I give 1 star for a good deal and 1 star for a good pizza. Now let’s talk about the bad: the app wouldn’t work so I had to call the store(minus 1 star), then it took 5 minutes to place an order(minus 1 star), now for the kicker. I ordered and chose to pick it up because I am budget conscious(hence ordering from Papa John’s). I drove to the store and no pizza was there; I was told that the order wasn’t done and it would be 20 minutes(no concession offered for such an error). I called my wife to tell her I would be late and she informs me the pizza delivery person is at our house!(minus 1 star, and I am being gracious) Meanwhile the guy at the store asks me if I want to wait for the pizzas they just started: I said No! I had already paid at the store so the person gave me my money back. My wife didn’t have any cash so I asked if I could just have them call the driver and we would be done. They agreed, I returned the money, and I left to drive home for the pizzas that were waiting with my family. I couldn’t orchestrate something like this!

I always thought Papa Johns was ok in a pinch. Not bad, not great, but worked well enough when I wanted something quick, cheap and edible. I do love their cheese sauce, while my wife enjoys the garlic. I generally do not care for any of the big chains(Little C/Pizza H/Dom), but PJ is usually a little better. Sometime a few years ago, the Crystal Lake PJ closed down. The first few times I ordered from the Algonquin store, I noticed it was not quite as good as the CL store. They seemed to skimp here and there, but was still within the general quality of your typical Papa Johns, if on the lower end. They would only give one hot pepper, and usually had a bit less cheese than usual. It was no deal breaker, but I noticed they were cutting corners. The more I ordered there the more I noticed this issue. A year ago we got a pizza from here and due to quality problems, my wife and I decided to take our business elsewhere from then on. Fast forward to tonight, dinner options were limited so my wife got a pizza here due to the convenience. Huge mistake. The crust was dried out, even beyond the outer ring, normal pan pizza was super flat, little sauce, and the cheese did not go all the way to the crust. The amount of toppings was low but tolerable as I had low expectations to begin with. Honestly, the lower amount of toppings did not seem like much of a problem compared to everything else. Everything about this pizza was complete garbage. I was a bit surprised they actually included 2 peppers this time. However, they were the size of a quarter and completely dried out; no liquid came out when I bit into them. The good: I have yet to see them screw up an order. The bad: They cut corners and have very low quality The order from tonight further convinces me to never go to this particular store again. It also makes me hesitant to go to any others in the chain. The soft cheese is tasty, as is the sauces, but that is not enough to make me want to go back.

I haven’t ordered from this franchise since I was in college and convinced my friend tonight to get this instead of Papa Savarios because I liked the dipping sauce. Well… The dipping sauce is the only thing that was good about this whole expiierence, and I(and my stomach) wish I were kidding. We ordered on a normal(read: no sports games) night. We were told our one large pizza would be here in 30 minutes… Great. Except an hour later were still sitting on the couch waiting for the delivery driver. We call the store and they just exclaim that the driver should be there and to call back in 15 mins if he’s not(I didn’t know I was hired as a babysitter??) Our pizza arrives a few minutes later, Lukewarm at best, and missing the two extra sauces we ordered. The driver just says«call the store and get a refund» and turns around and walks away. We call the store, get told that the driver is in training and that is why he’s late(is that why he was rude too? How about give him less houses, or tell him to call if he gets lost… This can’t be a first) We were told we would get 50% off our next order. Next order!?! Fat chance.

pizza tasted like pizza, it was still hot when i got it. surprisingly. since i ordered it an hour and 15 minutes before i actually received it. and they made me tip BEFORE i even received my pizza. so i tipped well expecting good service. however i should have been smarter since the guy who answered the phone was rude. waited over an hour, and got no phone call, so we went outside and looked to see if there was a delivery guy wandering the parking lot(since we live in apartments) and of course, there he was sitting there in the parking lot. we asked him how long he was sitting there and he said 25 minutes. then after asking why he never called and asked for directions, he forgets to bring the receipt for me to sign, and walks away after we ask his managers name. the only reason i gave them 2 stars is because who ever made the pizza did not forget that i wanted green olives instead of black. also they closed a half hour early and did not pick up the phone when we were trying to call and ask where our pizza was. never ordering here again

Horrible Customer Service. Team mom ordered pizza for youth football team at 2:00pm and payed for it; to be delivered at 7:00pm. Team mom followed up at 4:30pm and 6:30pm. Total kids 21, total parents 30 to 40. At 7:20pm no pizza, we call and guy says«We don’t have that order, who did you talk to?» Answer«Randy» guys says«I’m Randy, your pizza’s will be there in 20 minutes». One hour and ten minutes later and five more phone call, pizza arrive in horrible shape with more excuses about why these kids and parents are not important. Never again from this Papa Johns! Shame on them and their owner for extremely poor customer service and product.

OK in a pinch. I like their all meat, thin crust, as long as I have enough of their garlic dipping sauce!

Ordered a plain olé pepperoni pizza for the game tonight. Never again. I know why I always pass this place up, but I figured it’s been about 10 years since I’ve had it, why not… It will be another 10 before I get a pizza from this place again. What all the other options in the area, I truly will never think about it again. I wont bash it too much, you can read the other reviews and trust them, but the garlic sauce for the crust saved it from a 1 star pizza. Hey Papa John’s look in the mirror and re-evaluate your situation over there, do yourself a favor.

It’s your basic carryout /delivery pizza joint, complete with all that Papa John’s has to offer. Takeout service is quick, friendly, and if you’re a regular they know you by name.(My brother is one, as he lives nearby and has two young sons that don’t yet know what really good pizza tastes like.) Bonus: there’s a nice grocery store next door, so you can grab some decent adult food before picking up the kids’ dinner.

I’m sorry, but when did Papa John’s start selling pizza? I thought they sold chewy manhole cover shaped loaves of white bread topped with thin layers of melted light industrial plastic? Seriously I think their cheese is recycled 80s action figures. Anyways, I suppose if a tinkle of MSG into the mix will outweigh the sorrow of your internal organs(as they become cancerous in revolt) and allow you to actually eat this nutrition-LESS food then rock on. LOL!
