Time resided: 1 year and 1 month Reason for residing: Occupational move Reason for leaving: Occupational move Highlight: I stayed home from work one day with a migraine. I stopped in the clubhouse to get a diet coke(complimentary and caffeine helps headaches) and saw the maintenance men Vince and Jason. Vince was quick to mention he had a home remedy. It contained lemon juice and Himalayan salt that I obviously did not have hanging around my house. I returned home only to get a knock on my door 30 minutes later. It was vince! He went to the Trader Joe’s 2 blocks away and picked up the items. It was extremely thoughtful and can say they were the most personal maintenance crew that I experienced. Thanks again Vince! I decided upon Algonquin Square(AS) because they titled them«apartment homes» and I honestly felt like I arrived home upon my first visit. They are newer and high end construction to give you a «custom home» feel. I also really liked the idea of a common clubhouse so that it would be easier to meet others as I was moving into the area without know anyone. Pros — Beautiful landscaping, and easy general parking. I truly loved my place. They put on great Friday(sort of monthly) parties to get the community together. A beautiful pool but it has its limits(see below). A great outdoor grilling area. Cons — I could hear the«elephants» above me for the entire year.(Make sure to visit an apartment during higher traffic times if on a 1st or 2nd floor. They were very PUSHY about rent and payment. I was ALWAYS10 days early and the one time I underpaid by $ 7 the leasing office was calling requesting for me to pay it before the end of the day. The complimentary snacks were amazing when I moved it and they touted them as a HUGE perk and then they reduced it to very basic«cheap» items. They raised my rent by $ 100 after the first year. If you take into account their original concessions and the increase in rent the amount was raised by $ 200. A million kids at the pool ALWAYS. They assessed my pet damage at the end and retained funds that were supposed to be a refund without notifying me by at least telephone. I have dealt with more professional office staff. If you want that price range or a little higher then check out Fountain Square.

RENTERBEWARE. My rent was raised $ 200 a month mid lease. I was paying 1,700 a month, to listen to neighbors talk on the phone, babies crying, watching movies, and take a piss. YEAHTAKE A PISS, that’s DISGUSTING! You’re paying for the location. Parking was terrible. Algonquin square claims they are pet friendly, but charges a pet«privilege» fee and makes you pay for the grass your dog pees on. This association was very pro-landlord and ended up screwing me over even after I moved out! Skyridge is owned by the same company. You will find a better deal elsewhere twice the size and cheaper. Yeah they have maintenance on site, but every landlord has a handyman that’s on call. Garbage is susposed to be picked up by 8:00pm, most of the time it was after 10:00pm.

Algonquin Square Apartments was my boyfriend and I’s first home together. We signed a one-year lease only to find out halfway through our lease, our rent went up $ 200+ a month due to some«concession» being removed without consent/say-so! Needless to say, this left a very bad taste in our mouths with the Management Company. My boyfriend and I were extremely frustrated and knew immediately we would be cancelling our lease as soon we could! This caused an unforeseen financial strain on both of us for the remainder of our lease. The overall living of the complex was average. The units were very nice(brand new when we moved in). Parking is terrible. It is very apparent that there are not enough parking spaces for the amount of residents/units. A lot of our neighbors with private entry’s had to park in a completely different parking lot due to overcrowding of cars. Also, the units are not very soundproof, contrary to what we were told when we moved in. We could hear every step, door slam, dog bark and baby cry our neighbors made. There are some things we really enjoyed about living here such as the(heated) pool, 24⁄7 fitness center and the friendly maintenance crew and staff. They had resident get togethers every few months, which would be a nice way to meet people if you are new to the area. Any time there was an issue in our unit, maintenance would be there the same day. Also, I LOVED the location, so close to the commons/shopping/restaurants! I think my boyfriend and I both learned our lesson with renting from a management company! Overall, the rent is much too high for the space you get.
