Good selection of candels and sented items. The staf is average but helpful.

I’ve been a YK fan for a very long time…:) And this location gets most of my business for anything candle related. That being said, they DO have an assertive staff, it’s part of the YK culture to encourage the upsell. I’ve never had someone be in my face like the other poster mentioned(eeep!), but I have seen that behavior in other stores. Sorta«car-salesman-like». This particular store has an associate named«Nikki» that put me off at first, surely no one could be that talkative, perky and happy. But every time I go in, she remembers my name, my preferences and asks about my daughter. I look forward to seeing her when I come in now; she lets me know what’s coming up on sale and what I might like for the upcoming season. She makes every customer feel appreciated and wanted, she’s definitely an asset to the Yankee Candle Company…:) I gave this store a 4, instead of the 5, because unless you have a coupon, it’s hard on a persons’ budget. Other than that, I’d recommend for sure!

This store has a great mix of items for any occasion, including fit giving. I love shopping during their semi annual sale, and it is so great that they have coupons all the time. I love the manager — Rhiannon. I asked where she has been, because I havent seen her in a while, and was told she is out for a few more months! Bring her back please! She is amazing and I can definitely tell the staff misses her too! Overall, this store is a great location.

Fair warning for anyone who hasn’t been into a Yankee Candle store: it’s sensory overload of all sorts. First of all, if you’re not used to having your nostrils bombarded with a mix of scents that can only be described as a punch in the face, you’re in luck(sarcasm). Any time I’ve been in this store(not just this location), I peruse the candles until I get a headache & take that as my cue to wrap it up, pay for my purchases and leave. If you’re into scents and making your house, car, etc smell nice, then you’ll find a wide selection of types of scents from fruity to floral to masculine & pretty much everything in between. Also noteworthy, be prepared for an aggressive sales pitch, which I’m pretty sure is company protocol, because the Algonquin location is definitely NOT the first Yankee Candle I’ve walked into where I’m immediately greeted and pushed towards buying items that are on sale, even before anyone knows what I am and am not looking for. I’d say that it’s a fair statement that you need to be mentally prepared for this, and there have been a few times that I wasn’t, got irritated & left without buying anything. Also, if you’re easily persuaded, I suggest attacking this store with some sort of buddy system so that you don’t end up with $ 500+ in candles and fragrance accessories. I once walked into this store with my friends & family coupon in hand and a specific few items to purchase, and I felt like I partly offended the cashier by spending less than $ 4 in candles. More than once, she asked me if I was sure that that’s all I wanted to buy. Don’t be afraid to say no or «thanks, just looking.» Yankee Candles is a scent-a-holic’s dream, no doubt. The staff is most definitely helpful(and talkative), so if you’re not ready for it, I’d suggest coming back when you’re mentally prepared.

I can’t really comment on the product here. Sure, their candles are overpriced, but they last a long time and have some great scents. The customer service, if you want to call it that, here is beyond obnoxious. I have been in this location many times and have usually been annoyed, but last night was the last straw. I came in, stated exactly what I was looking for and that I would get it myself, and one of their employees, Katie, proceeded to hover over me and try to suggest other products for me to buy in addition to the gift I was buying. I don’t understand why I should have to say«no thanks» more than once. Has the company pushed some sort of aggressive suggestive sale program for their company to utilize? At the register, I specifically requested a gift receipt, and although Katie acknowledged my request, she was too busy trying to sell me other items to actually follow through with my request. When I was finished settling up, I inquired about the gift receipt and was told that she forgot about it. Annoying sure, but infuriating when she refused to re-ring the purchase because«it takes a long time.» I will no longer be patronizing this establishment. Good job, Katie.
