Friendly Servers — Prices(Slightly Higher) — Free Ice Cream for Unilocal Check-In(as of September 2015) SAGEBISTRO is located directly next to Alondra’s Hot Wings on Main Street. They have a relatively small menu and most entrée runs from $ 10-$ 18 range. The most expensive dish on their menu is Angus Beef Rib Eye Steak for $ 28. There were so many dishes that I wanted to try, but my mind was set on their SHRIMP&CHICKENJAMBALAYA($ 12) when I walked inside their restaurant. FOOD: SHRIMP&CHICKENJAMBALAYA($ 12): Like many have noted, the Jambalaya was moist and deliciously cajun seasoned. While this dish did not«wow» me, it was very enjoyable. I have noted that some people did not like this dish, but please note… Jambalaya is suppose to spicy. Don’t be ordering this dish if you are not a fan of spiciness. SERVICE: The service was great. Servers and the owner took turn to come by and check on how I am doing. Waiter was courteous was attentive. I noticed that most of the patrons are Chinese, and they have a habit of eating family-style. This can be chaotic because there will be dishes everywhere. A small suggestion for the servers & kitchen is to have better timing and give the patrons enough time to finish their salads and appetizer before loading the table with more entrée dishes. Sincerely hope that SAGEBISTRO and its staff will keep up the good work. I will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes on the menu.
