Two start for different price with menu. I went there today to have some macaroons, while place looks nice and macaroons were delicious, the reason why I won’t come back here is because while the price on their website for 4 macaroons is $ 6, they charged me $ 10. I asked the staff, she confirmed that it was $ 10 for 4 instead of $ 6, which is kind of pricey. It’s not a big deal, but I just don’t like wrong advertising.

Finally had the chance to sit down and try the place, for all the other times. it was always packed. I really wanted to try their waffles, but I was hungry, so that won’t cut it. After picking a seat and finally deciding what to order, I went up to the counter and ordered Teriyaki Chicken Plate, Spicy Wontons and Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly. The staff was very friendly and the food came out fairly quick. After trying the food, the wontons were a bit hard, chicken was good and the milk tea tasted great, unlike other places where the milk tea tastes really ‘chocolately’. Overall, my experience with this place was a good first impression, but the spicy wontons really did disappoint me. I feel like this place is more of a study place, where nobody really orders food and mainly orders drinks. Will I return? Most likely, to try their waffles.

Nice cute spot in Alhambra that has really good drinks! They have a ton of options to choose from, and everything I’ve tried so far has been very good quality and tasty. My one minor gripe and the reason I can’t give Bön Appetea 5 stars is because the popcorn chicken I ordered was pretty average. It wasn’t crispy at all, even though it was piping hot. The taste was very average, and I’ve definitely had better at many other tea houses around the area. Maybe the cook was just having an off day, but I was severely disappointed by the taste. Still will come back quite often to get drinks here though! Keep up the good work and Bön Appetea

Atmosphere: Came here for the first time to have dinner with a friend on a Friday evening. Being a Friday of course it was pretty full but we managed to find seats. It was mostly full with students studying since they have free wifi. The place itself is pretty small so it gets full quick. Nice décor and set up inside. My friend brought her baby along and so we appreciated that they had a high chair available. Food: everything must be ordered at the cashier and they take your food to your table. Let me say the food was really good and for that reason I would come again. We ordered two sandwiches the tuna melt and the sun dried tomato and chicken. They were both really tasty but our favorite was the chicken Sammy. We also ordered some sweet potato fries and those were good but we had to return our first order because for some reason their salt and pepper has some other seasoning that was a bit spicy for our taste. We also tries two of their chocolate macaroons and they were so soft and delicious. They of course sell teas, bobas, and coffees but we did not try any of these this time. Conclusion: will return for more!

Came here with a friend because I was craving Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice and saw pictures on Unilocal. After we got there and looked at the menu, the cashier told us it was no longer on the menu. As an alternative, we ordered the Popcorn Chicken with rice instead and it was so delicious! The chicken was crispy but not overly battered or fried. I wish I ordered medium spicy but mild was just fine. For drinks, we ordered Rose Green Tea and Honey Green Tea with boba and they were both very refreshing. Later on the week, I brought my bf over for drinks and our milk tea selections were equally tasty. I liked the stronger tea flavor(vs. Tapioca Express, etc) and this place does a great job without overly sweeten the drinks. I enjoyed my Green Milk Tea and my bf loved is Strawberry Milk Tea. We both agreed this place is better than others in surrounding area(like Tea barrel, Half and Half). I believe you can pay credit card with a $ 10 minimum. Street parking available and there’s a parking lot directly across.

I know you 626ers are all about Half and Half. I’m surprised this wasn’t even in the running when my friend suggested boba places. I’m so glad I ignored them all and ventured here. Hokkaido milk tea, with boba and custard. WooooooooooooooooooooOOOoOoOooOOW. Smooth milk tea like I’m drinking silk dipped in astroglide. Custard that retained all the caramel to make it fun to drink as I squeezed it between my teeth to break it apart. Boba was warm, sweet and had a good texture. One of the best bobas I’ve had in the area.

ALMONDMILKTEAWITHBOBA. I rarely order milk tea because my stomach is quasi-lactose intolerant but I was willing to risk it this time around in order to try the almond milk tea. SOWORTHIT. The flavor was spot on and didn’t taste fake-syrupy at all. The boba was also super warm on the bottom of my cup and was deliciously chewy. Definitely recommend ordering the boba with your drink. They only have one size drink here which makes ordering easy peasy. There’s a decent amount of seating inside and a few tables outside but we took our drinks to go. They also had watermelon juice for my mom which she enjoyed. Dad got a Thai tea full sugar which he said was tasty too. Overall everything was delicious and I would return as soon as possible to try some of their other drinks(if only I lived closer to CA) :D

Hello my Unilocalies, First I have to say how adorable is their name? haha! came here for the first time with some of my co-workers. We were just around the area and decided to grab something quick before going back to work. Parking here is a little complicated because there’s no parking lot(or maybe I just don’t know where it is lol) but we were lucky enough to find street parking. The place was very adorable, it is small but definitely very homey feeling. I decided to order an entrée because I was starving, so I order the Popcorn chicken with rice(medium spicy) with a side of milk green tea with boba. The greatest part with this order is that if you order a drink that’s in the category you can get it for only $ 1 extra. The popcorn chicken was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken wasn’t overcooked or has a lot of fat, you can actually taste the chicken, it was also well seasoned and well fried. It would definitely have been better if they have a side of fried egg to add a pop into the dish haha. As for the milk green tea, it was decent, not the best I’ve had but good enough for a place like this. The service was great, all of the workers are very friendly and well organized. They were kind enough to help me throughout my whole order with a smile. I will definitely come back in the near future to try their other drinks and food. Overall, 5 stars for service, 4 stars for food, 5 stars for environment and decorations and 5 stars for cleanliness. Without a doubt you will see me again very soon.

Seeing as my graduate program is online, I got done with finals a few weeks before the ground students. Being the good classmate that I am, I offered tutoring in biostats. And here I came with two classmates, helping them prep for their final on Monday. After having a quick lunch nearby, we migrated over here. We were delighted by their many choices, of which I got the iced latte. This latte was huge, it came in a large glass jug and packed a big caffeine punch. My classmates ordered a desert place, a macaroon, and some dumplings(check out the photos). I don’t do sweets nor pork, but they told me that they tasted well. The environment is comfortable. We were able to sit on plush couches, and setting up our laptops was no problem. The other patrons were also students, so getting studying done without distractions was possible. The only issue I have with this place is lack of wifi. Fortunately, I did not need access to the internet as I had all my notes and biostats programs installed on my laptop already. I would come here again to get work done, so long as I do not need internet to do so.

April 13, 2016 Came here after our PD Training in Alhambra, after my friend and I had our lunch nearby at a Hawaiian place, we decided to grab boba(we are both boba addicts and we’ve been talking and planning all day for this). Both of us ordered the Milky Ice with boba and pudding. She ordered one and I ordered two(one for another friend that we will see at my other training). OMG… the drinks were delicious! Large portion, but for a large lump sum of money. Nevertheless, it was totally worth it. You can smell the freshly made boba(still hot) in the cup. You can smell the sweetness of the boba and the flavorful milk. Will definitely come back for my next training nearby, or just when I am, once again, in the vicinity.

This is a nice little tea lounge located in Alhambra. They have an extensive menu featuring some pretty delicious drinks and food entrees. I’ve been to this location a couple times, and while the drinks are decent; I have always found them to be way too sweet even when I ask for less sugar. Maybe, I should ask for no sugar, or just a hint of sugar; but from the oolong and mango tea to the brown sugar latte(although the brown sugar latte did have a good amount of strong coffee taste), all these drinks were just too sweet for my taste buds. Drinks are on the pricey side, about $ 4 – 5 a cup and they give way too much ice, even when asked for light ice. I guess all the ice does help in the end when it comes to diluting the drink so it’s not as sweet. But when you pay that much for a drink and about ¼ of it is filled with ice, it’s questionable. I’ve never tried their food here but I did try their brick toast before, and it was really good. There was 3 pieces of thin bread layered together with mochi and a small scoop of ice cream on top. It wasn’t too heavy and stacked with ice cream like other places I’ve had. The place is pretty small and it’s usually pretty crowded, so it might be difficult to find seats. They do take card but its a 10 dollar minimum, so bring cash! Overall, I would recommend this place, drinks are decent but just remember to ask for less sugar and ice!

If you want to come to a hipster boba joint, you should come here. This is my first time to this place, and I do like it a lot because the look of it is different. It has hipster-like decorations, where there’s a room for tables to socialize or do work and another room to order food and drinks. It can be noisy due to people just hanging out, but if you do have work, you can come here because it has free Wi-Fi! My boyfriend got me the Potted Milk Tea(~$ 5) with Grass Jelly(additional $ 0.50). He ordered the Hokkaido Milk Tea(~$ 4). I love my Potted Milk Tea because it’s presentation is really cute with the crushed Oreo bits with mint on top. Although it is good, the milk tea of my drink taste like any other milk tea, so nothing too amazing about the milk tea. The Hokkaido Milk Tea is delicious, and I do see why people order it. It tastes like brick toast! It’s creamy, and it’s pretty sweet with a hint of tea flavoring. I have never tasted this tea anywhere else, so if I do come back here, I would probably order the Hokkaido Milk Tea because it’s different.

Such a cute café, with a great ambiance for both socializing and working! There’s plenty of tables and outlets for you to come and get things done — it’s not too loud either, which makes it a perfect work area if you don’t mind some background noise. It’s also definitely a great place to come relax with your friends after a long day. The drinks and food are both great, and I love that they have a self-serve water area as well. Tips: Get the Egg Pudding. It’s magical. If you’re not a fan of drinks that are too sweet, get half-sweet; the drinks here can be a little too sweet for my taste. Cons: There’s a 50 cent card charge if you don’t spend more than $ 10.

I heard about this place from watching Wong Fu Productions on YouTube and wanted to give it a try. I ordered on the phone beforehand so that there wouldn’t be any wait. I really appreciate the easy parking situation in the back. And wow! The interior of Bön Appetea is so cute, not to mention the fact that I love the name of the place. Very solid on the drinks. I love places that have only one size for drinks. Saves me the guilt when I really want a large! I had the earl grey milk tea with boba, 50% sugar. It was definitely sweet enough and the boba was very tasty. My mom and her secretary had the hot osmanthus tea and milk tea with boba. Both were happy. Also got the popcorn chicken and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very flavorful and best of all not greasy like other places I’ve been to. Definitely made me feel better when I looked down and realized I had eaten most of it by myself(portion is big enough so you could definitely share with up to three people). Person at the counter offered us a stamp card without us even asking so thanks! Sign of good customer service. Hope to be back in the future to try out more things!

This place is a pretty good study spot. The café itself is small but they have tables big enough to accommodate for your textbooks and laptops and food/drinks. Free wifi is available. Bön Appetea Café is a Taiwanese café that serves Taiwanese food and drinks(eg. Boba and popcorn chicken). I personally did not get any food but I looked around and the popcorn chicken and Taiwanese sausage looked pretty good. I got the Hokkaido milk tea with boba and it was alright… too sweet for my liking, so I suggest asking for half sweet. Parking is street parking. Overall I liked this café and would come back again to get some studying done.

I visited Bön Appetea on a Sunday evening and found that most of the indoor seating was already taken but we managed to find a table and took turns ordering. The interior is pretty cozy. The ordering side is separated in a different room from the seating area which makes it easier to concentrate if you’re getting work done. They offer free wi-fi and many people were reading or working on their computers while enjoying warm beverages or food. Their menu includes an array of food items and plenty of slushies, milk teas, lattes and coffee to choose from. I decided on a hot soy matcha green tea latte and my friend had a hot soy taro milk tea. Our drinks totaled to around $ 9.75 and if you’re under the $ 10 mark and are paying with a card you’ll be charged a credit card fee. Our drinks were brought over shortly after ordering. I liked that the matcha latte wasn’t at all overly sweet. As matcha powder is naturally sweet I tend to not like any added sugar and I don’t believe there was any in my drink. I really enjoyed the taste of the taro in my friend’s drink but found that it was much too sweet for my liking. If extra sweetener was added, I would ask for about half or less of the amount that they typically add in. They were generous with the amount of taro and matcha they added to our drinks and I liked that both drinks held a strong flavor. We didn’t have anything to eat but I enjoyed my tea and found it extremely filling. If there’s one thing I wasn’t particularly fond of was how close the tables were to each other. I likely wouldn’t set up fort here all day to get work done but it does the job for an hour or so. The space isn’t the biggest and I understand that they made do with the amount of space they have and made an effort to keep it tidy but I found it just a little too cramped for my liking. Again, I still would return for the tea and wouldn’t mind hanging out for a bit to enjoy some hot tea and free wi-fi.

I only like one item here but it’s good enough to make me give this place 4 stars. The Hokkaido Milk Tea is one my new obsessions and is what keeps me coming back here. It’s such a unique flavor I can’t quite describe it. It tastes like it has brown sugar and maple syrup with several other herbal flavors. It’s rich, robust, and a little bit bitter. I always get this with half sugar and boba. The honey boba here is also very tasty so I always add it as an option. Matcha Milk Tea is also good but I thought it was little too milky and not enough green tea flavor. I also tried some food items like Curry Chicken Sandwich and Thai Green Curry Rice. They were fine for a tea/drink place but I would still prefer to get food at regular restaurants. Still, it offers good options if you don’t want to go to two different places to get food and drink. Place is usually packed because lot of students come here to study and do homework. Not surprising given it’s pretty close to Alhambra High School. It has the usual stamp card where you get a free drink after 10 stamps.
